Do you think Bolton could have got to the Champions League if they backed Big Sam in the transfer window? 🤔

Based on the players he signed as soon as Newcastle gave him money to spend; No.

As a Bolton Fan and seeing the days of yesteryear and today (League Two) I suspect he did the right thing to move on but we had the potential to reach the Champions League. It's just a shame we didn't get the backing. Champions League is very expensive for a club like Bolton to maintain amongst the competition from other clubs. Will we see the likes of Bolton in the Champions League... I hope so but where the is potential there is always a way. We just need to get out of League Two first.

I loved Bolton in the early 2000s, they had such flair players and punched well above their weight.

Regarding Kevin Davies being the player to commit most fouls,you will find he was the most fouled against at the same time.

Big Sam quit in January when the board failed to back his attempts to sign a couple of big names (rumoured to be Vidic and Evra - who were going through a tough patch at Man United). The board asked him to reconsider and he agreed to see the season out. News broke that he was leaving a month before the end of the season. By that point he knew the team had fallen short of his aim of qualifying for the champions league, so he walked (with three fixtures left to play). They only gained a point from the final three fixtures (with Sammy Lee in charge), but managed to scrape into a Europa League spot.

Never knew that about Vidic and Evra, interesting!

The evra and vidic bit is true but before they went to United.
@robt43903 жыл бұрын
@@Jaaskelainen1993 Both Evra & Vidic signed for Man United in 2006. Big Sam’s last season with Bolton was 2006-07. That’s when he approached the board because when they turned him down, he wanted to quit straight away though was convinced to see the season out. As I understand it, his close friendship with Alex Ferguson tipped him off as to the fact both players had struggled to settle at United, which is why he approached the board about securing funds for a potential transfer.

Bolton were the tonic to Arsenal and Man.U. Sam was/is a legend for what he did.

Sam is a great down to earth chap, he still nips into the local Co-op/PO as I live in the same area as him, always says hello.

Also a fact about heirro is he enjoyed playing at bolt on most of his career because the pressure was less. Fact 2 Sam knew there was nothing he could teach heirro so asked him fo ideas

There is this odd belief outside of Bolton that Nakata failed at Bolton. This is totally incorrect. He was excellent and simply retired at the end of the season at the top of his game.

Joseph, big Sam and the England scandal, while he has a confidentiality clause preventing him from commenting, I think it should be investigated he left and his contract was fully paid up, it suggest there something not right, we all know o e writer for the telegraph was anti him (and suspect he did the hatchet job on Sam, the telegraph said was a team of reporters but if you remember the splash headline about cleaning g up soccer, never happend) He was appointed by one chairman who left after his appointment, and was replaced by two chancers who didn't want him, after being given permission I suspect they stitched him up with the help of the telegraph.
