@honeybabes2017 for most reasons, its ignorance and being edgy. A lot of these edgy mlp fan content were made by people who were teens or young adults. These demographics tend to spend the most time on the internet and are more likely to care less about the consequences of the content they produced, so as a result, explicit contents appear. And with the Improper warnings, it's mostly that they didn't think much of it. It's something that isn't their first concern until somone points them out.

No, dude. COPPA existed BEFORE bronies. I'm so fed up with that misconception. That said, bronies are definitely part of the reason you can't make darker parodies of kids' shows without the owners of the IP having something to say about it, they permanently damaged fandom culture, they're the reason you can't say you're a fan of a kids' show in public without getting funny looks, they helped in the ever growing issue of kids being groomed online, and they're probably part of the reason parents want to censor the internet to protect Billy and Sally.

This happened to me too, it was so awful for my mental health to be seeing dark things i didn't fully understand and feel like it was completely inappropriate to ask questions about it, like I had a dark secret at the age of 9 I'm glad mlp helped a lot of men reject toxic masculinity and embrace something traditionally undervalued for being girly, but there's no arguing a lot of really sick minded people became so prevalent in the community, and most of them did not care if children saw their nsfw/gore creations (and most predators WANT children to find it) At the very least my experience has given me hindsight, and I try to educate my younger siblings and hopefully future children about these dangerous internet circles. Especially since it seems to have transferred over into KZbin kids animations.

Flash forward a few days, the teacher asks me what’s going on in all the pictures and I just cheerfully reply it’s ‘a scene from a my little pony video I saw!’ And she looked very concerned and explained how I can’t be showing pictures of ponies being literally mutilated to other kids and I was so confused bc I thought everyone liked gore/rainbow factory stuff but I was VERY disappointed she, the next day, the book was no longer in the pile of student books 💔💔💔

I remember when DEATH BATTLE made Starscream vs Rainbow Dash and Ben Singer, one of the creators said that they'd cancel the episode of Starscream won to not traumatise little girls who might stumble onto it. Bad for the VS community, but... after seeing videos like this, I knew that Ben was... onto something. And then Twilight vs Raven happened, and Twilight's death in the video was offscreen and no gore at all. And then there was Bill Cipher vs Discord. Despite the fact that Discord lost, the ending was still a happy one for the ponies. When a show called DEATH BATTLE uses these characters better than actual Bronies is... worrying and says a lot about this cesspit of a community.

Im glad more people are talking about this because holy, how did this even slide??? Like, I was a young kid looking at things I shouldn't have because of ADULT BRONIES. What's even more sad is that they "inspired" some of the younger audience they traumatized to continue the trend of trauma which just is horrible. Sure, kids shouldn't be online, but adults are actively invading kid content and distorting it which is just... wrong. They publicly post these demented things and the only excuse people have is "it's the internet lol." I'm fine with NSFW when it's in a proper place AWAY from the public. I don't care if people see me as a karen, it's how I feel and I don't EVER want my kid to go through what I had to with the internet. Kids deserve safe spaces free of exploitation. It's the responsibility of adult creators who know better to restrict child access to their creations, as well as the parents who should be monitoring what kids are accessing. Kids are just as allowed to watch KZbin as any of us. There are a ton of kid friendly creators on here, catering to young children as their target audience. Sure, we have KZbin Kids now to restrict access further, but that stuff didn't exist when I was younger. This stuff is seriously damaging, and as an adult, I feel it is our responsibility as mature people to do our best to avoid naïve kids from stumbling upon unsuitable stuff we create and understand. This stuff is damaging, point blank period, and it is not the responsibility of kids to just not watch it.

@@HandheldGamer1991 Amen. I'm tired of people crying for censorship instead of holding parents responsible for children roaming the internet unattended. You wouldn't let your kid loose at Walmart with no supervision, so why would you give them a screen with unfiltered internet access? And I had access to things I shouldn't have as a kid, too. I originally put a comment here but I think KZbin deleted due to its graphic language, so I’m going to make another one that isn’t as graphic so it doesn’t get deleted by KZbin. While I wasn’t in the Brony fandom, the Pokémon fandom was just as traumatic. Not in the Creepypasta area luckily, though I do remember the pictures and sprites associated with Hypno’s lullaby and Buried Alive scaring me when I was a kid, Hypno was just so uncanny in the artwork and the sprite of Buried Alive dragging the player character into the ground creeped me out as a kid. Thank Goodness I didn’t listen to the Hypno’s Lullaby song and didn’t listen to the audio of Buried Alive because that would’ve caused a lot more sleepless nights. No the most traumatic part of the Pokémon was the google image searching. You couldn’t google any Pokémon without weird DeviantArt art or hard core stuff coming up. Thank goodness I always found these images gross otherwise I don’t know what weird tastes I would’ve gotten or what addiction I could’ve been struggling with. When watching you’re iceberg videos on Gen Z childhood trauma, I thought I was lucky because I didn’t see most of the stuff on the iceberg and didn’t get traumatised by the horror or gorey stuff on the internet. But now actually thinking about it, I think my trauma was just as graphic as everyone else, just in a different way. I might make a video about the trauma I got from the Pokémon community since it’s not really a talked about issue. It’d also be cool if you did a video on it but I understand if you don’t want to do it to preserve your mental health. Take care. This comment originally went into more graphic detail about the things I saw but I think it got deleted by KZbin because of its graphic nature, so I toned it down so it didn’t get deleted a second time. Sorry for this long rant about the Pokémon community.

