The only thing I find better about the original 2010 version is the tone of Columbia; it has that horror feel to it which was more fitting for the Bioshock franchise. But that is not to say that the final version wasn't good, it still had some of the best atmosphere of any game out there, I just wish they'd apply that great atmosphere towards a style more like their predecessor.

Blake Dusa Dishonored had a very rushed, mediocre ending. The gameplay was a ton of fun. But calling it superior...i dunno. It has a very lazy evil/hero mechanic and storywise it was decent up untill the granny "bossfight". From that point on (As far as i can remember) it went downhill (Maybe even before that). I haven't played Bioshock Infinite enough to compare the two.

You didn't mention that one of the original ideas for Infinite was that using Elizabeth's powers were supposed to physically hurt Elizabeth, meaning that the more you used them, the more she would show signs of damage.

The original game looked like something we could have never got. It was too ahead of its time and was just a polished demo. A perfect demo like that could never have been a full-fledged game. Maybe that could have been the case today, but not then. Maybe on PC then, but not on consoles. What we got, while much different, was story over combat, and I feel the thematic experience was better than the action-packed shooter of before. Though the creepy atmosphere of the original demo was missed.
@Y2Crouch8 жыл бұрын
The final thing wasn't a full-fledged game either. It was just a scripted corridor shooter.
@onyxtay72468 жыл бұрын
I actually really liked the combat, and while they may have sacrificed parts of it to make the story better I find that fine. For me the combat is what truly forged a bond between Booker and Elizabeth. The way that she was always there to help him, and helped pull off some of the most epic moments I've ever experienced was wonderful. Charging through a mob of men, and then leaping behind a bit of cover that wasn't there before, on the last bit of your health. Then jumping out as she throws you a medkit, you turn around as a motorized patriot spins up his gun, and you shoot him in the face. So I found the gameplay really good, and can't wait to play through it again on hard mode.

Its something that we could have gotten. Would it have taken longer to develop? probably. at that graphical fidelity? Definitely no. But it could have been done. My guess is that they couldn't find a way to portray the story that they wanted to, so they cut out everything but the story parts.

@onyxtay72468 жыл бұрын
Doesn't seem that way to me. The final game was really well done. People get upset over things being a bit smaller, but I'd rather have a game that takes a few hours to complete, and is really good instead of a game that takes 10 hours, and feels padded. I'll just play it again. I haven't beaten it on hard mode, and I still have to figure out the finer details of the story. Sometimes less is more.
@matt58988 жыл бұрын
Avarickan personally i liked the bioshock 1 and 2 gameplay. As i felt i need to use my plasmids to be efficient in taking down enemies. In infinite For the most part i solely used guns and felt the system for the vigors was awkward and it felt like another story based shooter, just my 2 cents.
@onyxtay72468 жыл бұрын
BigBoi 6 I will admit I didn't use vigors very much. Tough at the end I was using the return to sender vigor like no tomorrow. That and shock jockey were pretty much the only vigors I used the whole game. I still felt like the shooting was good though, and the fights were fast enough the didn't get tedious.
@matt58988 жыл бұрын
Avarickan Yeah. Id say the gunplay was very well done in infinite, but it overshadowed the seeming majority of lackluster vigors, with a few exceptions of course.
@onyxtay72468 жыл бұрын
BigBoi 6 Yup. They just weren't as useful as just shooting the enemies. Early on I used devil's kiss on turrets, but once I got the hand cannon I just shot it like twice and it would die. The problem is that vigors need to be based on utility, or CC. When they're based off damage they may as well be guns that are harder to shoot, and make it so you can't stun.

The reason our Bioshock was not as good is because the version shown in 2010 CLEARLY comes from the REVENGE OF THE JEDI universe, where George Lucas made it Revenge of the Jedi and not RETURN. Later George died in a car accident and the prequels never happened, preserving the Star Wars legacy. Sadly we live in the RETURN of THE JEDI universe, so we did not get the better version of Bioshock Infinite. Wasn't anyone paying attention!?

