How Blizzard Killed Mages Without Any Changes In Dragonflight / 10.0 + 10.1 Aberrus Discussion

going into Aberrus 10.1 and Vault of the Incarnates or other content like m+, mage has had some issues that started in Alpha and Beta Dragonflight with the flawed general and spec trees.

We won't be seeing the rise of the mage class for a long time. The biggest reason for this is that the evokars, a new class, do not receive the expected attention. My theory is this; Evokers will wait until they have a better position in the meta than mages or even become S+ tier. They don't touch mages by thinking. If they do this, no one will play evoker. For a long time, we will probably see mage work towards the middle of the expansion pack. However, until then, we will start to use our mages as sub-characters, since we will all be at a certain stage with other classes and specs. Remember what I said, evokar will be S+ tier. Because they want to do this, they don't want mages to occupy higher tiers. MDI also want to show people the potential of evokers. I think mages used to have the one of the best defensives (thats why most of the time was meta or nearly meta). But the have balanced that part and, as you say, They didnt show much love to mages... They have less builds than other clases. They have some niches, while other classes just can do dmg easier in all situations and more efficiently. Frost is dependent on fronzen orb and tank kiting Fire only works in high Keys, and you have to play around him And arcane has the SAME dmg profile as fire mage but simply worse

Here's my ideas: Frost Frozen orb should follow your Blizzard spell,(instead of going just forward) that way you dont suffer as much as now with tank positioning. Fire is probably fine, maybe give other talents some buffs, so we have other options rather than hardcasting pyroblast Arcane needs a TOTAL REWORK as they did with ret paladin. (Being Frost cleave oriented, fire single target rotation, it would be cool to have AoE sustained dmg build with arcane explosions, arcane bomb, arcane orb and maybe a cool new channeling spell like an Arcane Beam. Thank you for your video, we have to talk so They show some love for our class.

@@wwams9513 For me removing the gcd on mage barrier would already solve the defensive situation given that mirror, greater invis and mage barrier take up an gcd through an fight or key wasting all those gcds add up thats free dmg and depressing to do Arcane needs jesus the spec is in the swamps since 10.0 started in m+ but gets an contradicting tierset, similar for frost where it relies heavily on tank positioning but in m+ where there are many mechanics or affixes like entangeling its truly frustrating your blizzard suggestion sticks out as it would solve an lot of issues there for frost mage

while its saddening the new battle mage: devastation evoker is looking like its S tier in both m+,pvp and the raid Your also going from giga cringe uptime specs like fire skb or frost iv and the mess that is arcane to an extremely fluid rotation with devoker

The problem with mages, the DEVs have NO IDEA how to fix the mage classes from what they have slowly become. Fire mage has become a hard cast pyroblast machine. Frost is an Ice Lance casting machine. Arcane is useless without externals like PI. I play fire. I love fire. Though this is the first iteration of fire mage that has made me take a step back and say, "Why am I playing this class?" Pyroblast is a 3.5 second cast. I press the button, go the bathroom, eat something to eat, maybe take a nap. When I return to the computer, the cast finally goes off for a total of a 60k crit. Frost bolt does 50k crits. There is so much build up for so little payout. Yes, when the planets align you can see those really high 100k+ critical pyroblasts, but those are few and far between. Coming from a fire mage that has played fire since the end of TBC, fire mage is mostly just a dead spec right now.
