Weight loss shows! Congrats. And great vid..........in my 70’s and still using my circa 1970 olive green Maytag set. Still using my first new bedroom set from 1971. You certainly display debt-free thinking. Yes, continue to use what you have if it’s still usable. Being debt-free provides such freedom. We have traveled much, even in foreign countries, but distance cycling is our favorite sport still. And you don’t need a travel agent to plan foreign trips.

If you want to update your furniture, you can actually paint your dresser, that will give it an update. It's really hard to find well made Furniture nowadays. I buy vintage furniture and refinish it. I find that solid wood furniture is very hard to come by now. A lot of things are made of particle board. My husband inherited some furniture from his mother's house. I painted it white and it looks fantastic. Chalk paint works really well on old furniture. I never replaced solid wood furniture with particle board crap....lol

I like your bedroom a lot ! I think it looks great! Nothing wrong with keeping furniture or TVs from 20 plus years ago. I find the furniture was made better then so it lasts longer and if u want to update u can always just change the draw pulls or something. I took close the blinds in the hear of the day in the summertime ( I am in Massachusetts) and open them at night to let the cool air in. In winter if it’s a good sunny day the blinds are open to catch all the free sun. When the sun starts to set we close the blinds and curtains to keep heat in. I belong to several groups on Facebook where we can post items we no longer want or need and ask for things we might want and get them gently used that’s one way I save money. It can be anything from household or kitchen appliances to Knick knacks to work equipment to clothes. I have gotten and given several items ‘this way. I too lost weight this year 50 pounds so I gave away most of my clothes. But I’ve gotten some really nice clothes for free this way. Or I shop end of season clearance. I am on disability and my daughter is disabled but they won’t give her anything so I support both of us on less then $24,000.00 thousand dollars a year . Which may sound like a lot but living in the northeast that doesn’t go very far so I have to make every dollar count. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep making them . U do a great job!❤️

THIS IS HOW I SAVE MONEY IN THE BEDROOM: I HAVE SEVERAL QUILTS I MADE YEARS AGO THAT I USE FOR A BED COVERING, CHANGING OUT THEM FOR A NEW LOOK. THEY LOOK LIKE NEW BECAUSE I TAKE CARE OF THEM. MY FURNITURE IS A CHEST OF DRAWERS THAT I PURCHASED 48 YEARS AGO USED, LOOKS GREAT AND I JUST PUT A FRESH COAT OF WHITE PAINT ON IT AND TOUCH IT UP NOW AND THEN. NIGHTSTANDS ARE WHITE WICKER PURCHASED USED, EACH PURCHASED AT DIFFERENT STORES AT DIFFERENT TIMES. I JUST WAS HAPPY TO FIND SOME THAT MATCH AND BOTH LOOK BRAND NEW. I DID PURCHASE A NICE RECLINER NEW WITH A REMOTE TO RECLINE AT THE PUSH OF A BUTTON BECAUSE I HAD SHOULDER SURGERY AND KNEW I WOULD BE IN A SLING FOR 6 WEEKS AND RECOVERY WOULD BE MONTHS AND WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO USE MY ARMS TO RECLINE MYSELF. WILL LAST FOREVER BECAUSE LIKE ALL THINGS I TAKE CARE OF IT. INSTEAD OF PURCHASING SEVERAL SETS OF SHEETS I BUY 2 SETS, ONE SOLID COLOR SET AND ONE PRINT COLOR SET WITH COLORS IN IT TO MATCH SOLID SET. I MIX AND MATCH SO INSTEAD OF HAVING ONLY 2 SETS OF SHEETS BY DOING THIS IT IS LIKE I HAVE 4 SETS FOR THE PRICE OF 2 SETS WHICH OF COURSE THE SHEET SETS WERE BOUGHT ON A REALLY GOOD SALE.I ALSO RUN MY CEILING FAN TO SAVE ON THE ELECTRIC BILL. PURCHASED RUGS ON SALE AND DYED THEM TO MATCH MY DECOR. LAMPS-YEP YOU GUESSED IT BOUGHT AT THRIFT STORE AND ARE ON MY NIGHTSTANDS AND HAVE HAD THEM FOR YEARS. I WILL SAY YOU CAN DO 25 SITUPS IN 1 MINUTE.

I have 3 dressers, one I purchased for $25 around 30 years ago. A second dresser was purchased at Good Will for $50 and the largest one was FREE ! ! I checked with a neighbor who told me it was bug free as she knew the folks who put it on the sidewalk. So I grabbed it and am still pleased 12 years later. I recently purchased a new quilt top and shams from Walmart. The last one also purchased from Walmart ( 18 years ago) has been set aside to be used to make pillows.

