10:42 I wonder if the "openness" you're talking about is more power amp related. I have a Synergy rack rig, and going from the very good Syn5050 to the amazing Mesa 2:90 it opened up the sound of the modules considerably. There's a demo out there from Michael Toren comparing the Syn5050 to the Fryette LXII, and you can hear it in the direct comparison. If the Synergy head you have there has a similar power amp to the Syn5050, it might very well be a difference in the power amp.

I like the simplicity of the original SLO module. I think it sounds great, and while the sonic capabilities are limited, the SOUND it does produce is very good. It’s my go to module.

As someone who mainly writes and records music, and as a Synergy owner, there is no way I can justify spending that much more money on something that will be completely indistinguishable and insignificant in a full mix. I have the original SLO module and it sounds incredible. A tiny bit of boost and you have a tight, punchy rock and metal machine. I have the finances to buy a SLO head, but I would get such little actual benefit or additional pleasure from it, I'd feel like a dick for buying it when I already have the Synergy module. For me, the Synergy setup is a gamechanger because the quality of the sounds live up to my expectations for album-worthy tones. Only thing I would consider adding to my Synergy setup is maybe one or two lunchbox amps with killer tones that don't have Synergy module equivalents. The PRS MT15 is one of those. I love the sound of that amp.

The Amp has a nicer open and vocal sound to it. The module sounds more compressed. Module is still good. But the amp is it.

Nice one. We all know circuits aren't magic, but a synergy model necessarily needs to accomodate that circuit for its own poweramp. I'd imagine these high gain ones are easier for them to pull off since usually you keep the power amp entirely clean on these amps.

Cool, a real Soldano to compare to! What about some comparison with the Fryette and Bogner modules? I've got the SYN-50, it's good... But I don't really bother with comparing modules to the "real" amp as long as they sound like a great tube amp and bring me in the right ballpark. It makes sense for us Europeans who have free healthcare but less spendable income to invest in stacks of amps for playing in bedrooms. By the way, too bad Synergy already has two Mesa modules, I've heard Randall Smith has suddenly become available for some consultancy work...

A few weeks ago i bouht a new Synergy SLO "old" module. Does the SLO II sound better in general or is it now just more vesatile with the new Switches and doule EQs? Can someone answer my question?
@dangolguitartech3 ай бұрын
I have them both. The original was my go to module, but I’ve since put it away and using only the new one the new one is more versatile and has more gain… I am using a SYN.-1 into a synergy 5050 power amp pushing a pair of 4 x 12 cabinets. Sounds monstrous and I put it up against almost anything.
@EntertainerMartinWien3 ай бұрын
@@dangolguitartech hm, i think i can live with a little less gain and keep the SLO1. thx for your answer.
@dangolguitartech3 ай бұрын
@@EntertainerMartinWien oh, don’t get me wrong… That first one is still a monster, as well. The newer one just offers a little more versatility with separate EQ for each channel and the switches. I’m thinking I will be getting another SYN 1 and using the original as well in a stereo set up… Basically running an SLO pair with each one set a little differently.

The Syn-30/50 amps really benefit from JJ's in the power section. They let the sub low end and high sizzle presence through in the tone! The TAD's that come stock are smooth and rolled off very neutral sounding but the JJ's let it all through and open it up. If you have Presence at 2-3oclock normally, with JJ's you can just have it an noon. If you ever give it a chance it's worth the swap js!

Yeah. I could buy a pair of jeans from Target for $20 or I could buy a pair of designer jeans for hundreds even thousands. But I don’t buy my jeans at Target. Logically I’m an idiot. But consumer behavior isn’t rational. It’s about desire. The Soldano brand is sexy AF. Peavy isn’t. Never will be (to me).

Glenn's a cheap pinko who actually thinks people in Chynah factories are provided a better living wage than American workers get just becauee American guitars are too pricey for his cheap ass to mix the one sound/tone he knows how to mix.

Peavey no longer makes the Valveking, so that's not really an option at this point. However, let's assume you just want this module. The module goes for 400 bucks and the single module head is 500. You can get a EVH 5150 classic head for about the same price.
@JimijaymesProductions4 ай бұрын
Glen is pretty lucky with the valve king, most of them aren't that price even in combo version. The thing is a lot of high gain amps are based off the SLO 100. Original Dual Rectifier is just an slo 100 with a redesigned power section, the 5150 adds more gain stages etc etc. They all sound different because of small changes but when you eq them and gain stage them to be similar and put them through the exact same cab they become a lot more similar.
