Walking barefoot won't give the bacteria the dark-damp-warm environment in which they reproduce and create smelly by-products. Smelling my feet after a day of walking barefoot I don't discover anything offensive even before the shower.

Ah but if you don't wash your feet and you leave those bacteria there - or in the dark warm environment of your shoes lots of bacteria will thrive.

@@TreehutTV I take every opportunity to splash my feet in a stream or fountain of water, so refreshing. (Also we have microorganisms all over our bodies, nothing wrong with that in principle)
