With concerts, stage shows and film and TV production cancelled due to COVID-19, Australian performers have found some novel, positive and hilarious ways to keep themselves working, and entertained during the pandemic.
Well-known actors Lucy Durack, Wayne Hope, Robyn Butler and Eddie Perfect got together and created an isolation rom-com in 17 days.
Country music star Beccy Cole and wife Libby O’Donovan have come up with a unique way to keep up live performances without breaching restrictions.
And a story that has to be seen to be believed: the fake Russian choir "Dustyesky" from Mullumbimby has become a viral sensation in Russia during the pandemic.

The Washington Mens Camerata a number of years back looked for songs from countries with long traditions of choral music. They picked Russian and Welsh. Now we need these guys "canu yn Gymraeg""

Can anyone provide the names of the choir members, in addition to Glenn Wright and Andrew Swain? I’ve bought their EP and would like to complete the personnel data. Thanks.

Wouldn’t it have been “in character“ for the Russian choir to sing “Waltzing Matilda“ in an Aussie accent?

He doesn't have to do the stupid fake Russian accents with the terrible grammar. I know a lot of Russians who speak perfect English. It's patronising and not necessary. The choir is awesome too!

Fake Russian accent, fake feelings, fake everything. The guys don't even understand what they are singing about. If it's supposed to be humorous, then it's not. It's like making fun about a country's recent history, sometimes painful, sometimes devisive but mostly still sensitive to many. You, guys, don't belong there, you, guys, don't know it. Move on.

And you know what they are singing about? I dont think they are being humorous or mocking Russia in anyway, rather just having fun, is that so wrong? Even if they are faking the accent they aren't the first people to do so. Haven't you heard of people like Life of Boris? He is great. Soviet times were bad yes but Russia and the other countries apart of the former Soviet block aren't the only place that has experienced a negative history. They aren't mocking the great mother Russia да, the days of papa Stalin, yes it can be sensitive to certain people but there is people who love seeing people from other countries admire or try to learn about their homeland. I just don't see this as disrespectful. Also why you telling them to "move on"?

They like the music, they sing it. Many people sing in languages they don't know. I've been singing in choirs for 40 years, every single choir I have sung with has at least one song per set that the majority of them don't understand. It's not mocking, it's about enjoying sharing the music.

Judging by the name, you are Russian. I am also Russian, but I don’t understand your indignation. These guys like to sing Russian songs that are well suited to the male choir. They convey intonations well, and most importantly - they like the power and emotionality of these songs and they do it with obvious pleasure. Personally, I like to listen to them.

@@queenvictoria6030 I agree with you, but a thumb down for your phrase "Soviet times were bad yes". Not everything is so unambiguously. If you want to be objective & fair, then you should to know the history of Russia & the Soviet Union, to know about life in the USSR & the truth about Stalin. You only know anti-Soviet & anti-Russian propaganda by Uncle Sam. In the USSR something was bad & naive (as in other countries), but there was also a lot of good, so most ex-Soviet people remember the USSR as good. If life in the USSR were really so bad, as you sure, then the US & its vassals would not try to destroy the USSR. Now the West also seeks to destroy Russia & constantly lies about our country. And yeah, I like "Dustyesky", too. P.S. And also, when you read the next shit about Russia or USSR, written by some "Russian" etc, you should remember about huge number of anti-Russian trolls on the Internet today that pose as "Russians" and "experts on Russia."

@@MrDY888 bruh I really like Russia as a country I have a interest in Russian history and ect it's a very good country in my opinion. I may have stated the Soviet times were bad which is partly-mostly correct, I wasn't born in the Soviet times so I wouldn't have a clue and I dont really care for Uncle Sam and propaganda due to not following fake western media and not being an American myself, but I also seriously doubt it's was legendary times. The west doesn't want to delete Russia, Russia really is just doing it's own thing or doesn't do anything. Like I have never met anyone who wants to destroy Russia in anyway. The reason it appears that way is the reports of how the West sanction stuff, you only get sanctions from doing something not right. I feel like Russia is really just isolating itself and is in bad condition that needs to be fixed but of course I'm just eyes looking in. Bruh my information comes people who literally live in Russia and prove it, and people I know from the former Soviet Union or have family who are from Soviet Russia and reading just reading about it, I really do take a high interest global history and politics. A lot of my views on things dont run along side with western media I should add.
