I'm excited to sit down with Phillip Meece. We talk about his experience serving in Afghanistan, the importance of meat and much more. Make sure to listen to the full interview to learn more.
Phillip Meece was a combat medic who served in Afghanistan and returned with gut dysbiosis after his health was derailed by preservative-laden junk food and antibiotics. Upon his return to civilization, Phillip set himself to the task of making something better - the ideal food for travel, performance, and survival. He thought of pemmican, a high fat all-meat Native American food. Carnivores need a way to take a high fat all meat product on the go, something that wasn't just jerky...so The Carnivore Bar was born! He launched a Kickstarter in 2019 and the rest is history. Thanks to the Carnivore Diet, his previous conditions of PTSD, dysbiosis, asthma, and anxiety are all in remission and he remains symptom free as long as he eats fatty red meat and nothing else. As a result, you won't find him anywhere without a Carnivore Bar!
We discuss the following:

2:35 All about Phillip Meece
3:16 The Carnivore Bar
8:40 USDA nutrient testing and the difficulties

"War is a racket." Unsurprising that the government and corporations prioritize special interests over soldiers' health

I'm a vet. I developed obesity after basic training. The food in the dining facility in the 90s was very carb and sugar heavy. I was taught the skim milk and eating more vegetables especially spinach eas good for me. I ended up with gall stones that went undiagnosed for 9 years ending g in 2004 with it being removed, and my 1st kidney stones was in 2001 and been getting them treated every 5 years. Last treatment was Nov 2022. Hoping g they don't come back now.

I believe the carnivore bar is a great product, but the price is a bit steep for me. $15 per bar plus postage? I cant imagine any government paying for a soldier to consume 3-4 of them in one sitting.

Agreed, combat troops would not be able to afford them.

I wanted to love these bars so bad, but right now the taste and texture arent for me. But i 1000000% support it, and as they grow, hopefully may improve on these things too. They're amazing for doing this!

The military had given me a unhealthy body image and has overall made me unhealthy. After having a baby they expect you to be completely normal after a year. Your whole body changes and the military believes you should be a specific weight that makes no sense. They want you to be healthy but then they recommend you eat nothing but starch and every special occasion has a cake.

I'm sorry to hear that. I've heard similar things. Bringing awareness is the first step. Hope you find healing.

I think the beauty of Phillip is that he is shedding a light on the problem!!! The Military nonsense!! But the fact that the FDA must follow the food pyramid is hurting all military. Then add to that the weight requirement, which sounds good, but it based on crazy stuff, while being put on a low fat, high plant diet = sick military. Also the military Dr. must follow FDA guidelines which means prescribing RX instead of diet. The military has been in toxic places before, but many times people returned to normal, when they came home to less toxic environments, with unprocessed food and chemical free water. Now they go to high toxic load places with higlhy processed food, returning home to more highly processed carb based food, in buildings that often have water damage (being built or modified by the lowest bidder) or toxic from chemicals and exposure. Add to that stuff in the water and homes that often have issues as well...a certian % will be very unwell and unable to keep fit enough to do their job or stay in the military and you are back to Dr.s who put Rx on the problems and push the food pyramid.

Vets get far more benefits than the normal us citizens even though lots of us have suffered far worse physical and mental traumas while paying far more in taxes. I. E. If I was a vet I would get disability but being a productive citizen now many years unemployable...I do not have same resources or hope.

Great podcast Judy! I failed the vcs and cluster symptoms. Would you say the next step would be the genie test? Is it the most accurate blood test for CIRS?

I thought I saw somewhere mention it was out of print and that she's working on a new edition. Probably wise to sell out of old editions before putting out a new one.

So sad we treat our soldiers so poorly. We have a giant military budget but can't provide them real food? I (sort of) understand the requirements behind MRE, but with technological advances we should be able to make a modern MRE for the military that doesn't make them sick and provides the nourishment they need for their high performing duties. Why this isn't a priority is disgusting and a disregard for human life.