@billtree5210 жыл бұрын
I am a Star Wars nerd, and this was common knowledge a long time ago, but Lucas changed the title because he thought it was "weak" or "not the Jedi way" while others say it was to save a few bucks on poster ink. They actually printed a few hundred with the Revenge title before the movie came out. You can find them on eBay and I have seen them in person. The original title was Revenge of the Jedi. :D

My first few times I had went back I have seen cool areas and little secrets I hadn't have seen before.

For me after playing through Infinite, the most major disappointment was the rail system, or it's lack of freedom in it. I found that they'd pretty much only be used during battles or simply as a means to get to somewhere. The demo looked to have then implemented as a large part of the combat against the enemy AI (as they themselves were using it). The game was still awesome though, but I guess the team thought it would've forced them into non-linearity or an open world which Infinite wasn't aiming towards.
@olstar1810 жыл бұрын
I think its more about how much effort it would have taken to both make the world as open as they originally wanted and have as meaningful a storyline as they wanted. Personally I'm glad they focused on story.

I dislike the version of Bioshock Infinite that was shipped. The fact that it could of been so much better, the fact that it could of SURPASSED the original bioshock compared to what we got is: 1. Sad. 2. Dissapointing. 3. Lazy. It wasn't a bad game, it was actually a good game. But so many amazing scenes and elements were scrapped from the end game, we would of LOVED additional scenes and interactions with other characters. I am extremely grateful for the ending we recieved though, but I really would of loved alternate choices. They scrapped so much simply because of budget and rush, but I think that they should of learned from the failure of Bioshock 2 that taking time to make a game PERFECT is much better than rushing the game at the end of its development.
@NorthernRealmJackal11 жыл бұрын
Just to play devil's advocate: You don't actually *know* how it would have turned out, although you're welcome to guess. The many scrapped features, scenes and elements *look* cool, but then again, Bioshock Infinite is a game, not a movie - in other words: they may have looked cool, but obviously they didn't *turn out to feel* cool. Otherwise there would've been NO reason to scrap them. As for the "lazy"-complaint, that is just stupid. It's like saying that, say.. rewriting a book 3 times before you're satisfied with it, is "lazy". On the contrary, I think the words you should be looking for are "ambitious" and "self-reflective".
@TheFlyingPineapple11 жыл бұрын
I completely disagree, Infinite was far better than either of the two prior game as far as I'm concerned. And as for which version was best, I'd take the release copy any day. The demos released in the three year run up made it all seem just too much like a Hollywood action movie, and Elizabeth's persona was so wrong for someone who had been locked in a tower their whole life and who had only ever interacted with a mechanized bird.
@ChoooooChoooTrain11 жыл бұрын
TheFlyingPineapple And the retail version wasn't a big blockbuster, it's full of explosions and big gun fights the only difference is the ones we got were scripted. The Elizabeth we got isn't realistic either, she is outgoing, talkative, friendly and fine with social interactions.

***** I greatly enjoyed Infinite, and knowing what could have been is a bit disappointing, but I do agree. It's the PS3 and 360 that couldn't handle the envision that Ken Levine had. Hopefully, when the next one comes out for Next Gen, it will match what Bioshock infinite could have been.

What I want to know is why did Kevin Lavine not explain why did it change so much? Now When I ask this question, I am referring to the bar scene, the horse dying scene, or the scene in the museum when song bird is looking for booker and elizabeth. Game-play changes are understandable given how making a game will shift and change over time. But Why remove the bar scene entirely? This is really makes you feel like you falling into a madness that you experiance through out the game during the parallel universe missions. Why Remove the White Horse dying scene when that had nothing to do with gameplay mechanics but immersion? That scene was nothing but immerse and can have been added during the fall of Columbia, but instead it was removed entirely. Why Remove the museum scene when that adds another level of immersion to the game with songbird hunting you down, even if they are all cut scenes or scripted. I think these scene would have been great in the final product as actual cut scenes. I can understand why the game shifted from sandbox gameplay and elizabeth combo vigor attacks towards traditional shooting with powers as the game will evolve towards different mechanics through out development but why remove the scenes that had nothing to do with gameplay but immersion? I felt those scenes should have been added not shoe horned or entirely removed from the game. All of these scenes were powerful and gave tons of character development that said more about elizabeth and booker than most scenes in bioshock infinite. Great Game still but cannot hide my disappointment with such decisions.

i like the sandbox idea but the game would made me explore forever and would slow down the pace of the game. With the way Bioshock tells stories, with Voxiphones and Kinetiscopes, searching for those in a sandbox would be near impossible.

