When I was a kid my dad hired a Cuban guy. He told us that his job in Cuba was using Asbestos to rebuild brake shoes and brake pads. Thankfully he didn't do it for long before coming to the states. Of course back then they didn't know how dangerous Asbestos is. Just like these guys, they had few choices to earn a living. I still remember having to pay a core charge when buying brake pads. They make them so cheap now that you throw away the old ones.

So encouraging to see Pakistan moving into high-tech manufacturing. Joking aside, I remember I was in China in 1991, in a small town I saw a little shop front 'factory' of three farm ladies making cotton quilts by hand: Sacks of raw cotton on one side, rolls of cotton cloth on the other, and a big table in the middle where they spread out cotton, evened it out, made it nice and fluffy, then a sheet of cloth on top which they then quilted together. I think they could make one quilt every two hours between the three of them. China, of course, has moved on since those days.
