Yes....of a foreign entity that's not on good terms with the US. Believe it or not, despite the negative coverage, the NSA and it's employees signed an oath to defend America. Whether you agree with their methodss is irrelevant. If the NSA deem a Chinese product a threat, it's not very hard to trust them on that. The Chinese are notorious at this.

Xiaomi sells their phone as a loss, not a profit. Their main profits come from other revenues. It's their strategy and it's not very sustainable, in my opinion. There's something most people don't know about Huawei. It's #1 product is the modem and related telecommunications equipment - not phones. The modem am using right now is Huawei. All modems I've ever bought all happened to be Huawei. Nearly all telecommunications service providers in Asia, Africa and many in Europe use Huawei OEM products. Any product you get from these service providers (regardless of label) would most likely be Huawei. In terms of market share, it's far larger than Apple and Samsung. I believe they're way ahead!

I am a Chinese, and I can tell you for sure that Chinese goveronment has no connection with HUAWEI. 96.5% of HUAWEI is owned by its employees. And the average pay of HUAWEI is 100K dollers per year (not include the bonus). The reason why the Chinese goveronment supporting HUAWEI is that HUAWEI could be one of the a few companies that could stand the technology of China. That's how we show the world that China has the ability to accomplish something.

The main issue is that China is a country which is, ‘rule by law’ not ‘rule of law’. If the CCP ask any Chinese telecommunications manufacture to help them spy on any company or country. They have to comply. Doesn’t matter if they are a private company, publicly listed company or a state owned enterprise. Business in China if often run by the lead of the government. They drive and support the areas that they wish to grow. Even if a company wanted to do things one way to build more trust in their company and the ccp told them to do something that would hurt that reputation they are powerless. The government is all controlling in China when it wants to be. Look into what happened when they built the African Union building. And which telecommunications companies built most of the infrastructure on that continent?

I won't deny the wrongs of Chinas goverment or system, but it is clearly evident that USA don't want a Chinese company to succeed for their own selfish reasons. Spying narrative is just an excuse. Even if it's true, USA spy agencies alongside government with the idiot at their helm, and together with USA corporations are no better. I'd rather use Huawei phone (which I do) than to pay for an insanely overpriced status symbol that is the iPhone. All these actions against Huawei makes me wanna support them even more. Concerning all the phones I've used, Huawei phone's privacy settings are the most versatile, being able to deny access to specific permissions, something the other manufacturers can learn from. Dont want that pesky calculator app to access contacts and camera? No problem, just disable those specific settings. On a Samsung? No can do.

But the world is not only about smartphones. Most of their revenue is from carrier stuff like 3G/4G infrastructure. And sure, their prices of such equipment are low comparing to others but also the quality is top-notch. In carrier equipment they are the leaders, beating Ericsson, Nokia and ZTE. Beside consumer products, they also have their Enterprise Department and they make products like enterprise switches, routers, WLAN, servers, disk arrays, UC&C, etc. In most of those products, Huawei is listed in top 3 worldwide. So even if they sell less flagship smartphones than Apple or Samsung, they are almost the best in other markets. In my country all telecommunications companies use Huawei systems and they are so reliable. And i use Huawei phone and it is the best phone I have ever used, great specs, great price, great performance, and great camera. Im ME people started to switch to Huawei phones because of specs and price. Nearly all my friends and family switched especially after P10.
