I also highly recommend the live version of this they did as guests on The Sing Off! You are correct that they filmed this right after Daft Punk (at least that’s what I heard), so their eyes are still irritated. If you like Mitch’s “techno” voice, I suggest you react to some of his Messer solo project where he tends to lean into his love of EDM: Angels Pray, Love Supply, Machine, Oblivion, Halfway, Agony, Velvet are my favorites. I also love their early original Love Again (don’t remember if you’ve seen this one). 💜

I second this! It was so satisfying to see Mitch on that stage where he'd been so repressed by the producers into toning down his high voice and coming in with the beginning of this song so high and sweet - and then Avi getting the chance to sing too in it when he didn't really get to during the competition!

Your surprised reaction to Avi's solo at the end of the song was similar to the audience when PTX did an encore performance on The Sing-Off in the next season - Avi never sang a solo in any of the PTX performances for the show during their competition run, so many didn't even realize that he could do anything but the bass line!

The way they do the quick change edits reminds me of their "Can't Hold Us" cover. Such a fun reaction! Avi wasn't able to release per separation agreement until 2019. I think many forgot about him or don't like the genre. Ptx is mostly pop covers and Christmas music, and Avi is alternatve folk/ Americana originals. Also PTX has been building their fan base since 2011 and Avi started in 2019 with covid lockdowns early 2020. I would recommend Change on the Rise, which was Avi's first release in 2019. Cheers!

Your ears perked up when Avi mentioned A Cappella Academy. What he didn't say was that he, Ben Bram (PTX;s longtime producer/arranger) and Rob Dietz (composer/arranger) all founded the academy in 2014. It's an annual 10-day intensive vocal music camp for kids from 12 to 18 from around the world, where they learn vocals, performing, theory, arranging, and specialties like beatboxing and bass singing (which Avi usually teaches). To give you an idea of how amazing these kids are, here's the video of the showcase performance in 2019 of Avi's original song "The Seed". Charlotte, a while ago I had heard that one of the young men in the Academy Choir shown in this video had passed away suddenly shortly after this performance. Do you know if this is true? If so it is a terrible loss for everyone who cares about these special young people. I hope this was just an incorrect story someone was sadly spreading. One of their young and upcoming beat boxers died unexpectedly in his sleep from an undetected heart issue. He was only 13 and was amazing. (If you watch their videos he's the cute kid with red hair & freckles.) They performed on Kelly Clarkson's TV show & America's Got Talent. When they were on AGT they dedicated their performance to their lost partner. It was so very sweet. ❤

Thanks for your great reaction to this very early PTX video. I agree with others who have suggested that you check out their live guest appearance on The Sing Off after they won, where they sing this song. In all the 14 performances they did on the show, for some bizarre reason, Avi never sang a solo. Re your comments about Mitch’s eyes, Avi’s were also a bit red and a commenter said on another reaction that this was filmed soon after Daft Punk and it was caused by the contacts from the previous video

I'm not sure when but Mitch had cancer went through chemo and beat it. They got it early thankfully. EDIT - I was just told this is not true. But when googled it still says he did so I don't know.
