Thanks for dusting off a decades long forgotten memory! :) Although I don't recall the name 'Kurger Bing', that cartoon character brought back some familiar, if very distant, memories. As a side note, Wizard Of Id was a hugely popular cartoon during that time; I wonder if Kurger was based on the King in that comic, vice versa, or perhaps too general of a comparison ?
