This has been a great 2-part story on Australian Stoicism and its relationship with the Arts. Alongside the energy of Joel. Loved watching both.

As a student nurse I worked scout on many eye operations Fred Hollows performed in Sydney. He was pretty bombastic and he scared the hell out of me. To my relief, his theatre sister trusted me to set up the operating room.

Please name his films in your favorite order. I'm dying to see his work, so sorry as an American I haven't even heard his name before! Just happened upon this story. Heroic talking about mental health too.

This 2 part series has started my love with Australian Story. I'm so fortunate as an Australian tax payer to see my money going to such fantastic shows like this one. Now where to start in the immense back catalogue haha

If I could like this more. He is my generation. Animal Kingdom might quite possibly be the best Australian movie. The fact that it launched Ben Mendelson and Joel Edgerton. Two quality national treasures that Australians already knew about.

god he's so good. a lovely person and very talented. when he talks about panic attacks and substance abuse and self sabotaging behaviours I'm like yessss, speak it. it's so much more common than people want to admit. we keep it below the surface until we can't anymore. and when you're sensitive and an introvert it's really hard to learn to ask for help. I can relate so much and as I get older I have more of a handle on these things, but it's a daily process.

Searching through the Radio Times to see what movies are on tonight, one called Loving is showing tonight in the UK on good old BBC2. Naturally I took a look at the trailer, hit with emotion as the story jumped out at me, I knew this is something I want to absorb myself in. Checked out the cast, which lead me to this two part story of Joel.. so humble and true... what a beaut 🙏 thank you 💕 cannot wait for my film night to begin.. keep well everyone 🙂

You gotta love his desire to do something good with his life. You don't want to look back and see that you were a rich good for nothin. There's enough people like that in this world

I know too many people like that, who are rich and horrible people. just hoarding money. just total wastes of space. the desire to do good in the world should really be an individual's primary motivation in life. we should always come back to that.

his dad is a lawyer though. and as a law student I can tell you that a lot of people in the profession tend to think what they do is of more value than, say, what an artist does. and it's nonsense of course. but you inevitably internalise that
