I serviced a 2001 1.0 litre from new, when the lady owner changed it in 2017 she offered it to me for £300 with 60,000 miles it is still immaculate, two or three tiny stone chips. Everything works averages 52mpg on E10 , was 60 ish on the old E5 , but can't complain. What's gone wrong ? Clutch release bearing dried up , genuine LUK clutch £43 easy fitting , brakes tyres wipers and a few bulbs. ULEZ compliant , insurance negligible , car tax a bit high . Always starts easy to park anywhere , rev it to 6500 and it really starts to move , vvti etc . Easy another 20 years. So much fun in a little package.

I don't just see my 2009 Yaris as something that just drives. I am constantly amazed by how easy to use and how well built it is. The shifter (6M) is not tight in any way but still glorious, the pedals are super nice, etc. When you see others with a 200.000km Renault where the doors are almost falling off, I consider myself lucky to have my little Yaris to bring me where I want to be.

Have one in my family since 2011 paid £7600 for it back then on 17k miles has done us really well and been very reliable up to last year when it became 13 years old and approached 100k mark where lots of parts needed replacing around the same time like exhaust system, wheel hubs, calipers, auxiliary belts, tyres and disc and pads and other parts costing up to £2000. We've found as it gets older it just needs a lot more maintenance compared to what we're use to and theres still a lot of original parts like yours the coils springs and other suspension components and quite a bit of rust underneath starting to come through quite a few advisories on. We're dreading the next thing that goes on it, which is making us tempted to sell it and replace for something a lot more modern and less maintenance to deal with again.

My 2008 1.5 Yaris S 3 door manual hatchback.... I drive it hard 6500 rpm every shift.... I do change the oil full synthetic every 3000 miles but at nearly 200,000 miles it runs like new... Fun, good on gas... cheep to insure... I love it and highly recommend if you can find one with good service records buy it.. If you can find a manual it's a pleasure to drive. I had to change my water pump and AC compressor... Worth every penny Ice cold AC hot Heat room to sleep room for surprisingly large things. I plan to keep it forever...

This car is economical on gas, matainance, parts replacement and reliability. 13 years no stress. I can afford another car but I don’t want any stress over maintenance and parts replacement. My break pads are $40 bucks alternator $200 and my hubby replace in 1 hr off KZbin. And it’s low profile so you don’t have to worry about no reason pull overs.

That's quite a bit tax. I pay same for 52 plate yaris and my older 99 yaris I just sold. They are great cars I have owned 52 plate for 8 years since 2014. I didn't bother getting newer as they are 100k heavier so presume I would need bigger engine which wouldn't be so eco friendly on fuel?

I have a Yaris 2004 I bought 5 years ago (1.3). Had 92,000 miles on it. Now done 123,000 and paid £800 for it. Just passed it's MOT. Great little motor until recently...not cars fault but local council. Hit a huge pot hole hidden on exit side of roundabout. Done in the front n/s shock and top mount. Buckled nearside wishbone. Steering rods and bent holding bolt into subframe. £800 later all good again. Shame, because I was ahead financially. Just bad luck....

I don't know how much it costs to drive my 2008 with almost 41K on it. There have been a few repairs. The front wheel bearing wore out prematurely early. I have the second battery and the third set of tires. The tires don't wear out, they "age" out. I don't drive much.
