Hi rob, I am from Australia and when I reach my 90 days would you be interested in an interview with me? I would like to use my recovery to help others quit or continue to stop their gambling too I have gambled for 14 years now and lost over 400 thousand dollars, been homeless, and the works. So if a 14 year long gambler can stop I feel others can see the light even if at first it is hard It is okay if you don't want too and that is perfectly okay as you have had so many interviews that will certainly help others too. I am at 19 days currently. Fresh withdrawals and urges. At 3 months though I want to help others stop because no one should feel like this alone both gambling and in recovery. Specially when Australia is the highest gambling country per capita Thanks for the content though, those interviews are super valuable to remind ourselves about the loss while also gaining ourselves back

Thank you, Rob! I lost almost 5grand and that’s alot. I believe that I will have a great future if only I will stop this gambling addiction. I’ve always told myself that I gamble for fun but I end up chasing away my losses even if it’s just small and turns out to be worst. It’s true that casinos really tracks your way of gambling. You can’t turn things around. I’m glad that I have these as my daily reminder to stop. To us gamblers, I hope that from now on we stop on wasting our money. Let’s live a peaceful life.

Hey rob, the channel transition has been good. I think you should also talk to people who are currently in out and need to get out of gambling. I want to hear the perspective of someone actively in the problem.

Valuable but difficult for a few moral reasons. 1. It would make it look like I was exploiting their pain for views 2. They may not be in a good position to tell the world about a gambling problem 3. They may not understand the consequences of sharing publicly I’ve given it a lot of thought and I gotta make sure I put the safety of my interviewee at the top of my priorities

Absolutely fantastic interview, this guy is so clever and articulated my thoughts exactly. I'm from the UK and he's 100% spot on when he describes the business model of these bookmakers. Publicly they know they have to say they don't want or encourage problem gambling, behind closed doors and in their business model, they do in fact want as many as they can get. That's where most of their profits come from and in truth they don't give a shit about how they get it, as the man says, you're just a number to them. Great video Rob. Good luck.

He talks about how the industry is motivated to "reduce friction." Yes! Speaking myself as someone who had a casino gambling problem, it's obvious that there is no real concern on the part of the industry to reduce gambling harm. I lived in Pennsylvania where casinos are open all night. If harm reduction mattered, they would close at least for 6 hours in the night to give those on a loss-chasing bender a chance to cool down. Also, smoking was allowed in all state casinos when I lived there. This is obviously because they want to extract every last dollar from the customers, and that is more important than anything else.

Why doesn’t anyone talk about KZbin gambling slot channels and all the harm they do. You have a big enough audience to make an impact now. I feel my daily reports of “misinformation” and “harmful and dangerous acts” are falling on deaf ears :(
@@OdaatGamblingAwareness Most viewers already know that online gambling streams are staged or heavily manipulated, which makes their influence limited compared to real land-based casino streamers. My issue lies with so-called ‘real’ channels, which often lack transparency and fail to promote responsible gambling. These channels either skip responsible gambling messages or contradict them by showcasing reckless betting behavior. Worse, they fail to educate viewers on the actual cost of gambling, such as explaining how the total wagers multiplied by the house edge predict their long-term losses. By only highlighting wins (or net session results without breaking down the math), they misrepresent the reality of gambling. Some streamers are also reportedly getting significant rebates on their losses and even paid incentives just to stream, creating a dishonest portrayal of the experience for the average viewer. More accountability is needed to ensure these videos don’t mislead vulnerable gamblers.

This man matt zarb cousin was the man who took on the big gambling companies and made a big noise about the FOBT. I wouldn't be exaggerating in saying that he has saved 1000s of lives by forcing them to lower the bet to £2 from the suicidal £100 a spin which has caused a huge amount of betting shop closures.

Unfortunately they (bookies) did find a workaround though with the premium spins. They’ve got so much money and influence it’s a very difficult one to reduce harm. You can still easily put £500-1k through a FOBT in 20 mins. Matt has however done some great work in this space

If your gambling budget is $300, and you don't go, well you just won $300. Now do that over a couple of casino trips, suddenly, over a couple of weeks, you're over a handpay, which are super hard to get. Casinos are crazy.

This was helpful to put in perspective. I did a 6 month self exclusion from gambling in my province, and when it was over I waited up until midnight to log back in. I ended up gambling from 3 am to 11 pm both online and at the casino. I lost $2,500 in one day so I self excluded for 3 years, I now know I cannot control myself. This channel and these videos are helping me out a lot right now.

Rates of gambling harm are no different today in the UK then they were in 1999 before we moved to allowing adverting/promotion and well before the smart phone. To understand and be able to help those suffering from harm we need to move away from wasting time on the narrative that gambling should be ''Permitted but no promoted'. Not seen any data suggests this approach would change percentage of problem gamblers in society.

It's the same reason an alcoholic can't just stop drinking. It's that our brains develop a dependence on the dopamine we get from gambling and it physiologically tricks our body into believing that if we don't keep gambling, we will die. It's essentially the same reasons someone will have withdrawal from a substance except it's happening within the pathways of our brain rather than the rest of our body.

casinos legally tell you their pay back rate. you're the problem not the casino. the casino is simply providing you a way to do self harm to yourself. they're not forcing you to stay after your free play or deceive you by lying about their payback rate.