I was horribly traumatized by the brony community. As a young artist, I was often encouraged by adults, who knew I was a minor, to draw NSFW content of ponies, both of the characters in the show and of their ocs. I was told this kind of content was okay for me to be exposed too, and these adults would pay me lots of money and tip me well for doing so. I ended up "dating" 2 pedophiles in the brony community due to this, they both took advantage of me as an underage person and it was sickening. The fandom was very clique-y too, especially the art community. You were bullied horrendously if you didn't fit to the "horse famous" standards or if you didn't get along with someone with a popular OC. I had a neglectful mother who didn't care what I was doing online, or just didn't care about me, she knew I was dating adults and still didn't care. So my mother is partly to blame for the trauma I experienced. I'll never forget my time in the brony fandom, it set me up for the art business I have now, but it also gave me permanent, negative affects on my brain development as a child

I was 11 when the show came out, and thankfully I was able to dodge the disgusting side of the fandom. I do believe even after all this time that the actual show was well-written and great for audiences of any age. There were some truly amazing artists in the fandom who created wholesome and beautiful things (I still go back and rewatch "Lullaby for a Princess" every now and then, and it still makes me cry). But it breaks my heart knowing that there were so many kids damaged by the creepos in the fandom, and I really hope everyone who was affected is able to heal from it.

I was actually a kid when this MLP came out. At the time it was very comfortable knowing so many grown-ass man liked this show, I thought there was something wrong with me. I did have unrestricted access on the internet (my parents didn’t care just as long as it wasn’t affecting my grades. That and don’t talk to strangers online, no adult content , etc.) but it was still a fun time. I would log into Equestria Daily, well, daily. I read a lot of fanfics, and this show was the reason why I got into writing and reading funnily enough. Despite all the bad, and the many, MANY questionable things I saw, I still look back on it fondly. I was already familiar with Happy Tree Friends, Madness Combat, Whack your Boss, etc. so the Dark MLP creepypastas didn’t really bother me that much. Overall I can’t help but to look back at the show, it’s fandom, and it’s “dark side” all with nostalgia. I miss those days, honestly. Simpler times.

Great video, and this is coming from a former brony. Like you said and many others, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG about loving My Little Pony, it wasn't being frowned upon when it was back in the 2010s. Heck, some of my friends still love the show after it ended, I still have fanart of MLP (SFW crossovers and such). And NSFW is everywhere, and that's fine. But there has to be line where you watch, draw, read, and write NSFW (clopfics, grimdark) and not associate it to reality. Unfortunately, degenerates like them is what's tarnishing the community for outsiders and those that are or were in the community that makes them oversimplifying that everyone that is a brony a Diddler. That is what is extremely unfair to those that are kind, sweet, and just loving for the sake of it. But overall, you know that some will take this video as a personal attack against them, which it shouldn't if you're not one of those deplorable fans. All in all, good video. And to all those that are still fans of the show and are good natured. 👍 You're great. PS, H8 Seed, WoodenToaster, and LivingTombstone made some banger MLP songs

Yes it was censored, yes it was a small amount of footage, and yet it evoked this full body experience of disgust and mortification. It’s not as if I’m unfamiliar with it, far from it. It may just be the association with the loss of innocence with that video. Regarding the point about parenting and shielding your kids away from inappropriate content, in my case, I remember a few times when me or my sister got caught by our parents for having inappropriate stuff on our devices, but I only remember because of their reaction which, retrospectively, traumatised us more than the inappropriate content itself. They berated and punished us severely. In the end, it didn't change anything, only taught us to hide things better and carry a lot of self-hatred and guilt for something that *they* were supposed to protect us from. I just hope my parents could have handled the situation better because now it's hard to trust them with anything for fear of their reactions...

