Another important consideration is usable surface area. Empty space is useless for the gecko, so branches and egg carton are extremely useful in that regard.

depends on the size of the gecko, then they are young you dont want them in a large enclosure. They will literally starve trying to find their food. A 20 gal would be good for an adult size 25 grams and up and you want that tank on its side they like lots on room that is vertical because in the wild they live in trees.

Mimunimu what age? A juvenile crested gecko would most likely be good in that size, just make sure the gecko is eating. If it isn’t eating, move it to something a little bit smaller.
@Flochteethsoup23 жыл бұрын
The first thing I notice in the video is how amazing that first gecko's structure is! LOL Also, I don't think they should have to tolerate their living situations by being in a smaller tub. Sure they're probably not going to be depressed, but they're not happy either. Do you cohab? Lots of people advise against it, even if it works, because crested geckos aren't social animals, and they'll be simply tolerating the other gecko. Is that really a situation you'd want to put your gecko in? That's sort of how I view enclosure size. (Although cohabing does promote a bigger risk than enclosure size.) Another thing to keep in mind is that it varies from individual to individual. For example, you might have an individual who thinks a 100 gallon enclosure is small, while another feels stressed in a 20 gallon because it's too big. That being said it's always good to experiment with your choices to see what works for your individual! (So erm... maybe go for bins while you're experementing, and buy the actually enclosure when you know what size they want! 😉) Just a tip! Edit: *Me reading this over* "Yikes this is long, lmao"

I hope most owners will go a lot further than what your showing here. It doesn't look like your providing lighting, UVB or a temperature gradient so the gecko can find a place that's most comfortable for him/her. I'm sure your doing more for your reptiles than the impression the video gives. Wouldn't it better to pass along information showing the best way to care for a crested gecko instead the most basic tank that it won't die in. I know some keepers are under the impression that good lighting, a UVB bulb, higher humidity levels (like in New Caledonia)and a temperature gradient aren't needed for a crested gecko tank but it's just not true. They need more than the basics to really thrive rather than just survive.

@JohnSmith.12 жыл бұрын
I am in the same position as you right now lol in Canada and my room temps pretty much at 70-74 all the time, for the humidity from what I've learned you just give it a good spray twice a day like the plants and enclosure walls, and UVB is good for any reptile really as long as u don't over due it the pet store recommend for me UVB 5.0 (smaller bulb) and that will also raise ur temp a couple degrees and help with a day and night cycle (12 hours on 12 off)- this is just all info I have gathered over the last month hope it helps if you're still wondering.
