First live boxing event I'd ever been to was Spence vs. Porter in 2019. I did mainly because I knew I was watching a potential all-time great fighting in his prime, in Spence. Got love and respect for Errol, who is dynamic and a textbook great fighter. With that said, Terrence "Bud" Crawford is something different. He has one of the most gifted boxing skill sets I've ever seen in the history of the sport. Between Crawford's unmatched skill set and Spence's determination, I still struggle with a definitive choice of who I think will win the fight. But I'm still going with Bud, for now LOL

Durability and volume punching are elements that contribute to being great, especially if it’s a part of a formula that has produced an UNBLEMISHED record thus far. He’s potentially an all-time great. That’s what I clearly said in my original comment. He’s beaten basically all the top guys in his division except this guy he’s facing on July 29. He may not be your cup of tea but he’s undeniably great at what he does.

Having the fundamentals is not enough if you want to be elite, you need to up you're game, sharpen the craft and become a master in every department like Terrence Bud Crawford, he can do it all, he's a complete fighter also the brothers really good at wrestling and grappling which just shows you his state of mind, warrior.

Spence is about as pure and basic a boxer as you get. Everything Is thrown properly, feet in the right spots, timing and more, all textbook. He just has a lot of power and conditioning to add to what is essentially the textbook boxer. His lack of sloppiness is his superpower. He constantly gets you when you start to slip a little, or feint you in to one hard shot after another while keeping a clean guard and good movement to avoid taking a lot. Crawford is also as technically clean as Spence when he WANTS to be lol, but chooses as said here, a generally more open guard. He doesnt try to not languish early. His style IS languishing early and thats how he feels out timing and rhythms and more. Being a textbook clean boxer from BOTH stances just like Hagler however, on top of his canny countering? I think that takes the win here. Hes going to get hurt early. And if he can make it out of that, he usually turns the gas on by the 6th. After that, Spence has no chance, imo. Perfect switch hitters with a lot of power and good range in BOTH hands is super hard to beat. As all you guys say here, Spence has to get one BIG lead early and then try to hold on to it. Hes 33. Crawford is only 2yrs older.

@@pannychanman - high guard is the term for when a boxer keeps both his hands at head height which enables a consistent defence for blocking shots to the head, and yeah, this also means that both forearms and elbows are available to block body shots as well. Crawford does not always maintain such a consistent high guard, and I feel he did this intentionally, given Spence's tendency to rely on non-stop pressure. Once he was more comfortable in the later rounds, having established his timing, Crawford got looser with his guards and employed more hand feints.

Spence for all we think how strong he is, how big he is, what a body puncher he is, how aggressive he is, yes he's aggressive but behind the jab. Spence is cautiously aggressive and he will outbox you. Going into the fight, everybody thought Mikey Garcia had a chance against Spence by countering him but no he didn't, you know why 🤔 because Spence out jabbed him. When a guy is using the jab the right way from the right distance, it's very hard for a counter puncher to be at his A-game because he needs something to counter. And when you're jabbing and staying out of range and controlling at range with a jab, you're not giving a counter puncher anything to counter. Crawford is also a counter puncher and he waits and waits and waits to counter. That's how I see this fight between Spence and Crawford. Spence will not give Crawford what Porter gave him, a target just coming in where Crawford will be able to time him coming in with counters. Spence is going to hit him with jabs. Spence is going to come behind that southpaw jab and it's going to take a lot of Crawford's game away. The main part of Crawford's game is his counter punching. Crawford's ability to counter punch his opponents mistakes and recklessness. So to me this is the right break down but we'll see if it plays out that way but I'm picking Spence all day long. There are some people that say Terrence Crawford is going to beat Errol Spence Jr that really do underestimate what Errol Spence Jr can do in the ring. Spence is one of the most consistent pressure fighters I have ever seen and it's not reckless pressure. It's calculated pressure.

I think this fight comes down to the character of the fighters and I don't think Bud is as tough as Spence. Errol smiles when the going gets tough, not to fake out the other fighter, it's because he is having fun, it's like he is waiting for a challenge, he's a warrior looking to prove himself and he can't do that unless he has a worthy opponent. I don't think Crawford's skill, which is vast, overcomes Errol's toughness, determination and thirst for greatness. I do think it will be a fight to remember, without a doubt a classic.

