Photo Opportunity is such a goofy mission. CJ and Casar are supposed to be sneaky and photographing their enemies, and despite being right next to each other, all of their dialogue is shouted so loudly that LOCO nearby should have heard them.

@@TheSultan1470 actually, in cut throat business, cj and mad Dogg are supposed to canonically drive in a bf injection(though driving in another vehicle is optional) The engine of the bf injection exposes the occupants to its loud noise.. the only recorded version of the dialogue between cj and mad Dogg is as if they are using the bf injection to travel to og loc's location and their dialogue forces them to shout at each other

Big smokes crack palace is actually inspired by the Carter apartments that was turned into a crack palace itself by a drug crew in the movie New Jack City.. Rockstar used a lot of similarities from the movie for it...

I figured why Cesar and Cj was yelling on the rooftop was because in the original cut the helicopter was still on behind them when I was younger. I didn’t know how the entire scenario played out but I had a good feeling a chopper was involved. That was a long ride to go pick him up just to get into his car. It would’ve made a lot more since to have cj get the chopper.

I don't think there was a good solution here. If CJ didn't destroy Syndicate, Big Smoke would continue to supply the city with drugs thanks to Syndicate.. It was worth the risk to see what happens when Big Smoke does not have any supplies for a while.

Short answer: yes, he did the right thing. There is allways the kind of "if i won't, someone else will" mindset when it comes to drug-running. If the Loco Syndicate doesn't, Smoke would. If Smoke doesn't, someone else would. I think one of the main reasons for CJ being so hellbent on destroying the syndicate is personal. Ryder and Smoke used to be his friends, but the syndicate turned them against CJ and the Grove Street Families. The Ballas which are old time nemesis to the GSF was part of the syndicate. The GSF would probably not be able to take over the city if the Ballas would keep getting financial support from the Syndicate. Especially since drug-running is very profitable and The GFS refuse to do that themselves. The C.R.A.S.H. units involvement is not irrelevant either.

The mission was just too fast though, no cheats or with cheats, it may take him a long time to get homies, and also Big Smoke who's in Ballas Territory, they could've been under on an attack. Who knows, but, my main point is the mission was too fast that Ryder didn't even get to go back to Grove Street.

@@literallyabigfan House Party took place within the Grove itself and from the looks, everything returned to normal. Ryder would always have some schemes going on, but they'd be for the homies. Smoke on the other hand, would have you on cop errands and mafia mix-ups, so it wasn't clear what his narrative was on involving CJ on those missions. Take into consideration a lot of content didn't make it and or either got buried in the files as scrapped, so more than likely,, something had to had happen between House Party and Green Sabre that made Ryder turn his back on the Grove, plus Smoke. My guess with Ryder, was jealous over how CJ was doing a lot more work than him and outclassing him from driving to shooting and having more doors opened whilst Smoke, just got caught up in the Number 9 Large.

The one thing I never understood was the supply chain, obviously Mike had the supply of coke from Panama from his CIA contacts there. And when the syndicate collapsed how was smoke still getting supplied? Cause at the time of his death he was the biggest drug dealer in LS! Big smoke and LOCO had a deal that benefited each part, big smoke cuz he had to respect the deal with C.r.a.s.h and to become powerful in LS,the LOCO cuz they had their business expanded to LS and not only in SF. When cj destroys the LOCO big smoke builds the crack fortress and at that point he has enough Money to build a crack lab which is present in the building if you remember and thanks to the affiliation with vagos and ballas he has contacts to buy pure coke for himself.

Oh I believe he definitely has connections. In an earlier mission you go to pick up weed from his plug: Jose. You can tell he has connections in his dialogue, “coughio up el weedo” - where he demonstrates his outstanding ability of speaking fluent Spanish. Unfortunately as we all know Jose does not coughio up el weedo, and Smoke proceeds to blow his brains all over the patio. This clearly ties him to South American drug syndicates.

This being my favorite game exactly because of the story itself, it still hurts me that there are such mistakes they made. I know I'm being too harsh, but they could have pulled the Ryder story off a lot better than turning him into a villain. Dying in the intersection shootout in the Green Sabre mission is just one of the ways they could have done it. His villain role was ridiculous, even OG Loc was more interesting than him from that point on, appearing on the radio and everything.

By the time I got San Andreas, something in the game programing was changed. But the 2nd released version came with the Introduction movie disc. Whatever was changed, they made it so that any previous saved data from the older version of the game could not be used on the newer game.

Imho there are two things, which indicate that, once GSF's leadership collapsed (Big Smoke's and Ryder's betrayal, Sweet's imprisonment and CJ's exile from Los Santos), GSF (those who survived, to be precise) has ultimately went into the drug business (until the mission "Homecoming", where CJ and Sweet return to the Hood). One: Cash is transported in Patriot by GSF members, and Two: Cash transport always starts at Groove Street.

Fun fact: If you try to get to Smoke's Crack Palace at the start of the game, for example by spawning a tank with cheat codes, the area does not exist. Breaking down the wall only leads to an empty void, not the corridor that's there during and after End Of The Line.

