During X factor each girl had a role to play Lauren was shown and supposed to be the leader of the group, Ally the big sister, Dinah the goofy one, Normani the diva and camila relatable fan girl. After that the label decided to put camila out most because she had most followers because of her relatability. She had the most lines in songs and most outspoken during interviews. I think the four really became Fifth Harmony once she left the group but the label of course screwed them over

So she was clearly chosen first based on her looks and how marketable she is. All the members were ethnic but the woman of color mostly got the least exposure. Dinah is a polynesian/Pacific Islander , Normani is black , Ally is brown Mexican. So those 2 especially were the most loved by both the label and the fans

Sometimes the most distinctive/unique tone of the group help sell more records. Think about Diana Ross, T-Boyz, Kandi Burruss in Xscape or Slim from 112. Every lead singers isn't always the one with the most vocal range like MJ or Beyoncé and other groups. It's a lot of other factors. The public also relates to the youngest more when they are age differences as well. MJ was the youngest, Justin Timberlake was the youngest as well even tho JC was stronger vocally. They both were co-leading and had strong stage presence and could dance (JT being the better dancer tho). But Justin was younger and basically was in charge of their last album in terms of artistic direction. He brought Pharrell on Gone Girl and the rest is history and he was forming a couple with Britney who was the 'it girl". The girls were obssessed with him

So by the end of their 2nd album, she dipped. Rightfully so. Hell I would’ve done the same.

Camilla isn't a good singer. T-Boz has a very unique tone. She's not a great singer and alot of people don't like her voice but hee voice is what makes them stand out. Chili could've been any other singer because alot of singers have similar voices. As far as Britney Spears, the industry made her sing like that. Britney can actually belt and has a much better voice than her music shows. Groups tend to break up because of the inequality involved. There's always at least one singer of a group that has an amazing voice but is put in the background. When it comes to Beyonce and Destiny's child the original group could ALL sing. But as soon as 2 of the members wanted different management, that was it. Once they kicked Farrah out and it was Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle, like Beyonce said in that clip, everyone could sing lead because they COULD sing. Look at Danity Kane. They all sung lead but Shannon was definitely more of a background singer even though she could sing. But we know whatever group Puff puts together he makes sure to somehow break apart.

Normani is a fantastic dancer, but she could barely sing in the group and just never stood out...she was just...There. Lauren was the 'break out' IT girly after Camilla tbh Camilla always had that quirky personality which makes her more relatable and people draw to her. Camilla was my fav on the Xfactor, then after she left the group (cause the other girls were lowkey jealous she got all the attention) the other 4 and their fans were hating on camila

Camila Cabello reminds me of early Brittany Spears. That raspy nasaly ick sound. Honestly they were never going to be a fully cohesive group because they were forced to be together by a reality tv show competition. her name is pronounced CaMEEla CabeYO not CaMillUh CaBello. it's a spanish name and different from "Camilla" so it doesn't sound the same. Edit: Camila became the most marketed member because a lot of fifth harmony fans found her the funniest. Originally (better together era) they intended to market Lauren as the face of the group but switched to Camila after her popularity grew. Her distinct voice also helped. Camila's consistency with live vocals also helped. Their Kelly & Michael performance kind of showed that she had better breath control than everyone else.

Y’all in the comments are really rude and gross…let’s be honest here Camila was an incredible singer and if y’all wanna say that the other girls in the group were better singers than her how did Camila continue with her solo career striving immensely while the other girls didn’t as solo artists…Camila was the main singer not only cuz she had a unique voice but cuz she had immense voice stability and incredibly vocal technique…there are multiple times in 5th harmony live performances where the other girl seem tired and out of breath while camila still has a stable voice…and abt y’all hating on Camila’s voice,y’all are tripping…there’s been multiple professional vocal coaches that have praised Camila on her beautiful voice and immense vocal technique so y’all are just haters…and not to mention that as soon as Camila left the group 5th harmony’s career fell off and that’s when all the other girls started going solo too
