UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust kzbin.infoUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.

I'm confused. You kept calling it a jet wash, yet you used a brush, and the brush is what seemed to do all the damage. I was actually very curious as to what an ACTUAL jet wash would do.

+Sadpants McGee you gotta keep in mind that in most cases people will use the brush. I have a pressure washer at home, when i use it to wash my car, it just istn scront enough to leave it clean, so the sponge is always used, i would be surprised if you managed to clean real dirt from a car with just the jet.
@CaptainCocaine
@CaptainCocaine 8 жыл бұрын
tuga2112 I'm just saying they shouldn't call it a "Jet wash" and say a "jet wash" will damage your car, if the brush is doing the both the washing and the damage. They should call it a "brush wash." There are plenty of places where you can get a jet wash with no brush, so I was hoping to see what the results of that would be in terms of wash quality and paint damage potential compared to other methods.

even the hand car washers were doing it wrong! they were working from the bottom up instead of top down! bringing the larger pieces of grit up the car, problem is they just don't have the time to take care. answer is, if you're really worried about your paint, especially with a dark coloured car, then do it yourself

Best method is the 2 bucket wash, one bucket with soap and one to rinse out the wash mitt between panels, dry with a plush towel and detailer spray. Always wash all your towels and mitts before doing any work. You can also use a foam cannon, then you would only need 1 bucket to wash away the grit from your mitt as you work. Clean from top down and never use a towel you have dropped or put somewhere dirty. Last step is some spray wax, paste wax or sealant.

good mit, duel buckets one for dirt, air compressor to blow cracks and microfiber drying towel. Squeegees cam be used if you're trying to be quick but you have to wash them first and wipe the blade after every pass. Even then you risk dragging the contaminants that have fallen on the car after the wash especially if working outdoors.

White without metallic is the way to go. Although most won't believe it. Swirls invisible, water spots invisible, minor scratches almost invisible, bigger scratches and stone chips - easily repaintable without repainting the whole panel. Doesn't get as hot inside if you don't have a black interior. Also, little known fact. Waxes and Sealants last longer in Summer (-: But I've got to admit. You will feel the urge to wash it after driving just a few minutes in rain and you will be happy that climate change now threatens the insect population during summer.

My local car wash is a semi handwash and a mechanical wash. They spray the alloys with foam, use a brush on the windows and then pressure wash it all off and then you go through the washer which coats it in 3 waxes and at the end it uses a huge blow dryer to blow the water off.

What I have learned is that the most important part of the car wash is spending a lot of time rinsing off the dirt and when I start I always spend a good 15-30 mins hosing off it before washing. Always wash from roof down. Anything below the wheel wells wash twice, can never get 100% with one wash unless you wash like everyday day. Most of the crap tends to collect half below the car because of the tires shooting stuff that's on the road.

Here's my own car wash policy: 1. I never ever wash my car in the big mechanical brush systems because they hold grit (particularly the uncovered outdoor ones) from earlier cars. 2. My car is professionally hand-washed - first it is sprayed down with a paint-friendly solvent to loosen dirt and grime, then it is power-sprayed, then sponge-shampooed, then rinsed off, squidged and rubbed dry with clean cloth, and finally blow-dried with a handheld blower. This costs me just 23 euros, around the same price as a machine wash, but a lot more paintwork-friendly. When you acquire a car with good condition paintwork, the first thing you should do is get the paintwork sealed with a treatment like PermaShine or similar. This gets rid of microscopic scratches and it seals the paintwork in the way rainwater simply rolls off and road grit and grime doesn't get to the paintwork itself. After that treatment your car should get only handwashes like I described above. Then the paintwork will look like new for years.

Hy Adrian - This is how I (!) wash my car. Note : After purchase I clayed ( blue mild Chemical guys clay ) and applied the Collinite 476 wax ( my favorite : durability - price - gloss ) .. the car. 1. Wheels : Apply APC on the wheels and tires ( APC : Poorboys world - Megs - Autobrite Citrus Wash - Poorboys soaks the best - Megs is the mildest for the interior ). Use an EZ-brush and detail brush. Rinse. 2. Door shuts : first rinse to remove most of the sand and dirt - apply APC and use a brush or mitt - rinse. 3. Foam : Kärcher Ultra Foam with a drop of Autobrite Super Foam. Allow to soak for 5min. Rinse from bottom to top and horiontal. Wash the car using two buckets ( soap + rinse ) - lambswool mitt - Chemical guys maxi suds. My favorite. Dodo Juice has some great shampoo ... . Rinse. 4. I use my Honda leafblower to remove most of the water before using my Chemical Guys - wooly mammoth drying towel ( a must have ). 5. Clean windows : use short haired towels and meguiar professional glass cleaner concentrate ( the best one on the market imo, a gallon lasts + 1 year ) 6. Gloss : to boost the shine and remove water spots I use Chemical guys speed wipe - extremely easy to use - doesn't streak - flashes quick - the paint feels very smooth. From time to time I apply Autobrite brilliance glaze with wax to add a mirror shine ( takes 15min to apply and 15min to buff off - use a MF pad - a very pleasant product ). 7. Tires : Stay Fresh car care tire shine ( ordered in the states - have a look at their website ). Done. Questions? Feel free to ask. Also have a look at detailingworld and autogeek. Tons of information you can use. Shop : clean your car Tell me more about your car and the condition of the paint. Take care. Grtz

I have to throw in there that there was no high pressure only car wash exercise. All 3 methods shown involved some sort of material being in contact with the paint. High pressure only car washes are virtually all that exist where I am from and they are fantastic at knocking down the stuck on dirt and sand without ever touching the paint. Thus causing almost zero damage as compared to the other 3 methods demonstrated. Follow up with a detail spray wipe down and you got a winning combination.

i used the brush once not knowing what it would do to my car, i have black paint! how much is it to have your car detailed to fix this or any good methods to restoring the paint yourself?
@TheCowboy4000
@TheCowboy4000 5 жыл бұрын
You will need to use rubbing compound, with a dual action polisher, polish with a da polisher to remove the compound microscratches, finally follow up with a quality car wax/sealant. Ammo NYC is a amazing car detailer. Look up his videos. Hope this helps

To have someone do paint correction for you properly will cost anywhere from $200-$800 depending on the condition and the size of the vehicle.

