I took several ceramic classes in college and I absolutely loved it! I would do it again in a heart beat if I had the means to afford a studio to work in!! Pottery is such an ancient art form and putting your hands in direct contact with clay just does something amazing to the soul. I have the same feeling with sculpture. It just pulls something beautiful out of me that I just can’t explain. Working with the wheel in particular can be mesmerizing and you don’t realize how many hours you’ve been there until your butt starts to get sore 😂

It's probably gold luster which is expensive, needs a third firing after the glaze, and is pretty toxic to the potter.
@syuan5889
@syuan5889 4 жыл бұрын
It's gold luster. It's a surface detail firing that's done AFTER the glaze firing. You can find it from clay retailers online and it costs about 30$ for a little vial (assuming you get a cheaper one). Most lusters usually range within 14K gold.

Yes, slip can be used as a glue like it was in the video but it is not glue. It's the clay with water added to make a thinner product. It's what's used for poured ceramics.

I love how they don't get into making handles because handles can be a pain and take so much time and effort to get right and stick on properly without being too big and drooping or being too small and unusable for some people to drink from without burning their fingers.