I find it funny that early demos in the game sort of spoil the final game. Like the Vox Populi ending up being villains would have benefitted more if we didn't see them as villains in early versions because it would have been a nice little twist and a good way to illustrate the theme of extremist ideologies being corrupting idea that the bioshock series seems to hold.

OK, I will be the one, to break it down. The game we were presented in 2010 / 2011 is something called verticall slice. Its a short part of a game that serves as a proof of concept/quality for the audience. Verticall slices may be a demo version of the game, but more often than not, they are heavilly polished/rendered videos that mimick the gameplay. And because of that these videos will always look better than in games. There is a reason there is a warning that says this is not the finall version of the product and may change drastically. Sure this video looks awesome fun compare to most level of finall bioshock. But maybe it was impossible to make a open worldish game with the AI that reacts on you, themselves and elizabeth differently. To program elizabeth to be a real help in combat and not for combat to be scripted. To program songbird ot be a constant threat in the world etc.. Its not bad as colonial marines, so Iam satisfied with the game.
@MrHoldenthehat11 жыл бұрын
even if that was just a demo the end product did not even come close to what they had showed us witch leaves me to think they screwed up and lost there work some how and had to almost start all over . that would be the only reason for how many good ideas they killed for the sake of what seams to be rushing the game to shelves.graphics do not matter if the game play and atmosphere are dry as Phyllas Diller's box .
@Gladix77711 жыл бұрын
Aggreed. It would suggest they need to do some drasticall changes.
@Gladix77711 жыл бұрын
***** That is the generall understanding. Hoewer in today's day and time it is mostly used as an marketing device. You show how cool concept this is, but in reality you are only doing heavilly "rendered" verticall slice of a game that should hipe you up. But when it actually get in the hands of the game designers. They "maybe" suddenly realise that this, this, this isnt possible. This, have to be remade in order to mach real gameplay, this needs to be little bit more simpler, because publisher isnt sure people will know how to press that extra button. And AI designers are just insisting that programming elisabeth to be reall help in combat on any difficulty while not reducing it to just quick time event is impossible. What is left is finall game that may be roughly the same like demo. Well when you actually look on the demo, it differs from the game in minisqule ways, well aside from obvious.
@Gladix77711 жыл бұрын
***** Yeah they did. I really enjoyed it. But what I had the biggest problem was more of a gameplay issues. For example the vigor combo's werent nearly as obvious (at least for me) Things like possesion x fire seemed really dumb to me. And the vigors were more specialized, which paradoxically led to less fun and flexibility. I just used bronco and hand cannon the whole game. And that fucking handyman. In other bioshocks I enjoyed the big daddies. They telegraphed theyr attack, they did reasonable damage, they reacted on damage. But handyman's were just bullet sponges, that were practically imune to vigors and aside from 1 animation they didnt reacted at damage at all. A big fucking bullet sponges that were annying to fight with. But I think elizabeth was the best AI companion that was programmed geniously and her support role made sense. And songbird was reall dissapointement. But aside from that it was a nice game. And I couldnt wish for better story.

When dev goes out of his way to sell Boys of silence as "not your boring old camera", and then they are practically one, you know it ain't a case. When a transportation system connecting different parts of wonder city separate into nonsensical rails between constantly moving isles and useless loops around square arenas, you know something went bad during development. When a power to turn a human into a murderous psychopath and then force him to commit suicide is given away for free, its origin never explained, you know the script is a mess. When a nemesis monster doesn't get any payoff, or explanation, or even a place, a purpose in the narrative, you know you've encountered a clusterfuck of a game.