I would never go to those Eastern European guys or use a car wash. Jet wash wise I only use the lance to clear the dirt from the lower part of the car and the alloys. The rest of the wash is done at home using two-bucket method, microfibre cloths etc. Usually takes 3-4 hours, car paintwork is protected but to be fair only stays clean for two days.

My 2 year old BMW 320 had to have the brake discs and callipers replaced due to severe corrosion caused by the Acid used by the car wash merchants to clean my alloy wheels.I no longer use any type of car wash outfits now, I much prefer to wash the car myself it's good exercise too.

I used to work at a car wash. The chemicals we use are not strong enough to remove tree tar so they aren't completely bad for the paint but I can assume it is bad to some extent.

By not actually removing the grit, when you then dry it you are scratching it.
@lightbluedemonfly
@lightbluedemonfly 7 жыл бұрын
The jet wash will remove the large pieces of grit but not the small ones, if you literally just spray and dry then you are scratching your car. The dirt needs to be agitated, also jet wash can actually damage paint if too strong apparently. ( I mean if you dry with something afterwards.)

Washing with a jet only 2-3 times a week is enough for me, and handwash for wheels when needed. Jetwash, strong solvent soap for 5 minutes and a jetwash again. Might not be as perfect as a handwash but it gets a bit dusty anyway as soon as you hit the road so.

I would go for the jet wash, with my own microfiber wash mitt and later dry it with my own microfiber towel. Thus nothing else touches the paint except water & my own microfibers. BTW, expecting that brush to be full of contaminants, when available I use it to clean my rims & tires :) :P

It’s hilarious how smug the detailer was during the hand wash, but after the automatic he said “that was painful to watch”. This truly proves that automatic washes are safer than any other wash method. What makes it funnier is that the auto wash used filament, which is a clear coat destroyer. Modern washes use a very smooth very soft closed cell foam that cannot absorb dirt, making it especially safe on the paint. The detailer also blamed the wrong thing for the hand wash scratches, both the squeegee and the wash mitts damage paint. From now on when people say automatic washes are the devil of clear coat, I’ll show them this video.

but you never remove the embedded road film, so when you dry it you're doing damage. You need friction of some type to remove the build up that occurs between washes. If you only wash once per month the road film and build up won't get removed with the hand wand and chemicals only. That only works for cars washed 1-3 times per week I used an auto car wash with micro fiber mitters and round abouts and with my car being black it does the least damage and since I only wash that car 2x per month it is the best option, my garage queen is 3 bucket hand wash by me every weekend except during winter, it is cleaned before being covered and stored for the snowy months

i remember when i was a teenager detailing cars and seeing cars that looked like they went through a autowash hundreds of times, just scratches striahgt up the entire tip of the car. nothing a little buffing wouldnt fix. im 36 years old and have never been in a auto wash in my life. way easier to just wash it at home, and in the winter i can usually do it at work

I'm not sure if this video is biased or not but I have managed to use a soft brush on "perfect" paint with no scratches for years.... I would have flipped out if ANY noticeable damage would have been done on my new car maybe a brush used by hundreds of people may produce scratches like these but I would not use this video as an example of what will happen to you if you use a new soft brush....

I have not done a car wash outside. Regularly I clean the dust with a "Jopasu car duster" (which is famous in India). The car duster does not give a sparkling shine. But just wipe off the dust and make the car neat. I water wash my car 3 or 4 months once manually with two bucket of water ( just using normal hair wash shampoo ). My car's paint was intact for 9 years. Then I sold my car.

They all damage one way or another. If you want to really lower the chances of scratches i suggest a good pre-wash such as snowfoam then pressure wash off. Then follow up with a good hand wash with a lambwool/microfibre mitt such as MicroFibre Madness Incredipad. Finally dry with a thick microfibre drying towel.

How about using the jet wash without the brush. People use that brush to clean their wheels and sometimes the undercarriage also.No brush or touchless car washes are the best tp keep your car”s clearcoat from disappearing air drying your car off with a coat of spray on sealant with microfiber cloth is the best.

rinse hard everywhere, thick foam soft hand brush lightly all over, rinse hard, one chamois to gently remove most water, second high quality clean chamois to finish off. ONLY use light pressure, enough to remove the water. And everything has to be thoroughly cleaned and rinsed before during and after. BIG mistake people make is using much more down pressure than necessary, and not having equipment 100% rinsed and clean. THE only thing you can protect against is the pre-swirling on a new car by the car yard when they washed the car incorrectly. MY car still has just a handful of light swirls, that were there when car was bought new. One day when/if they build up will use high quality very fine swirl remover. But since is a white car almost impossible to notice except in bright sunlight at certain time of day at a certain angle.

The only way to go is the self serve washes, don't touch the brush, only use the pressure washer and the foam gun. If its the dead of winter and there are freezing temps but you need to get the salt off the underside pick a car wash that does touchless with undercarriage wash too.