But I can say that it was all purchased on a budget. I need luxury in my lovely sanctuary :) Everyone needs to do what makes them feel good and happy :) I keep our a/c at 78, with fans going around our home .My "office" is in my bedroom. I do everything on my laptop in my cozy pink lounge chair, and all of my office supplies and important paper work are in a dresser.. tfs Have a good weekend ! 💗💗💗

@@sloanchessman5783 you are so right about that. My aunt got a New stove for a holiday and gave my mom her old one this was back in 1978. I think my aunt has had to replace her stove about 10 times since. The last one she got at antique store for appliances. She would always regret giving it away. Except for the fact she could see nothing ever happened to it because my mother care for it so very much. My first stove was an antique too. I had to give it up because where I moved had a built-in. They still look like new. And worked wonderfully.

We were in a flood in 2016 and lost everything. We had just purchased a new sofa a few months prior to the flood, and 3 years before had purchased a bedroom that I had searched for for 3 years. The flood put things into perspective.Things are just things. All of my furniture is now hand me downs or were purchased used and I am happy and blessed to have them. I have a lovely bedroom set of pure wood from a famous furniture maker that I got really cheap because the people wanted a newer style. It is beautiful cherry wood and I like it better than the one I lost in the flood that I had purchased new.God is good.I am actually using a double bed cotton spread turned sideways as my coverlet and it works because of the way my king size bed is made.Love your channel.Congrats on the weight loss. I'm guessing you can do 30 sit ups in a minute. I have a tall file cabinet like that and I made room in my closet to put it in the closet. Did you ever think about painting the bedroom furniture to spruce it up? I recently painted my two dressers that I've had since I was 16 years old. I bought them when I had my first job right out of high school. I still have an old 13 inch color TV that I have a DVD player hooked up to too. It has the clearest picture of any of my newer tvs. That's great that you have people to donate clothes to you during your weight transition!

If I need furniture I buy used. I paint a dresser or piece that’s very scratched. I have nightstands beside my bed now that don’t even match but they’re similar in style and I painted them white. I painted my thrift store headboard white to match. I also have a white dresser that someone gave us we just changed out the knobs. I found some mirrors at Goodwill and I painted them. Most of our decor items we have had FOREVER, but we did buy neutral colors that can just last and last nothing very trendy. I did have a large dresser that I used as a dining room piece for years… But when we moved we had to have another dresser in our bedroom because we were losing closet space. So even though it’s dark wood, I use it as my dresser and I just use white accents… Picture frames and such. I have decided to use this dresser as a way to really limit how many things I have. All of my jewelry, make up, casual clothes, undergarments, slips etc. are in this dresser. The only things that are hanging up are my very nice clothes like dresses and things I would wear to a funeral or a wedding. It’s taking up way less space in the closet and since our closet is small that’s worked out. I’m still weeding out clothes that I don’t really care for, and that don’t fit. Also making a huge effort not to buy any extra unless I’ve worn something out. I definitely agree that knowing exactly what you have and where it is makes a huge difference.

I don't replace items until they "give up the ghost". My bedroom furniture which is at least 30 years old is as good as new. A while after my husband passed, I divided up the suite. I have the queen bed in my room with one end table and the dresser. I put the second end table and the chest of drawers in the guest room. (One bedroom set serves two bedrooms.) I keep the thermostat at 78 in the summer and about 70 in the winter. I have room darkening curtains closed 24/7 in my room and I have a ceiling fan to stay comfortable.

Love to see how you implement you plans and ideas! *That is a beautiful bedspread you have! Mine was old an becoming threadbare so, after repairing it many times, I shopped for a new one. Found a new set of dust ruffle, comforter and pillow shams for $25 on sale. *My friends landlord changed out all the blinds in her apartment. Some were still good so my friend offered me the good ones. I needed 5 shades and she gave me 5 shades. *Drawer slides on all drawers only work till the last 2 inches, where drawer won't close anymore. I have to lift the drawers a bit to close them all the way. Worth buying new furniture, no. *Bedroom chair is too old to come clean anymore,I put a throw over it. *Found a blanket chest and extra chest (for linens) on clearance sale. Got them *Bought a Samsonite suitcase years ago at a discount warehouse for $5. I also didn't replace my first mattress/box springs for 20 years. Now I'm on my 2nd set and it's 8 years old. The upholstered stool I use to sit on when I get dressed I bought at an estate sale for $10. The other dresser in my room (which I needed when I moved to my current home four years ago) I bought on Amazon and put it together myself. I also never replaced the floor-to-ceiling curtains in my room when I moved in; I just kept the previous homeowner's. Oh, and the tv in my room was free; I won it in a contest!

