It's a bit of a convoluted system but I was able to follow most of it. Trading up the draft order makes sense but it's always risky. As we've opted for ready made players and got little in return from them it highlights the need to bring in youngsters.

Totally agree mate, 100% useless getting players in - especially when we aren't really contending. We need to get a core that is gonna bust chops. I like making list space so players like Hobbs and Tsatas get a true chance next season. And all the new draftees we bring in. Time for a decent list turnover with new blood, new excitement. We don't need Stringer and Shiel, especially when together they have value on the draft table. Pick purchasing is 100% on the table given GWS salary cap pressure and the fact they are contending with their current list. The draft is truly deep right out to round 3. Perfect for Rosa to show us how good he and his posse are at picking talent. Lets gets some project players in or some mature aged and see what gems we can find. Kako is an amazing first round selection. Maybe lets trade pick 9 if we think there are players in the 2nd round that are worth targeting?

I would be all-in on moving up the order - even potentially using a future first to get North's 2nd or WC's 3rd pick. Definitely getting into Melbourne's number 5 should be the target, as we will land potentially an elite player, while also being safe with Kako. I would also consider keeping our current number 9 pick, then offering StK or Freo our future first and maybe a future third to get a second top pick before the Kako bid. This is the type of draft where you would love to walk away with 3 first round players if possible.

You did a great job. Yes, we need more draft capital and we need Kako. I’d hate to lose pick 9 but that’s on the AFL and their stupid compensatory picks policy to clubs who can’t re-sign their own players. What a joke!

If we pick split with Richmond hoping that we get more than two picks given Tigers have almost 10 to play with. 42, 44 and one of 50 or 60. We got to make the most of pick 31. If we deal with GWS and they are keen for Stringer and Shiel; GWS can have both and pick 31 and Essendon have pick 21 and either 52 or 55 depending how much salary we are willing to pay for GWS. If we are willing to trade a F3 we could angle for pick 37 in place of 52, 55. we could also look at giving pick 31 to Demons for their picks 40, 48 and 53.

After Jack Graham compo Richmond has got a new pick 42. How about a Richmond pick swap: Essendon receive Richmond's picks 42,43,45 and 51 and Richmond get pick 31 and F3/4? Essendon accumulates 1379 draft points which should be enough for a bid at pick 7 for Kako? Dons need to turn pick 31 into 3 or 4 draft picks.

Split pick 31 to cover kako. Offer pick 9 and a future second to either north or richmond or melbourne to move up the draft order. Move on stringer + shiel + pay a chunk of their salary and get a late first, use that pick plus a future first for Houston.

Trade away Parish, you'll be able to afford young Kako then. Parish has become excess to requirements already given the rise of Caldwell and Durham. We need draft capital to afford the new kid, so send Parish down the road while he's still worth a dollar... and move on toward a better future. Brutal though entirely necessary. So why Parish? Because he's worth quite a bit more than Stringer and Laverde, although if Jake can still find a better home for himself... then send him there without any illfeeling. Laverde also. How much interest do you really think is there for Parish on the open market? And at the money he thinks he's worth? I think that's why the Geelong interest waned. And I think that's why he stayed with us. We were the only team out there willing to give him that kind of dough. I think the rest of the league knows the truth of what kind of footballer he is. Good on paper but not so much on the ground. I suspect we'll be stuck with a very expensive 'depth' mid for years to come. And he'd better get used to the twos because he can't play anywhere else and our other mids have gone past him.

The bit that won't go away is that we Are struggling with the lack of draft capital to take full advantage of this current draft. Parish is already a misfit in our best midfield mix, we need capital... so send him to who cares where. Hawthorn three Hodge Mitchell and Lewis out before any of them were finished, and now look at them in relation to where we finished this year. I'm like a broken record here, saying the same thing over and over. Nothing will happen unless we make it happen, so... make it happen! We absolutely must take full advantage of this current draft, we've gotta load the list with kids before Tassie comes online and ruins everything... which they will. Parish? He was always quantity over quality. Send him while he's still worth something!

Kako is not the answer to our forward line woes they need a strong key position forward who can mark and kick straight but the club will find out the hard way by wasting picks on a player kako who won't solve Essendon scoring percentage they also need 1 big inside midfielder and 1 strong defender ...
