I sorted the end of the downswing out back in the early 00's when I was in my 20's. After watching tons of footage of Tiger, I noticed he was doing the push off with his front foot and I worked on implementing it into my swing. I managed to get up to ~300 or so yards consistently before I paused playing golf for a long time. Just got back in this year and seeing that you have broken down all the aspects of a long-ball golf swing is awesome as it validates the things I discovered back then. Great video and thanks for sharing the information!

Bryson, thank you so very much. I'm a 50 year old "covid golfer" and even at my age, your lessons have me hitting 275 yard drives. My trainer said he wished he met me at 8 yrs old (I know, weird). But seriously, he said Arnold Palmer in his prime hit 1,000 balls every day. I'm not doing that, but I'm what I've coined as "speed striking" 100 balls as hard as I can every three days. I wish I started playing this game 40 years ago.

This is why I like my group. I have the raw power out of my normal playing group so I always go last so they get it in the fairway and then I get free range to swing as hard as I can and if it goes straight I get enough extra 50-75 yards on our tee shot. Been watching Bryson for a while and his tips really have helped me over the last year. I used to only get my driver to go 220ish now I can hit it 260-290 consistently with my longest drive being a 340 bomb

As a former long drive champ not knowing much about gear at the time (2000-2008), the trend back then was to hit the stiffest shafts possible as it was an ego battle of sorts - I regrettably played along instead of testing softer shafts costing me who knows how many yards in competition. 3X and 4X shafts were commonplace! Take Bryson's advice and go with softer flexes until you sacrifice too much control (on the golf course).
@rickymetzenbomb75482 ай бұрын
That is my main question, because Krank Golf is still selling the LD Driver they have with shaft flex options of X, XX, or XXX. Seems like it’s still the trend going extra stiff? I have never tried the senior flex before but from a physics standpoint seems to make sense.

Currently hitting a old Callaway Big Bertha standard shaft, recently had my first Flightscope session to see some number and hit most of my balls around 250-266 m (273-290yards). Still a way to go to get to your numbers but think with a longer shaft I might get a little closer. 😁 Just not many places in South-Africa that accommodate official long-drive sessions, and to be honest with the exchange rate from my currency to $, I might take some time to even start to compete. Looking forward to the journey and hope to see you and Kyle at the long-drive championships one day.

I used to compete in REMAX WLD back in the day, posted a 442 in Misquete in the late 00's. Although my swing wasn't as dramatic, everything here is foundationally solid, very good way of explaining where the force comes from. It is also VERY true that it is completely unnatural for the human body and if capable, you can push distances well past what is safe for your body. I don't regret all that training, but my lower back and hips do now all these years later. However, these basic principles can be utilized in any swing and doesn't need to be so violent to get massive distance gains for the average golfer.

Do you have a stretching routine before you start playing? I’m asking because I’m imagining it being hard to come down with all of this force without some sort of stretching. Plus, since I started working out, I’ve buffed my back up and I’ve had to play with a short swing which still goes 250, but I’m trying to gain more distance and not pull my back
