How Bryson Hits The Ball So Far... (Swing Breakdown)

Bryson DeChambeau obviously knows how to hit the golf ball far. Using my background in anatomy and biomechanics I explain a few things that Bryson does that allow him to hit the golf ball so far.
I tried to stay away from golf swing tips as I am not a golf professional. Instead, I focused on how Bryson uses his body and biomechanics during his powerful golf swing.
I do truly believe the points mentioned in this video can be implemented by anyone so that they can start hitting the ball further :)

This is quite possibly the best breakdown of Bryson's swing that I've ever seen. I've been working on copying Bryson's swing, as I believe it to be the natural evolution of Moe Norman's swing, and this video has provided a number of benchmarks to look for and achieve. I felt the explanations were incredibly well done without being over done. As I get older, I can go back to Moe's swing. For now, I want to rip it.

I'm a professional long driver, this was a really good explanation of the posterior sling, I feel like half the guys competing are aware of it and half are not, regardless, if you can't engage that in you're down swing none of the other stuff matters because your arms will lead your hips and you'll just transfer all your power into the ground and get a pull hook or push slice depending on where your timing is. When my hips are tight or if my right shoulder is too tight I can't get the rotation I need and can't swing. This was a really well done visualization of it.

@@bigirongolf8631 I appreciate the video, when your swinging over 140mph club head speed there is a lot of stuff that has to line up perfectly and sometimes there is a little thing you forgot about or didn't train as much because you were focusing on something else. So I found it to be very helpful - I really think if somone watches this and they can grasp 50% of what your saying they should be able to get 300 yards no problem. I'll also share a really odd thing that's got me re-assesing some things - a lot of the guys with top balls speed have dropped down to regular or seinor flex shafts it's really kinda crazy but I think that's why your seeing brysons club whip so much. My stiffest was 4X flex but you really lose a lot of feel and it feels like you have to kill it to get it to flex playing around with some of the lower flex shafts I jumped almost 10mph in club head speed, it's really kinda nuts, but from a physics standpoint it makes a lot of sense.

@@Findyournextguitar. +2 am here. 43 and can get 120mph still. That last part is a great kept secret. These rebar shafts in driver are speed killers. I’ve had an R flex ventus red in mine for a while. It’s hilarious how much easier it is than the TX it replaced.

Excellent explanation, I found this as an enhancement of Bryson's explanation of his use of the lats, which is what I was searching for when I came across your video. It's clear the lats need to be fired in sequence with rest of the posterior chain.

Thank you, very interesting. What I feel is missing, however, is the fact that Bryson hits the ball much harder than his peers, he almost throws himself off his feet to achieve extra distance. What is exceptionable about him is that he manages to hit the ball so straight, off the middle of the club face, with his, apparently, wild swing. He is still behind the long drive experts though they lack his accuracy. An interesting comparison is Wilco Nienaber who achieves comparable distance on the golf course with a more elegant, balanced swing.

...all this and yet you can't spell exceptional dude go back and look at the clips in the intro. Find ONE where he hits the ball straight. Bryson has learned, is learning, when to go after a drive and when to dial it back, which is what one basically has to do to keep their drives in play, no matter how hard or how far the ball goes. Even in LD you have to keep the ball in play. So the key is to adjust the power to the area available. again it's not rocket science

One thing I've observed in Bryson's downswing is that he allows his right hand to release through impact to square the face. Most "modern day" swing coaches are teaching to hold the right wrist angle through impact and beyond and just rotate the body to square the face. Bryon's technique obviously takes practice to develop the timing of it all but his distance results speak for itself. And, who wins every week on any pro tour? The guy/gal with the best timing throughout the tournament!
@merkeva1841
@merkeva1841 2 жыл бұрын
he might be pulling his hands because the hands have to travel much faster then the rotation of the chest and shoulders because the hands are in a bigger arc one of the biggest differences i see btw a high clubhead speed player and a lower one is the speed at which the hands start going down from top of the backswing in transition anyone can turn fast but how fast can you match that with your hands in sync

Personally I think Tony Finau's swing speed is much more impressive considering how much more effortless his swing is. If Finau was to hit the ball with a full swing and as aggressively as Dechambeau then he would probably reach ball speeds of 210 mph.

Easy. He swings the club and hits the ball. Doesn't take a masters in biomechanics to see that. He's picked up his distance partially by lifting and partially by following the advice of that long-haired hippie looking guy that you see at 1:50, who is the WLD champion for the 2nd consecutive year. Basically, just swing as hard as you can and hit the shit out of the ball. It does help when you hit the ball well despite that, and ultimately hitting the ball well and hard is all there is to it.

I don’t practice or watch golf and I play better than ever because the sole reason I stopped trying to swing like this… Believe me,if you haven’t been playing since a kid and your trying to swing like this you better be ready for some humiliation. Start the downswing at 70-80% power then reach 100 right before impact. Not this.
