Most folks take it with snubs, but the extra range on the HPPCs is really respectable on the 6T. Excellent mech at almost all ranges.

How do you view the heat tradeoff with snubs v HPPC? Snub build feels like better sustained damage, but HPPC a better poker?

HPPC give more options. With SPPC you just have to go close. Honestly it depend on what do you like to do.