Yeah, a lot of disappointments when I first played the game. It was amazing, don't get me wrong, but the all around game mechanics were diminished slowly...I watched all the development game plays and demos as I waited ever so anxiously, and when I finally bought the game, I was a bit disappointed :/ Much of the cooler, more active game mechanics vanished, and style and graphics for not just Elizabeth, but everyone else diminished too...but mostly Elizabeth. Her face looked more real and moved more accurately, but by the 2013 release, her face became paler, and her lip movements were a bit off. Also, environments changed, which kinda upset me even further (i.e. map sizes, environment responses to explosions and fire, and much more). This all came down, but that doesn't mean it deserves the praise and number of awards it received in 2013.

I 100% agree on your points. Poor artwork overhaul from gloomy more lifelike characters to those fallout quality characters. Poor physics on enviroment. Lot of epic moments removed. Not to mention that newer game should always keep the main strengths of older one and improve on them. But here we can only have couple of weapons, no different ammo, no alt fire, half of weapons are same as others with just different look, allmost no places to use vigors cleverly etc. But my biggest dissapointment was that I really expected to be kind of an infiltrator in this living and breathing city, moving back and forth between places, speaking to people for clues, doing sidequests etc. at the same time trying not to act out of character or expose myself etc. Basically I expected the game to be more intelligent, to have more roleplaying elements etc. In reality there was little bit touring around, everything looked pretty and then all the citizens kinda vanished and it all just turned into mindless shooting gallery. Also even though the game is supposed to give a variety what guns or vigors to use then is reality if playing on harder difficulties its only certain combos that work.
@EvanOfTheDarkness10 жыл бұрын
It's a shame that they decided to nerf Elizabeth's powers. In the final game she is almost completely useless. Also the story was probably a lot different back then, the whole Multiverse thing is a sorry excuse for a story, that even conflits with Elizabeth's powers.
@EvanOfTheDarkness10 жыл бұрын
fhhh Yeah, but that's true for all female NPC ever. Bioshock promised that Elizabeth would be different, but they went back on that. Also, the fact that Booker is actually her dad, makes the whole game setup feel a little incestuous. The creators must have known that, because they tried to minimize any sexual tension between Booker and Elizabeth, to the point, where you are left wondering, why the hell is it that the two main character of the story, show absolutely no interest in each other? I think there was, there had to be, a better story for this game, left forever on the planning board.
@EvanOfTheDarkness10 жыл бұрын
fhhh "Every time she says Mr Duwitt though, it gives me a boner." Yeah, exactly that. We play 90% of B.I. playing Booker, under the assumption he and Elizabeth will get together in the end. Elizabeth isn't as over sexualized as Bayonetta, but she is still a fine woman, and obviously a damsel in distress, and booker isn't that old himself, thanks to the time travelling mumbo-jumbo, so that was the obvious expectation. It's just weird to find out at the end of the game, that you were rooting for Booker to bone his own daughter... The creators tried to make their relationship purely platonic, but they also wanted us to somewhat care, and still keep the player in the dark about the whole father-daughter thing. In short it's a mess.

The 2010 trailer looked really cool, and really dark. There was a certain theme we really didn't get a good look at. Balloons, being one of them, instead of quantum mechanics making the islands float, and the gloomy feel, mixed with the....overall outlay of the city, it had an aesthetic feel to it that the final game didn't really give me. I was really looking forward to the bar scene, especially, with the telekinesis and the cannon and whatnot, and that scene with Saltonstall before using the sky-hook...the entire outlay of the city, in that section, I don't know why, but it appealed to me quite a lot, and didn't quite compare to the final version's feel. Still, I liked the final version, but....I liked the original trailer, too.

Multiple zones connected with railings, potential for areas to float in and then out based on what time it is in game, sheesh, the the portal to the 80s alone had amazing potential that never amounted to anything. The cannon fire crumbling a tower in front of you, the raven dudes that seem to build up to something but just disappear after their encounter, the crazy racism for... reasons? Getting off topic, don't want to dis the game as you enjoy it, but in short, Goodnight Irene was the highlight. Bioshock scene at the end was nice, but just made me wish the writing in Infinite was as good as it was in the original.