Talking for experience: the first time I came across gore was the cupcakes video. I clicked thinking it was something inoccent and then, I was traumatized, to the point I would have nightmares constantly and couldn't sleep properly or watch the show because it make me sick. I would cry out of fear because of how terrified I was everytime I saw Pinkie Pie anywhere. This kinda also made me get obssesed with Rainbow Factory, wich was also kinda bad for my age but i don't really complain on this one tho as an edgy scene guy myself, loved the aesthetic and being involved on my favorite mlp character at the time. This... was... a subject I would rather forget on my life, it kinda distorted some of my visions on certain things really, some of the for the good, yeah, but mostly for the bad... Again, thank you for showing and exposing this kind of content the brony community did and how it ended up toying with our minds as kids. Edit: That Rainbow factory cover was really dope tho XD

Gen Z will either be the best parents, or the worst. We’ve grown up with these platforms, we understand them, unlike our own parents. However, because of social media, we’ve also grown up around very dangerous ideologies and teenagers these days are either super immature, or super mature. There’s not usually a balance, or an understanding of real world situations and problems.

it’s sad to say but as a little girl i LOVED mlp and especially equestria girls with the human forms, i was so obsessed and it’s one of the reasons i started singing at a young age. however i can’t bare to sit through even an episode with my younger nephews when they watch it because all my mind can think about is the insane amount of gore and nsfw pony stuff i saw as a kid. it ruined my perception about such a lovely kids show made for friendship and my nieces and nephews question why i don’t watch it with them. its safe to say i made sure to our age restriction on all of their electronics. they share one ipad but its still one outlet to an internet filled with incels out to traumatize kids

"Furries are into.." no, not all furries, not MOST furries. Most furries were and still are children. Also these children, including you and I back then, shouldn't even have been on the internet unsupervised

I'd argue that there needs to be a DEGREE of supervision, but kids should still be allowed to find most shit on their own. Then again, my ass grew up with next-to-no supervision, so I don't know as if I have room to talk. I think we need to preserve that Wild West style of the internet, lest it just become generic, family-friendly slop all over with no edge or caution. Where parents can just let the glowing box raise their kids and not care at all.

@@ttpbroadcastingcompany.4460 I’d argue that the supervision is highly necessary, but that turning the internet squeaky-clean for them just ISN’T SUPERVISION, YOU [redacted]S OF PARENTS. What actual supervision would be is the parents vetting the content before showing it to their children. Parents not just handing their FOUR YEAR OLDS KZbin & ignoring them for hours, completely unaware of what they may be clicking on. Supervision ALWAYS COMES FROM OUTSIDE THE GLOWING BOX. THE GLOWING BOX IS NOT A PERSON, IT IS NOT CAPABLE OF SUPERVISION, ASHLEY. Letting a child access a completely clean version of the internet all on their own would still be unsupervised internet access, by definition. That would also be the sort of situation where both things could coexist, the internet could still be edgy & “Wild West”, but children wouldn’t often be exposed to things they can’t handle.

@@ttpbroadcastingcompany.4460 I agree to an extent. I think the internet should be a free and open space for the most part (I'm a huge advocate for creating your own website vs. using social media for everything, because they can and will dictate what you see/what you say). But I think it crosses a line when you're creating adult content for media aimed at children and posting it in mixed age spaces where anyone has access. As much as parents should be monitoring and guiding their kids internet usage it's also up to the artists/creators to be mature and recognise that there's a time and place for their works and posting them where children can see them is extremely antisocial, especially when mature/18+ tags that require a log in are readily available on most sites. I'd prefer that any kid that comes into contact with adult works were searching it out instead of finding it when they didn't want/ask for it.

As a veteran in the furry community, we gotta take responsibility. The furry community has an awful reputation and for a good reason. Untagged porn that anyone can stumble onto, lack of mature filters on submissions, nsfw content tagged with the original tags for the show. While i agree kids shouldn't be online unsupervised, because they "feel they're mature enough" or nonsense crap like this. it's also our responsibility to label our content accordingly and for fucks sake, for men in the furry community to stop being gross denegerates talking to minors.

18:25 i doubt anyone will see this, but when i was little i remember this video so vividly because i watched it for the first time on my uncle’s old ipad while hiding in the basement in the dark. i knew i shouldn’t have been watching youtube, but i wanted to anyways. my ipad was heating up really bad and at some point in the video the screen glitched and froze but the audio kept playing and i was SO horrified i could barely move for a minute or so before i stuffed the ipad underneath the futon i was sitting on and finally crept through the messy room and turned the lights on 😭

I have a vivid memory too! I was hanging out with my older cousin in my aunts office, and we were playing DS. When we finished our Mario party game, she shut the lights off and said she had something cool to show me. She started the video and handed me her phone, I was just glued to the screen in terror. She got up and ran out of the room, closing the door and blocking it. I was crying for her to let me out. My uncle heard the commotion luckily and she got in trouble. I never trusted her since then 😭

Y'know it's ironic that you mention the reuploads aren't age restricted because I remember briefly when Cupcakes HD (either it was a reupload or the original, I don't really remember) was not only not age restricted, but was falsely flagged by the algorithm as specifically for kids. Pretty sure the uploader took it down after that or it was flagged by very confused and concerned watchers/parents.

