Hi Janet! Loved the video! The hardest thing about Montana Winters is I'm not in them *yet! Gee, I was hoping to see more comments here. The lowest it got here where I live near Prescott, AZ was -26F in December of '1988, when all the California family was out here for Christmas, and I was 8 mos. pregnant! lol . I was just a wee bit stressed when the well pump froze, but, we got it heated back up and working after a few hours. I lived in Michigan for 2 beautiful winters, but never that low there. We took a visit to the twin cities in Minn., and it was -26F there too. The moral of my story: if I'm in Kalispell, it won't go lower than -26F. Ha ha!

Jackson hole gets even colder. It's the coldest place in the continental united states. I felt -50 there for 2 weeks straight one year. I didn't even like getting close to the windows because you could feel the cold coming off of them. And if you factor in the wind chill, and it's always windy in Jackson, it was more like -70/-80°f. I saw more people in casts and with lost fingers and toes and noses from frostbite there than anywhere I've ever been. Why anyone lives there is beyond my southern ability to comprehend.

Wow, I didn't realize that. Haha, yeah we had frost on the inside of our windows during the cold spell. Made me think of that Christmas song "frosted window panes" :)

Great videos! I've watched a couple and they've been really helpful! I have some questions if you don't mind, my family (Wife and I and our 4 young kids) is considering moving to Kalispell from Western Washington. 1) Are there any bad areas to avoid in Kalispell? We are looking to build a house on land on the south side of Hwy 2, west of Alt 93. Is that a decent area? 2) What's it like growing a food garden there or raising small animals (sheep for example)? We are looking to get a couple of acres and would like to grow as much as possible, but understand the snow/cold season is pretty long, at least longer than where we live now. 3) We are use to majority of the year consisting of grey days here in western washington, is Kalispell any better in terms of sunny days vs grey days? 4) How is the rest of the weather, do you get wind storms, rain storms, etc? I love storms. :) 5) We don't have a real estate agent and are looking for someone who specializing in land purchases with intent to build. Any suggestions (or do you have work with that type of real estate)? Any tips on good banks, builders, etc in Kalispell would be really appreciated. I've got some on my list, but appreciate recommendations too. 6) To answer your question from the video, just this past winter we had a low of 13f and got to do the 'toss boiling water into the air' thing, the kids loved it (and so did I!). We've been trying to find a place that has mountains, water, friendly neighbors/community, and good safe place to raise kids. Kalispell is top of our list right now. Thanks again!

I remember 40 below in Shelley Idaho when I was in jr.high. that was about 1982. My favorite Time of year is October, lol although I know winter is coming and I really do not like winter at all!,

Me too. I love October with the colored trees and crisp air. It's so refreshing. Plus, so many fun holidays in the months ahead. Haha, I love the first few months of Winter but it can definitely get old. Do you enjoy Winter activities outside?