I'd rather have had magic than try to explain it with bad science. A problem with skyhooks is it limits the ability of the floating buildings to move relative to each other as the skyrails hold them together. Though the buildings move a bit it never comes up how the city is made up of components that can move laterally and up and down relative to each other, some may crash to the ground or collide with a mountain.
@PenThatDoesNotWrite11 жыл бұрын
I think what happened here was Ken sacrificing gameplay elements for the sake of plot and setting. The changes made Elizabeth a more profound character, the setting more believable and all the strange phenomena explainable through science and directly related to the story's core ideas, instead of just randomly spamming whatever was cool. And seeing as it resulted in Bioshock Infinite having one of the greatest stories and settings ever in a game, I wouldn't have it any other way. The combat might've been a lot cooler if they'd stuck with the old ideas, but the greatest things about this game would've been weaker.
@slvrcobra133711 жыл бұрын
So, let me get this straight: You're saying, legitimately saying, that it is 100% okay and completely ethical to absolutely ruin the gameplay of any given videogame, (franchise beloved by millions or not) if it advances the story? (And in this case it doesn't because all it really does is create plot holes.)
@PenThatDoesNotWrite11 жыл бұрын
You're exaggerating, like, a lot. The gameplay wasn't ruined, it just wasn't spectacular. It wasn't really a highlight of Infinite anyway, and personally it wasn't in the previous installments either. Bioshock's greatest strength has always been its incredible settings, characters and ideas. And I'm not going to get into an argument on KZbin again, done that too many times, but plot holes? There are quite a few little ones, but for the most part the story uses real science to tie together a diverse narrative and tell an extremely moving story of evil, and of redemption, and it does it amazingly well. They may have made quite a few cutbacks on some extremely ambitious gameplay ideas they had at the start, but that doesn't stop this game from being fantastic. This game is the work of talented individuals working their asses off to create a unique, detailed and moving experience, and it _shows_. So dislike it all you want, but have some respect. Very few developers put this much care into a big-budget game like this, and seeing people hung up on a lack of cleavage and Elizabeth not being a sorceress or something really pisses me off.
@slvrcobra133711 жыл бұрын
Pen That Doesn't Write Gameplay was not mind-blowing in previous Bioshocks, no, but however it was unique. It wasn't only the brilliant story, pacing and characters that made them special, but also the strategic, frantic, and sometimes horrifying combat and survival in-between. Although the multi-dimensional plotline is interesting, it makes some parts of the story seem awfully lazy (like skipping the Vox Rebellion) or contradict themselves (Elizabeth snatches Booker into the future before he could chase Songbird). These are examples of how not only the pacing is affected, but also it seems like interesting gameplay opportunities were missed, like slowly building the Rebellion or chasing Songbird through the stormy skies of Colombia, respectively. There are numerous other instances like this that feel like it was rushed, something was dropped, or was simply a waste of potential. It's not so much that changes were made to a game post-release, that's always expected and is nothing new. It's that nearly every feature or story element present in the pre-release demos was scaled back, significantly altered, or removed entirely, which is unacceptable. Especially when you add the fact that it may have been caused by Ken Levine tossing too many ideas at the designers, causing some to leave before the production deadline. As you can see, this goes much deeper than a character not having huge tits and using "science" instead of magic, so it'd be wise not to make assumptions when you state such a claim.

I was really looking forward to that scene with the execution and Elizabeth trying to save the horse. A lot of the time, some of the science/religion stuff flies right over my head. So when Comstock's wife's ghost was in the game I was completely confused. A ghost seemed like a weird addition to the game, unless done in a similar manner to when Jack kept seeing glimpses of the past. Sometimes there wasn't enough of the "better" bad guys. And for me, the Vox Populi story line wasn't integrated well enough. I didn't have that same sense of care and intrigue as I did with the previous Bioshocks. While I liked the beautiful world built around Infinite, I didn't feel any attachment whatsoever to any of the people outside of Elizabeth, Songbird, and to a much lesser extent Comstock and Booker. I also feel like the tears were watered down and under utilized. Even if their purpose was only to be there for Elizabeth to bring in more or different types of weapons, they should have had more scattered around the city to make it worthwhile.
@paulsnively33778 жыл бұрын
OK, I'll go ahead and say it: 1. Thank God they made Elizabeth less busty. First, because the old Liz looked ridiculous. Second, because it makes the reveal when she kills Daisy and puts on her mother's dress more impactful. 2. The old game looked more like a very combat-oriented first-person shooter, and what we played was a story with some pretty satisfying first-person shooter elements. I think that's a huge improvement. 3. I'm glad they chose fewer "Disney's Haunted Mansion on acid" elements and made Lady Comstock more of a character. It made both Lady Comstock and, by that time, Liz more sympathetic, and avoided the Jack-being-let-out-of-a-locked-freezer-by-a-figment-of-his-psychosis problem The Shining (movie) had, where it just couldn't commit to whether ghosts really existed or not. 4. I would have ragequit over a boss battle with Songbird. The three boss battles with Lady Comstock were PLENTY bad enough. Yeah, Lady Comstock was still a pretty thin character; the gobbledygook about her being half Lady Comstock and half Liz's anger was eyeroll-worthy, and some of the story/combat transitions weren't as smooth as I'm sure Irrational would have liked. These are trifling quibbles about the first game I've ever played to make me cry. (And no, I have not played "The Last of Us," and am unlikely to.)

