I am 65 and was brought up with my Mother's goulash, she always made it hotter in the winter months. My children were brought up on it too, love that recipes are passed down. I especially love Paprika Pork or Beef Cobbler. Delicious.

Calling Chimney cake iconic to Budapest is just insanely out of touch. Like, goddamn, I barely managed to find a place that sells it, much less one that's edible until like a year ago. Considering that it is actually from certain parts of Transylvania (the food is still Hungarian, but it is not really made in Hungary)

Transylvania was part of Hungary

@@Elixir9 WAS. Kürtös can be bought in Transilvania at the road side made by old grannys that taste better than what they showed here. Also those were tiny, it has to be at least 30 cm long and wide enough to fit around your hand as a bracelet. The most important thing is the sugar has to be drizzled on when they are very hot so it caramelizes and makes a thin crust that snaps when you bite into it.

@@slu8269I agree, when I was a kid chimney cake was only a thing in the Hungarian speaking parts of Transylvania (we did make it at home though) and it was really good. It became popular in Budapest and other places a lot later.