I think had Ryder's va not quit, he probably would've either died much later on or would've been convinced to betray Smoke like Bear did to B-Dup There are a few things that disproves that Ryder was never going to betray Grove St: 1. His drug addiction, in the beginning of one of his missions, he is seen looking for drugs he hid in his backyard, then in a later mission he is seen trying to make his own 2. The intro scene between him and Smoke, unique voice lines not heard anywhere else in the game 3. CRASH's visit, the only 2 people CRASH is seen visiting are Smoke and Ryder 4. During OG Loc's final mission, Ryder leaves to go get backup, but never returns with it

Yeah, these are a few of many possibilities 🙂 Meanwhile we would like to give you our point of view of things you mentioned and break into pieces. 1. Since you referred to Ryder hiding drugs on his backyard, actually they are not crack cocaine. Ryder can be seen using this stuff a lot throughout Los Santos storyline and as you might hear in cutscenes, he is talking about "water". Water is the street name for a cigarette or a joint that has been dipped in embalming fluid that has been laced with PCP. In other words, these are "just" joints, nothing as high as crack cocaine that Big Smoke has contact with in opposite to Ryder. Thanks to that we wouldn't really point this out as a reason for Ryder being GSF traitor. 2. Whereas we don't know whether you mean intro cutscene from the game or The Introduction movie, we assume it's rather second option. It's worth underlining that The Introduction was being produced recently in terms of GTA San Andreas development. That being said, the voice actor didn't have problems to record what Rockstar North wanted, since he knew about that idea. Now, about the unique voice lines that are unused, we have access to some of them (let's hope it's at least 90% of what Ryder was supposed to say) and well.. we couldn't anything that would hint Ryder's betrayal really. 3. A small correction on that 🙂 Actually, CRASH was seeing each member of CJ's friends. CRASH paid a visit to Ryder during "Catalyst", to Big Smoke during "Running Dog" and "Wrong Side of The Tracks", but also Tenpenny was seeing Sweet during "Los Sepulcros" and it can be confirmed by this Sweet's statement -> "Peep this - Tenpenny just came by." 4. And finally the topic of Ryder being an irony of himself. During the plot we can hear many times that he is calling CJ a buster. But what is quite funny about it is the fact that Ryder on few ocassions shows that he is the real coward. Here we are giving few examples: the first one can be seen in "Home Invasion". There are few cases when Ryder will decide to leave us behind and escape - one of them is when we don't get enough gun crates in time and stay outside, Ryder will get into the van and drive off without us; another case happens during "Cleaning the Hood" and there are few lines of unused dialogue for Ryder when cops are chasing us. One of them says "Yeah, that's him over there, officers!" Ryder would be ready to sell us out like a rat; and the final one beside the situation from "House Party" you mentioned is mission called "Reuniting the Families", where also Ryder escaped from the shootout to save his ass. To sum up, we don't think that this behaviour indicates Ryder as betrayer. He is more of a coward than this. Last but not least, we would like to also add some points that will hold our opinion of Ryder not being a traitor. Take for example that he is always fighting Ballas in constrast to Big Smoke. Also, would ya like to work for Tenpenny if he treat you like shit as it was shown in "Catalyst"? Eventually, besides getting something for himself, Ryder helped GSF in actions such as getting weapons. We hope these motives might convince you to change your point of view 🙂 Cheers!

@@gaminginvestigators What I find weird about all this situation is creating this whole plot of Ryder being a traitor alongside Big Smoke, like, in the early missions of the game, we can see a lot of signs that Smoke is a traitor, either on dialogue during cutscenes, or on the missions themselves, Smoke always gets us in trouble with other gangs, with russian gangster and all that, whereas Ryder's are all about helping the Grove, getting guns for Grove and etc. If they had to get rid of the character due to problems with the voice actor, in my opinion, they should have killed him on the Green Sabre mission. He is killed during the shootout where Sweet is also wounded, it would have made Smoke's betrayal even more impactful.

Like, the loco syndicate is Toreno, a well-connected itelligence agency official with untold influence, T-Bone, the leader of a large gang operating in SF, Jizzy, a high-profile pimp who owns the biggest nightclub in SF, probably with also many connections in SF, and ... Ryder, a member of the dying Grove street families gang with its leader behind bars. And maybe he is used as some kind of messenger for smoke, to arrange the deals, but even then he doesn't seem like the most competent person to do that.

About the fact that big smoke was at Beverly's house to kill sweet if the ballas failed in the burial, it does not seem the most feasible to me. Big smoke doesn't want to kill sweet. I do think GTA San Andreas is still somewhat the best GTA game. For me it's a mash up of both 5 and San Andreas being the best for me although I didn't care for the 3 main characters in 5 meaning I didn't connect like I did with CJ. But I do love the 3 characters in their own way. If San Andreas had it's map remade in hd like 5 then hands down in my opinion it would have the best map. I still prefer the San Andreas map.

Dude, I get having headcanon, but in videos like this where you try to claim you are giving accurate information, you can't willingly remove details like "Ryder is part of the syndicate" because "oh well it was added in later" It doesn't matter, that is what happened, that is the story. You don't have to like the story decision, but that is what they decided to do, and you have to accept that.

We know that the majority of the community has Ryder being a member of the Loco Syndicate as canon, but we would like to present our point of view.