I don't mean The Last of Us isn't amazing. I mean my heart is unlikely to be able to take it. 😀

Paul Snively Haha fair enough. Well, if you ever muster up the courage and enough tissues to play it, I highly suggest that you do. It is a very special experience.

Bioshock Infinite is a perfect game except for fighting Lady Comstock and finding the 3 tears. That part is absolutely horrid!

I hope they release a remastered edition of bioshock infinite (and bioshock 1 for that matter) that has the cool stuff that we never got from the 2010-11-12 demos.

I feel like early in development, Elizabeth was also to drink the vigors with Booker as you venture through Columbia. If needed too, she would fuse her powers with the ones from the vigors for more stronger attacks. The only downside is that she will get exhausted from their use.
@rosfell009 жыл бұрын
+cesarmanuel51 Imagine crafting combinations of different vigors between the two of them, like for example: trhowing a bunch of crows into a devils kiss trap set by Elizabeth to make them burst into flames or something like that, or combining the undertow with the shock jockey to create an electric whip, that would have been an interesting thing...
@KittyCandyGirlSarahAlison9 жыл бұрын
actaully these aren't vigors that Elizabeth uses.. she is much like bornd with them... she actually has Magnet, Melt, Tear, Nature, storm and lightning powers.... and this Elizabeth is still in Bioshock infinite..but you only can see her at the end of the game..
@TooCooFoYou9 жыл бұрын
❤SarahAlisonCameron❤ I only remember her creating a tear that went to Tornado Alley. Other than that, she was still the same as the beginning, except she has Songbird now.

Very sad I didn't get to see any of this, would have made the game alot more interesting, interactive and feel like I'm in a proper city and can interact with said city, rather than running through a pre-built path with the sole purpose of gunning down everyone I come across.

Really? I didn't like Elizabeth in that demo. Her bangs were too high on her forehead, and her face looked kinda morphed to me.
@ParaNoir9699 жыл бұрын
Well, yeah that's what I meant. I really didn't like her face, so I agree with you on that one. I meant I liked the physics on her hair, and the way her body was designed in the demo. They toned her down in the final version. But overall, her face does look better in the final version.
@Hannahtheseal10 жыл бұрын
The thing is, the demos were entirely what I was looking forward to, and then pretty much nothing was used. Which, I expected, but it was stuff I wanted to see. I would have preferred the reverse, where the current stuff was the demo and vice versa.
@MexicanMetlAC10 жыл бұрын
Exactly.We all got excited off of the demos and trailers they showed us. And like they said here, as little as 6 months prior to the games release we saw things that were not at all present in the final version. I just really wished the game was more open like the demo with the skyrail fight sequence. I wanted that to happen so bad.

If you ignore the fact that none of the footage shown in 2010 was of actual gameplay at all. Ken Levine himself explains that the 10 minute demo that came out back then was only designed to replicate what gameplay may look like. No actual gameplay footage was shown until 2011.

