It's funny that people actually think that's true... why would I watch a wedding? really, think about it... there's no reason to, it's not part of history, the only thing historical about it is that they're breaking Royalties by Marrying not only a peasant but an outsider... this is literally the death of the royal family.
@SEAL3416 жыл бұрын
Phexism "this is literally the death of the royal family." - Nope, it literally isn't. And it is history in the making and it's generates a lot of economic activity, and millions like it, so it's a win win, you miserable git.
@xehP6 жыл бұрын
Mr. Braddock It actually is... this is the generation in which the Royal family dies, it's history in their downfall... the royal family are popular because of their royalties and history... they're not abiding by royalty rules, they're lowering their standards, basically doing what anyone else can do and that's marry any class and any ethnicity. I'm not miserable at all, in-fact I'm glad this is happening to some extent, I'm only miserable that people are actually interested in this bollocks.

Phoebe HB Bank Holidays are too expensive. Royal Weddings actually generate revenue for the tax payer as they increases tourism and retail. But that would be cancelled out from the loss of productivity if we had a bank holiday. What’s the point in having a royal family if they don’t generate money?
@rsp92386 жыл бұрын

Actually, it’s reported that the royal family generate 1.2 billion pounds of revenue. This is without tourism, as the amount of money they generate from that is hard to estimate. The royal estates throughout the uk generate a lot of money. Though I can see why people don’t like the entitlement of the royal family.

@ozzybourne1996 жыл бұрын
Kind of sad to see so many British people here saying crap about the royal family. Why click on a video and watch said video if you do not care for nor like the royal family. The royal family have and will continue to provide a sense of security and consistency. They have and will continue to return money to her majesty's treasury via profits from the crown estate, the family only receives 15% of this. The queen will continue to pay from her personal finances for several items. No point coming to a video on royals saying we don't care while a lot of still do. There's a reason the queen has a higher approval rating then most politicians.

@RaymondHng6 жыл бұрын
And don't forget the £304.1 million from the Crown Estate given to the government. The tax bill for the British citizen is lower because of this annual revenue from the Crown Estate.
@raresmircea6 жыл бұрын
Any kind of public expenditure for a one-day celebration of two millionaire individuals is anything BUT a sane idea. Also, regarding public money, the BBC says: "[..]when we rang Thames Valley Police, it said: "We aren't going to give you any data I'm afraid - even though we know you love numbers." However, we do know £6.35m was spent by the Metropolitan Police (i.e. the taxpayer) on security for Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding. That's based on a 'Freedom of Information' request released to the Press Association." Secondly, "Bridebook.co.uk, a wedding planning service, says the total cost of the wedding could be £32m - including the cost of security." - i doubt that, but i'm certain it was well over 2-3 million pounds, which is a "filthy" sum considering the social context (even in UK) and considering it was for a one-day event. From CNN, "A royal wedding is a private, personal event, dressed up as a national occasion. That lets the royals use the wedding as a PR exercise and [expects] the taxpayer will pay a large part of the costs." "Taxpayers should not be funding a private wedding, no matter who is getting married," said Republic, a London-based group that campaigns against the British monarchy." - this sounds like common sense to me. And perhaps most importantly, to those saying that the royals are feeding the people and not the other way around (and mind you.. the royals don't eat what we eat :) - www.republic.org.uk/what-we-want/royal-finances

And did you know, _"Royals are born to rule."_ they are a master of ruling a country and not like democracy where a business man who have no experience rulling a single city decide to run a presidential campaign. Back in the days, The Royals is pretty tight schedule where at the age of 10, you must able to learn the economics and public speech. Which is why Royal are the perfect leader.

Immediate comments about wondering why Americans are interested in the British royal family lol. Let those people have their fun. ;P _I_ just think it’s funny America was so opposed to a monarchy back in the day, but now people enjoy looking at the royal family as basically celebrities.

But when it is arab royals, then its all bad lol.
@manhphuc43356 жыл бұрын
because they are celebrities, they have no actual power in anything, most of the gestures are symbolic anyway, we watch the royal wedding the same reason we watch celebrities talk show, it’s just a form tv drama about the rich.

You know, I always think who the first ever king/queen was of the first ever monarchy? It's not like they had royal blood to sit on a throne and rule the moment they were borm. How did they end up ruling and creating monarchy?

Jesus christ, Vox. No How about show us something that matters today, like the free Irish Border brexit is threatening?

toyotaprius79 because it is interesting to some people (not me) but they make lots of videos and the Irish border one will happen soon

Adam Desai I know, of course. But the subject of the border between Northern Ireland and Ireland has been a serious one for 2 years now. It was deliberately kept out of British space, and had gone nowhere internationally. Only now has it gotten attention given by how insurmountable it is and no one really elsewhere still understands it - because no one had heard of it in full to begin with. But then again, within one month everyone everywhere hypes up and makes a video on another Royal family wedding. *_*rolls eyes*_* Whatever that keeps the Proles happy I guess..

Have you ever looked at the themes runaway Murdoch tabloids like The Sun put out? It's like a worm in some people's heads, and via others like The Telegraph, they grab hold and undermine their government. Everyone else here in Europe is amazed by it. Can't I say that's a _little_ Orwellian? Or at least heading towards it?

Answer: They plan their wedding with that Colonial money. Having palaces won't hurt as well.

Rhys P Britain’s GDP was still heavily boosted by their colonial past, thus resulting in higher tax revenues comparatively. Semantics.

Rhys P The British Royal Family got rich by stealing resources from impoverished foreigners. Nice try.

Well Drive Just because some Indian leaders saw benefit in being ruled by the British, doesn't mean that the British Empire actually helped the Indian people. If you want to see how well the British would treat India, look up the Bengal Famine.

The British monarchy has existed for over 1000 years. They have always been and always will be rich ffs. Also I don't know what you think they personally took from colonies besides a few sparkling rocks.

I think the mood will be great! Although it's not going to be a public holiday like the last royal wedding, so probably far less crowds
