Your Needs are different than everyone else's. But, do you even know what your specific Needs are? Chances are that not even you can put your own Needs into words.
If you've taken the CliftonStrengths (also known as Gallup StrengthsFinder) Test, you probably know that your Top 5 results identify you as 1-in-33 million. Do you know that your combination of Needs is equally as unique? This is why you get impatient, frustrated, and rundown by different circumstances (and people) than anyone else.
Join me in understanding how to use your CliftonStrengths results to identify your Specific Needs.
NOTE: The StrengthsFinder Assessment has been re-named to CliftonStrengths by Gallup, Inc. Both terms are used in this video interchangeably and refer to the same assessment.

Let's get beyond the introductory CliftonStrengths / StrengthsFinder topics! Just going a little deeper, your Results expose your specific, individual Needs. You likely overlook your Needs, but tending to them will keep you running at your best for way longer! Think about it as personal maintenance, except that each personal tune-up / check-up is different. What are you realizing you Need? And, don't forget to download your Needs Resources sheet. Sayinging "I need" is more of a habit...and the importance of self awareness is such a great point...so important to advocate for them, creating space and boundaries has been crucial when writing my book.

Yeah, Tina. People misuse the word Need. Me included. So, it’s resulted in the word losing its meaning. But when we realize that unmet personal Needs are the cause of so much of our anguish, it gives us language to understand ourselves and create a clearer conversation with others. I was introduced to CliftonStrengths by a happy accident during a business meeting this last week. Since then I've tried to learn more about it, and I discovered your channel. I think I'll be taking the assessment soon myself, and then really start diving into your videos. Thanks for making this content available!

Hi Joanne, there’s no easy answer to your question. The test isn’t going to point you to a particular role, career, or job. For example, it’s not going to point to musician, baker, or scientist. Some folks want an answer like that. Instead, exploring your results helps you identify what fuels you, your needs, and your values. What activities light you up and make you want more? What criteria brings out the best in you (example in environments or in others)? And what conditions bring out the worst in you, deplete you, or are just not right for you? Ultimately, your results help describe HOW you approach what you do, but now what you do. It’s hard to capture in a concise comment/post. When I work with others, there’s a lot of discussion, reflecting, and exploration combining results, experiences, and interests to determine the right career steps for the person. The WHAT can be anything. The way you approach it is what will make it uniquely yours. Just be sure you have outlets and ways to express your Talents and Strengths, and make sure your Needs are met, and your Values satisfied.
