I had an old iPad for years and had got used to all its quirks. Then a couple of weeks ago I finally decided to get an upgrade, so I went for the big iPad Pro with the M2 chip, and I couldn’t be happier. I am an illustrator so I downloaded Procreate as well as more brushes, and a vectoriser and for me it really is the best of the bunch.

Watching this from my iPad Pro 12.9” M2 This thing is a powerhouse and as an artist and illustrator coming from the first generation iPad Pro this is a game changer, I am so happy that I was able to upgrade to such a incredible device and with the Apple Pencil it was icing on the cake best investment I could have ever made

Why nobody except you is demonstrating sidecar with an M2 Ipad ? I want to see it in action with a macos drawing app but nobody uploaded a video showing that yet. It is incredible.

I skipped the M2 to get a good price on an M1. I use my iPad daily, but the Pencil, perhaps a few times a month? Still, I kinda wish I would have gotten the M2.

hi, may I ask how many RAM you have on your M1 and M2 ipad pro?

I don't think the rendered file is the exact same on the ipad when compared to the desktop version. There's gotta be some differences in render settings because thermal throttling cannot cause this big a difference. Unless the chip is like performing atleast a 1ghz slower which is very very bad. Or there's some update on the ipad that allows for better access to utilise the hardware, that has not yet gotten to the laptop. But thermal throttling should not cause this big a performance hit. In general.

The M2 iPad Pro has 2 more GPU cores for a total of 10 compared to 8 core GPU on that particular Macbook Air. Furthermore I believe he has a 1TB iPad Pro, meaning it has twice the amount of RAM compared to the Macbook Air In this video. These 2 reasons are probably why the M2 iPad Pro renders so much faster than the M2 Macbook Air.

I just bought the 5th gen for nursing school. I payed 715 from eBay used and just realized I could get the 6th gen new from Apple for an extra 60 bucks. Do you think that there would be a noticeable difference in a couple of years, and if so do you think it would be worth it to just get the 6th gen? Thx

2018 version Pro is still extremely capable

hardware has little performance gains compared to software optimizations, my guess that is whats going on here, someone spent more time optimizing the ipad version and not so much time on the macOS version.

I have the iPad Pro (M2) with 8Mb RAM (256Mb storage) and Davinci Resolve tends to struggle during playback. Do you have the iPad with the 16Mb RAM (1Tb + storage?)
