My general problem is that while they've done a great job bringing characters to parity in S2 and 3, it's to the point where just about every character is becoming overpowered, while DLC characters entering the game are even more overpowered. So basically everyone is overpowered while some even more so. The end result is you get like two or three mix ups a match now per player, with the overwhelming majority of the match being consumed by a rehearsed juggle that is committed to muscle memory, therefore not being engaging for the player using it, and especially the player receiving it. This in turn reduces moveset variety as a lot of playstyles just are not viable, where as even if they weren't ideal in previous metas, they were at least viable. But with the second half of season 3 I noticed an immediate decrease in representation of characters representing those playstyles, as characters that can end the match in two juggles are predominately the choices to use. I think it does a disservice to the bottomless pit that is the full of depth gameplay that lies underneath the brain dead combos. On top of that, I also feel like it's not fun for anyone to watch either, as the most popular matches are by far the ones that incorporates the other more engaging gameplay systems. But when every single character can delete half your health bar as worst, while some delete two thirds by exploiting a single mistake, why bother? Just land a launcher and win. If that isn't a case of dominate strategy then I don't know what is.