It’s funny, because I grew up with a very overprotective dad who works in tech. Not even his censorship could hide the traumatizing mlp vids I saw on KZbin. Also, I remember my little cousin liking mlp but he would always tell me he was putting it on for me “because you’re a girl, and it’s a girl show but I love you, so I also love the show”. I will never give up those memories of us on the couch, a snowy afternoon with my little pony playing :,). I was also a fan of g3 and g2, g4 is very special but I remember when rainbow dash had rarity’s personality 😭 Ty for letting me rant about this, this fandom traumatized me yet gave me real world connections I never would have had without it :,) thanks for reading if you did lol

As someone who stick to the show to the very end of the series, I remember seeing a few of these content back in the early 2010s but I was only in my 18s to early 20s at the time. I was just ending high school and starting college at that point but did I remember a lot of these things? Yes and No. All I can remember from most of this is how much the villain Chrysalis really put a dent in my mentality that I did believe I was her and she was me in a roleplaying community one time. Actually, it was really a tough psychological battle. In the beginning of all this, she was a blank template that I actually made a backstory for her and it really work out in my favor. Though the bad thing about it is that it did cost me a few actual friendships with people I made in the days that I would have to do the unthinkabke. I actually kept her lock and eye around my second year of university, so my sixth year in college. At that point, I had another ponysona OC that was suppose to represent the real me and I did live a good life for years. The cause was just listening to This Day Aria and it acted as a bad memory for Chrysalis to come back to haunt me. Truthfully, those thoughts did return to me about a year or two ago when I had to relisten to This Day Aria for the first time in years. I had to make amends and she was still taunting at me until we learn to cooperate. As of now, she's my partner, in terms of a Jojo Stand or a Persona next to my side as I learn we are one and the same, from my perspective. Is she better than the canonical Chrysalis? I would say so, yes, but man...all that bad MLP content actually created this weird, but everlasting persona for the rest of my life. I will say that MLP was really a wild trip back in those days. It did influence me to be kinda who I am today and do I regret it? Hit and miss but I still come back to enjoy it.

To be honest, until this video, I'd never actually given much thought to the long-term impacts of unrestricted internet access on kids. I've heard the odd joke every now and then, along the lines of the coolest people having been traumatised by this sort of content and kinda agreeing, but god damn. I was involved in so many 'edgy' communities as an older kid/ preteen. I was hugeeee into FNAF for many years, as well as the Brony community, Creepypasta, the furry community etc. I never really considered the impact that stuff had on me. I started viewing NSFW content from the age of 7 (probably sparked by the kind of stuff I was seeing in said communities), and began to display quite significant sexual deviance and hypersexuality before turning even 10 years old. I consumed a hell of a lot of gore content too, starting with indie animations on YT like those mentioned here, but I was viewing full on snuff films at the age of 12/13. I've always been described as quiet and polite, but my dad and certainly my sister, have a lot of memories of me displaying apathetic and sometimes quite violent, manipulative and threatening behaviour. I'm diagnosed with autism, so it could be as a result of that, but I do feel there's probably a deep correlation with the kind of depravity I was viewing at an age too young to properly understand what I was looking at. I'm glad gen Z has a pretty heavy attitude to not allowing our kids technology too young, and certainly keeping a close eye on what they're looking at. I think the blow only lands heavier at the fact that a lot of the people that were viewing content within niche, more 'cringe' fandoms like this tended to be on the autism spectrum, such is the case for myself, which can make it a lot harder to understand what is being viewed and why it is not appropriate to act upon/ replicate in real life, especially with gore and NSFW. Honestly, we joke about 'character building' from being exposed to this content young, but I think it's a very serious issue that needs to be discussed. Thank you for making this video and bringing awareness to such an obscure topic. I think it really highlights the need for responsibility as a creator in communities like this. Content like this should be allowed to exist, but should not be uploaded on a place like YT which is full of kids, or should at least have some kind of disclaimer/ age restriction. Parents also need to take a lot more responsibility with what kids are accessing at young ages, because the impact of this stuff is really serious. I exhibited a lot of violence against my younger sister as a result, and have had a very bizarre relationship with sex until this day, something I am only now fixing at the age of 19 through therapy. Please monitor what your kids watch.
