The thing about the steelers is they never expect a QB to be superman so an aging vet with a chip on his shoulder couldnt ask for a better place to thrive. Steelers is the best fit for Russ.. decent O-Line, decent RunGame, underrated WRs, awesome defense and most of all great culture within the Steelers organization... Im not saying that Steelers will automatically be going to SuperBowls with Russ but they can win a few playoff games, maybe even get "hot" at the right time and actually make a Conference championship game with Russ as QB... Folks forget that Arthur Smith is the Steelers new OC, he was the OC with Tennesee with Derrick Henry (Tannihill was the QB), imagine if that Titans team had Russ as QB... IJS LET RUSS COOK!!!!

Russ is cooked man. The fact the Steelers have a strong team will help get wins but he is not a big upgrade. Defenses no longer respect him and blitz him constantly because he rarely makes them pay. @@macanthony1982 I’m sorry but his numbers aren’t all that close to when he was in Seattle. His last good season was 2020. In that season he threw for 4212 yards, rushed for 558, had 42 touchdowns, and a QBR of 67.1. Last year, which was massively better than the previous year, Russ threw for 3070 yards, rushed for 341, had 29 touchdowns, and a QBR of 50.7. He had only a single season in Seattle that was a sub 60 QBR. His first season with the Broncos it was 38.7. Now he may be an upgrade over what you had but his elite days are gone. So if the Steelers want to win a Super Bowl they are going to need a historically great defense to do so with Russ at the helm. Also I doubt very much they would have had any interest in him if he wasn’t essentially playing for free.

Russ took 45 sacks this year and 55 the year before...5.8% of his pass's were over the middle...27% of his pass's were behind the line of scrimmage..63% of his pass's were 5 yards or less....he throws a pick or fumbles at least once a game ...he can't read the defense and makes terrible decisions.. he's not elite..in my opinion he's not even average....

kinda surprising nobody mentions Mason Rudolph, as he was leading the NFL in stats for the games he played last year. Steelers should have offered him a lot more than Tennessee to stay as #2, likely to get some starts in Pittsburgh. I could care less about Pickett leaving, I'm not happy we were so nonchalant about losing Rudolph. First of all, Mason Rudolph is a starting NFL QB, not a backup.

I think poor offensive coaching, immature wide receivers, a defensive culture that played it too safe hindered him. Maybe I'm wrong though, maybe Pickett does really stink. But overall I think the Steelers didn't help him much with their offensive philosophy.

I am not convinced that Wilson is going to help Pittsburgh. Remember, from a financial standpoint, Wilson will be playing for Pittsburgh for free. The million Pittsburgh will pay Wilson will go to Denver. So Pittsburgh has no leverage. Wilson could decide to quit at any time and not lose any money. The only motivation Wilson has for playing well is his pride and legacy. Will those intangibles be enough? I don't know.

Geno 1-2 in Russ's absence; *2022:* Knee requiring postseason surgery, concussion. Missed two games... But Russ is still the most durable QB ever. He has missed about 5 games his entire career (6 if we include Geno taking over game-5 of 2021 when Russ was injured.

Russ will do it up different this time. Mike Tomlin isn't an unqualified, inexperienced HC like Nathaniel Hackett, nor is he a coach who dislikes Russ and has a reason to tank, unlike Sean Payton. He also manages the clock better late in games, unlike Pete Carroll.

Pickett has won more than Wilson over the past two seasons. However, Pickett has thrown just 13 touchdowns and averaged 6.3 yards per attempt in 25 NFL games. On the other hand, Wilson had 42 touchdowns while averaging 7.1 yards per pass the past two seasons. Mason Rudolph played 4 games, his first start in 2 years and did better than Wilson or Pickett. What could he have done in a full years time as a starter. Tomlin is a fool. Madden NFL said last January that the Steelers would let Rudolph go because the first time Pickett had a bad game the fan would be screaming for Rudolph to play. Fans can rule.

Payton is a tyrant and highly overrated. A blind man can see what Payton is about. He is not going to win anything in Denver. l' m glad Russ took the minimum and stuck it to the Broncos.
