How Blind People Watch Ice Hockey with Licia Prehn

In this video, I'll show you how the legally blind and visually-impaired watch ice hockey. I use Viaplay on my PC, since I live in Finland. I hope you find this video informative.

It's cool to finally see another legally blind hockey fan! I'm a Sabres fan myself (yes I know we s*ck this year lol but I don't care - let's go Buffalo!) and I don't have any expensive TV packages (but did you say you get something through Netflix?!) so I listen to the radio online. I even get MY favorite announcer, Rick Jeanarette (probably butchering his name). He's the guy who came up with "top shelf where Mama hides the cookies" and many others. I do like Hockey Night in Canada too, though admittedly I'm usually rooting against the Canadian teams cuz they're all in Buffalo's division (Montreal, Toronto and Ottawa). But anyway, I wanted to tell you about a really cool feature on Windows (assuming your computer is running Windows, sorry if it's not lol). There's a program called Magnifier that makes it possible to zoom in on areas of the screen so you can see stuff better. There's also a screen reader called NVDA that I sometimes use, it actually speaks what's on the screen. But it's the magnification software that makes the difference for me; I used to put my face way too close to the screen, before I learned about it, so I figured I'd pay it forward and share the info with a fellow hockey nut. :D

why don't you move your keyboard out of the way and bring the monitor forward to the edge of the desk so you are leaning over for a long period of time. Also you can hold down left ctrl + mouse wheel up or down to zoom in and out quickly.

You're so great! :) Do you sometimes listen it on radio while watching the game on your computer/TV? Because here (in Quebec... fan of the Habs, sorry. ;)), the announcers are WAY better to describe the game on the radio than on TV. You can follow the game perfectly without even watching it.

Since you're sitting so close to the screen I really recommend the software f.lux. It makes the screen slightly orange, making it much softer and less taxing on the eyes. After a while you don't notice the color diffrence at all. (Not sure if you're allowed to leave link on youtube, but it's the first link after googling flux, "justgetflux.com")
