Botswana is very much tied to South Africa. The government has to invest in developing medium size manufacturing and medium business promotion from South Africa and concentrate on eco-tourism. Perhaps it can build a power plant on the Zambezi, South Africa will be eternally indebted to them. Moreover, it should concentrate on developing its workforce (youth education) with engineering based vocations. There is a dire shortage of skilled artisans & engineers in the region. The one advantage in Botswana is the absence of corruption, this must be marketed to foreign business/investment coming into the region as it creates a stable base to operate from.
@MiningTheWorldYT Жыл бұрын
Great insight! The power plant idea sounds particularly compelling, given South Africa's issues.

well said, but i dont agree with you that there's no corruption in Botswana cause just recently some politically connected people sold covid PPE's to government at unreasonably exorbitant prices.

The Zambezi does not flow through Botswana. 😂 The government has setup an engineering school which has been churning out science and engineering graduates since 2017. Unfortunately, thousands of those graduates are roaming the streets due to unemployment. The same is true of artisans. You are right on the need to setup manufacturing in the country. The government has come up with various programs to encourage investment in such. These include financing, Tax breaks and a few others.

Solid informative video, much appreciated. If I may offer some constructive advice, it sounds like your microphone is distorting a bit on louder segments - I'd highly recommend looking into gain staging (-12dB target) and if possible upgrading your mic (Rode's Podmic offers great quality for a moderate price). Not sure if you're using an audio interface already or not, but Behringer's U-phoria line offers a good starting point.

Thanks for the advice, it's very useful as I'm learning the ropes with recording my own audio and, as you and others have noted, I haven't quite found the right mix. I have what's supposed to be a decent mic (Blue Yeti, with the gain set to around 8 o'clock, almost the lowest point possible) so I suspect my problem may lie in either my surroundings (makeshift home studio) or in the settings when I record (with Audacity), or maybe there's something else I'm missing. I'll read up on gain staging before recording my next video. If you have any other ideas on how to get the optimal audio with a Blue Yeti, or if you'd still recommend another mic - I'd be open to hearing it. And thanks again for putting the time into constructive feedback, for someone just starting out in the KZbin world, it's greatly appreciated.

Good work, I think Botswana needs to open its borders more to skilled workers from the SSA region, it's diamonds won't last forever, and with 2 million people, it needs to focus on being a skilled and service based economy, most skilled workers in SSA are tired of their countries, but Botswana makes it incredibly hard to move, you can't even get one week visas easily, continuing the trend of africans building siloed economies, they can be SSAs version of Gurgaon

Its always been the idea that we steer towards a skills based economy. Search for Botswana Innovation Hub (which is sometimes called Botswana silicon valley) and see what we are trying to achieve as far as skills development goes. Botswana also secured a new dealer with De Beers so we can take part in the value chain for our diamonds. As for allowing workers in the country, there is still high unemployment rate amongst the youth so the aim is to help them before opening boarders to workers
