How Cheese Is Made Around the World

Great Big Story

4 жыл бұрын

If there’s one food that everybody around the world loves, it’s cheese. Great Big Story’s resident cheese connoisseur and senior producer Beryl Shereshewsky introduces us to seven cheesemakers in seven countries, who show us their take on cheese. We sample all of it, of course-from Serbia’s donkey cheese to Wisconsin’s cheese curds to Sardinia’s casu marzu, full of maggots. Not to be outdone, Shereshewsky invites us into her New York City home where she makes the India’s paneer for the first time, using her mother-in-law’s recipe.

fair point but also if you're someone who loves the cheese you make, wouldn't you also call it the best? it's not like he's handing out awards or talking down on other cheese-makers. at the end of the day it comes down to personal taste and often sentimental value. we tend to love the foods we grew up eating.

Churpi which is made in Nepal is also found in the North Eastern part of India. In Nagaland it is known as "elephant's milk" amongst a certain tribe because of its hard texture. We get it from Nepal and Bhutan mostly. It has a smoky flavor.

Hey im british, I've been living in the island of sardinia from 8 years now. Casu marzu is actually illegal to sell publicly but its still kinda common in little towns especially in the province of nuoro. The maggots are completely harmless and most of the time they die before you even eat the cheese

eyeronic churpi is definitely that. Hard and you have to suck on them to make the outer part sofe and the process repeats. It takes ages to finish a small piece. Some churpi is usually dried on the roof.