6:20 Spoiler warning, do not read if you haven't finished the game: I believe the reason for giving the guy a beard was to hide the fact he actually is Booker Dewitt in a reasonable way that doesn't involve plastic surgery (which didn't really exist in 1912, and would be doubtful they could pull it off convincingly even with their reverse engineered technology) to radically change the man's appearance.
@GhostPlanetFilms11 жыл бұрын
As much as I like this game, I noticed it just lacks that 4th of July-feel. There are less patriotic themes and feels in it, like the first few trailers had. The only time the game has such feels in the whole "Battleship Bay/Hall of Heroes" levels.
@slvrcobra133711 жыл бұрын
I feel you. They seem to have replaced overzealous Patriotism with religious fanaticism and pointless racism, and replaced magical themes with sci-fi BS.
@GhostPlanetFilms11 жыл бұрын
slvrcobra1337 Yeah, I know. For me, though, Elizabeth's powers in the old trailers never seemed like magic to me. It seemed like the classic "genetic re-modifications" thing liek in the first two games.

So funny that people are pissed off at one of the best games ever made because it wasn't what it was advertised as. Personally, I'm happy with what we got, even if there were some things in the original demos that looked really cool

+The Merc With a Mouth I'm guessing a lot of the people pissed wouldn't call it "one of the best games ever made".
@carterf35858 жыл бұрын
True. I guess I was saying it's pretty widely considered to be one of the best games ever made. Ken was definitely a bit too ambitious in the early going, but even scaled back the game is a masterpiece of storytelling
@RetepAdam8 жыл бұрын
I think it's widely considered a Top 5 (at the very least Top 10) game of the current decade. So, yeah. The narrative around it is pretty amusing - though I certainly get it.

In 2000 I played Shenmue and I was blown away at the amount of things in that game that I didn't know it had In 2013 I played bioshock infinite and it didn't even have all the stuff it had in a 10min trailer, the AI was crap, the gameplay limited Anyone who says games are getting better needs to stop drinking the koolaid, or stop shilling it....
@SimonvCleef9 жыл бұрын
ingusmant Yeah the game is still playable and fun in a way, but if you compare it to what they originally had in 2010 it pretty sucks. Also compared to the first two bioshocks games it's a bit poor. They should've waited for the ps4/xbox one before releasing the game if it was because of limitations that they removed the stuff of the 2010 trailer. But even then it wouldn't be as good as bioshock 1&2. Because most other ideas that were used in bioshock infinite final version were probably also in the things they had in 2010. With the gun upgrades and some other elements of the gameplay being ruined a bit if compared to the original two. But bioshock infinite is still one of the better average games of this gen (7th gen) that's also saying something of this gen.
@theelephantines21289 жыл бұрын
ingusmant True, it stuck to a certain formula I have seen before, even in certain COD games... but it was very straight cut, its only strong points were its story.

Is it just me or were the graphics/art style in 2010 superior? I feel like it looks more realistic, while Infinite took on a more cartoon appearance. Don't get me wrong, Infinite and Borderlands 2 etc. pull it off amazingly. But I'm still used to the old Bioshock's where it looked so real and immersed you completely.

when I saw this demo there in the distant past I was frightened by what I saw. everything happening in the game and the bizarre and random things that happened made me super curious about what was happening (the woman cleaning the shop on fire, changing scenery, crazed NPCs, the falling building, all this gave me the creeps). When gives me the final game was really disappointed. Elizabeth looks like a Disney princess, every Madness demo that attracted me disappeared and the game itself is only shots and more shots and when you think you just have to give more and more shots. I did not like it could have been different.
@Sperith07038 жыл бұрын
I think there were supposed to be eight or twelve endings as well, based on your relationship with Elizabeth, how much you used her powers, and whether or not Booker was a good person or not. There was going to be a lot more of that whole "your decisions affect the look of Booker and Elizabeth" and side objectives would have had you picking between the two factions. The game kept getting cancelled and revived, and Levine didn't even want it to have "BioShock" in the title, but the marketting goons wanted those extra sales. I /love/ BioShock Infinite, but even that's just the salvaged parts of a much, much, much more interesting game. I'm sure we'll get something more akin to the original concept in the next couple of years once they pull back together again.
@NeonDefense3854 жыл бұрын
I'd love a much darker and creepier bioshock. Cause that's what it has always been. The final Bioshock Infinite is just too beautiful it doesn't even feel that dark