Bud has been my favourite boxer(well him and Loma) for the last 5 years and as you said it he tends to get hit a lot in the early rounds which always makes me anxious. Errol Spence is a methodical and hard hitting southpaw and is probably the toughest opponent Crawford can ever face. I've been waiting for this bout for ages and Spence seems to have been postponing meeting Crawford forever. It should a great great fight.

Crawford was the duck last time. Spence unified 3 of the belts, challenged Crawford, Crawford ducked him and let his momentum cooldown. Sure spence ducked him before that, when Spence was too young and Crawford would have torn him to shreds. Spence was smart to wait, and likewise Crawford was then smart to make Spence wait while his momentum cools off. But it’s ridiculous to say either ducked the other when they both did it.

I’ve grown up watching both of these dudes grow. They’re the top of the top at their division. Spence is naturally bigger of the two. Both do things really well. The got good level changes, head movement solid, good footwork, great counter punching, solid jabs and decent power. The higher IQ I would say favors Bud, but Spence is right there too. I see the fight as a 50/50 honestly and love both. Honestly I hope it’s a razor thin match and it’s a good showing for us fans of the sweet science and something for casual fans to enjoy as well. For this clip about Bud I’ll say this. His switch hitting ability is what will make a difference. He’s good at setting traps and lulling his opponents into thinking everything’s okay and then strike like a cobra. Spence though, he’s no slouch and he’s got a good ass engine. I mean both dudes do. They can bang for 12 rounds. Awesome clip and this fight can’t come quick enough!!

100% agree. They're both two of my absolute favorite fighters to watch. If there's one thing that will make a difference it just might be that fluid movement. A great comparison fight to watch would be both of them having their turn with Porter ( another boxer I absolutely adore ). Crawford finished him quick though. I think that movement was the difference.

The basic fundamentals of Errol Spence Jr is very underrated. Spence is a pressure fighter. There are a lot of great fighters that have difficulty with pressure fighters because they are trying to figure them out and Shawn Porter is not as effective in his aggression. Errol Spence Jr is a totally different beast and fundamentally aggressive fighter. There is ability that Errol Spence Jr has shown with both Garcias to just box his way to a win. The boxing we saw going on back and forth between Crawford and Porter, when those two were trying to figure each other out, Errol Spence Jr is a much better boxer than Shawn Porter and you Crawford fans will be surprised with his boxing ability. It is more than just a jab. However we will see when the fight happens. I still think Shawn Porter would have made it to the 12th round and to the decision if his dad never threw the towel in but now we'll never know and it doesn't matter because Bud Crawford got the stoppage and I respect that. Let's give him all the credit in the world. But it isn't like Bud Crawford went in there and dominated Shawn Porter and just F**ked up Shawn Porter to such an extent where it was spectacular blow out like people are trying to make it out to be. That performance didn't outshine Errol Spence's performance. it looks like in a lot of his fights, Bud Crawford just waits ✋🏼 and waits ✋🏼 and waits ✋🏼 until the right time and out of nowhere he flurries and stops his opponents due to his fast counter punching. Bud Crawford looked gassed. I will be surprised if it goes the distance with Spence.

​@@ringmaster996Shawn Porter isn't the only aggressive fighter that Bud has faced though and Bud's proven to excel against pressure. Crawford didn't dominate Porter or outshine Spence so much. That's not what people are saying. What was impressive though was that from the opening bell, when Porter tried to rush him and chase him down, Bud was able to tame him with counters and movement unlike anyone else that Shawn had faced including Errol. He didn't allow Porter to fight the way he wanted. He controlled the pace of the fight even when he was slightly losing rounds. Spence may have the jab and be a better boxer than Porter, but he's not as quick and his footwork isn't as good either. Crawford isn't the slow footed, non-athlethic Garcia's either. Errol won't have the reach and athletic advantages he had against them. He's going to have to be better than we ever seen to beat Crawford.

@@ronreed1738 💯 these guys don’t know what they’re looking at with either fighter. They keep talking about Spence “sound fundamentals”. He keeps his hands up. But he gets off balance plenty, gets stuck on the front foot and backs up in straight lines. Spence has his own holes in his fundamentals. The difference is Bud will adjust and Spence will just do what he does but harder and that’s going to either keep him close or get him smoked.

I see spence building a early lead, due to his high work output. Bud is usually a slow starer, a see bud landing these great combinations later in the fight. I see this going the distance. Possible draw, or close decision can go either way. Just great to see these highly talented boxers fighting each other. Let the best man win.