Thank you for this great video. You know I love home tours. Your comforter is so pretty. I think the painting over the bed goes very well with the colors in the bedding. Of course, colors are difficult to determine in videos. You could always have it re-matted if that bothered you. I think you're going to have to go down a size in your top. You said you haven't lost any more but you look as though you've lost inches. The sit up challenge . . . I guess 19 in 60 seconds. Love to all, Linda 💕

Love this light blue shirt! Blue is everyone's favorite color. Frugal living includes delayed gratification and self restraint - with waiting to spend & saving for what you want. It takes a degree of maturity--or one matures in the process of waiting & saving. We keep our blinds closed to keep the rooms cooler. It was 113 in Phoenix today. I'll bet you can do at least a dozen sit ups...one every 5 seconds...and that's about a dozen more than I could do! Right now, I am searching for a little poodle. Please make a video on frugal pet owner tips. Vet bills are high and most people do not buy pet health insurance. I have owned many poodles, usually 2 at a time. My daughter and I cut them ourselves because a poodle cut cost an easy $50+. A sobering thought: we have a fenced yard but couldn't leave the dog out alone as we saw coyotes at the mailbox! How do you save money with your fur babies? Luv ya, Bunny

I was driving down a street near my home when a man was hauling an enormous, early 20th century steamer trunk to the curb on trash day. I slammed on my breaks and asked him if I could have it. He said yes because his wife forcing him to get rid of it. He said it belong to his Grandfather who brought it over from Europe at the turn of the last century. The last time I checked on line they were selling for approximately one thousand dollars. I love it. It's in my bedroom at the foot of my bed. So, I guess curb shopping is one way to save a lot of money in any room of your house.

I have a new flexible drying rack in my bedroom. I hang my towel there after showering so maybe I can use it again, if the cat doesn't jump it and turn it into a trampoline and knock the towel on the floor. I also hang any slightly moist clothes on the rack so they will be dry and not weigh so much when I take them to the laundromat to be washed. Wow, pushups, impressive. I would say 30.

Sometimes, just shopping your own home for pictures and such works wonders and costs nothing. Switch out the sconce, or maybe just the color of the pillar candle and put it with another grouping and find a picture(s) in another room in your home that you like better over your bed and change it out. I do think, (but you do you lol), that the greenery has seen its better days and just removing it would update the grouping in itself. ;) Also, I would probably just open up the frame of the picture and turn the matt around to the white side, close back up and rehang it. Otherwise your furniture is lovely! I actually have the stand up dresser that matches your dresser from my Mother in Law! I think the picture goes well, only the matting color is a bit off. I can honestly say that ALL of our furniture and furnishings in our home were free or really cheap on Marketplace, Craigslist or a thrift shop. I got my first matching bedroom set, ever, last year from Craigslist for $250 (4 pieces) and it is almost brand new. Same with our living room set a few years ago for $300 (4 pieces). We have do have flat screen TVs but they were free on Craigslist because they are under 50 inches and most people want bigger than that. Otherwise, we had CRT tvs too and still would if they weren't free. lol Some day I AM going to ask Santa for a new pot & pan set though. Mine are getting pretty bad and we cook almost all of our meals at home.

Then,it clearly does not warrant replacement, now, does it. If it were something broken beyond repair,or it would be smarter financially to replace, then obviously.but,if it works just fine, use it. All of my clothing is second hand.backpacks, purses, all second hand. When it goes out, it will be replaced but, not until then. Too, my Yukon is a 2005 & my husbands truck is a 2000. Neither one of us drive very much & only have a little over 100K miles on our vehicles so, we'll have them for a long time.

I've found minimalism saves us the most money of all the things I've tried through the years. We save by only owning one set of sheets/comforter for our bed. We live in Florida and have ceiling fans in all the bedrooms to help with cooling because they are less expensive to run than air conditioning. I try to remember to unplug things like my phone charger when they aren't being used. We also don't keep any books or media in our room. If I want to watch a movie I will bring my laptop into my room and watch Netflix or Amazon from there. If I want to read a book at night I will check the public library website and download something for free (they also have movies and tv shows for people who don't pay for Netflix). And one last thing I like to do is use online consignment stores. I've had good luck with a company called ThreadUp that lets me send used clothes through the mail.

I just bought an acrylic makeup holder. It is CLEAR. so I can see it. I have a combined bathroom/bedroom (don't get excited, an add on, not a luxurious suite!), but I have a desk across from the bathroom I never use. So I have a standing desktop mirror, my makeup in the acrylic holder with all makeup organized, a desk lamp for light, and it is on a HUGE wooden desk that I inherited from my grandfather who received it when he used to work on houses and the owner gave it to him. I can turn it back into a desk at any time, but it was just sitting there, so I turned it into a working vanity. The other vanity across the room that was tiny and never worked is made of glass and mirror, and has various cute glass dishes with different organized jewelry items and hair accessories. The room so definitely works for me. Yet believe it or not, it is not too girly for my husband to share with me! But in a long-winded way, I wanted to mention that my makeup holder was the best thing I purchased. Yes, it was under $20, but now I will never buy extra makeup that I don't need, and I can quickly find what works with my outfit. So that initial expense is saving me headaches and money.
