I do note that in the Archaon Warhammer fantasy novels Archaon ends up becoming incredibly mutated under his armour. His skin is covered in blue veins that form into the shape of magic runes and his entire skeleton turns to warpstone.

Regarding the nature of a chaos gifts, the best way I think it should work is that the blessing isn't anything specific, its essentially just a magical version of over exposure to radiation. The person receiving the blessing undergoes a magically charged rapid cell evolution. This process is likely rough on the body, and those who lose to it never stop that evolution. Slaanesh is giving their champion a dose of "Gift" but its tainted by Slaanesh, so the evolution might take a form better suited for a champion of Slaanesh. Imagine, you are a follower of excess, and you love that adrenaline rush of playing with the victims but you only have human hands. When you receive the gift, your body begins that rapid evolution. Doing exactly what evolution does, better adapts you to your environment. Enjoy your crab claw, you can use this thing to torment the pants off those people. Blessing be to Slaanesh. Another example might be like Nurgle, all his followers are bloated and swollen, why? Because Nurgles version of "Gift" is just life expansion. Those worms in your gut are your friends now, Nurgle champions being portrayed as bloated pants shitting thicc bois is bacteria related. How many times can we evolve your body to be able to sustain life without turning you into those giant puppies, otherwise known as a beast of Nurgle. Archaon is just a Chad personified and can handle all this Gift without dying by just focusing on being a mad lad and killing people.

First the canon reason why he is not so mutated is because the everchosen must be human not a demon or a monster for the fear he becomes to powerful, second is because his father Be’Lakor made him resistant to chaos on purpose to when he takes his body he doesn’t explode because of his power, and how he looks? He is a handsome man who is bald however he has the mark of chaos on his forehead

I love the idea of Archaon having to constantly balance out each of the gods' gifts. Imagine he's on a grand campaing of destruction throughout which he has been too reliant of Nurgle's powers. So fearing that the other gods might feel abandoned, he throws a big party in honour of Slaanesh just before a decisive battle against the forces of order. This screws over his allies who he was supposed to help but without him they end up being destroyed. This betrayal pleases Tzeentch because of Archaons deceitfulness to his allies. And it pleases Khorne due to the bloodshed it caused.

Same way that the Firekeeper from the Dark Souls series can take and store souls, it isn't just a strong will or the boons that help. It is an inherent ability to absorb energy, letting it writhe beneath your skin. There was a specific Firekeeper from Dark Souls (1), called the Brass Firekeeper. She was described as wearing her Brass armour because it helped hide her hideous form, where one could see the Souls writhing and swirling instead of skin. That's my thoughts anyways

Another part of it might be the fact he can't become a daemon prince, suppressing his mutations since he can't become pure magic. After Bela'kor's betrayal at hie own accession, taking the gifts with out paying the fees, the Chaos Gods decided to never make a daemon prince of chaos undivided ever again.

Archaon was also the fated doombringer. He was born to be the chaos messiah so I believe that plays a role in his resilience to the mutations.

One interesting addition is that mutations are a big way the Chaos gods control their followers. If you turn against them, you’re very likely to die as their blessings are revoked or turn against you. We see this in Wardens of the Everqueen where Torglug’s stomach maggot hurts him every time he’s about to go against Nurgle’s will. I imagine Archaon doesn’t accept those kind of blessings that would give Chaos any control over him.

I’d imagine there are few who share the negatives of their mutations for various reasons. Namely being seen as weak to other mortals or ungrateful to their blessings.

I figured that at some point between the end times and current AOS he became a daemon or minor chaos god and since the 4 major chaos gods cannot devote enough of their forces to take the mortal realm cause if they do the other gods would take the chance to wipe them out they just give him their power and authority to take over their armies since he has proven so effective in the past

It does sound interesting. With the blessing from one chaos god cancelling the negative effect of the blessings of another. Maybe the way blessings manifest depending on the mind of the recipient. Maybe Archaon's own mental strength is able to control how the blessings manifest so their negative mutations don't become dominant. It may also be the rate at which he receives the blessings. He doesn't get greedy so he is able to adjust or adapt to each new blessing. Either through strength or will or magical means to contain the negative effects of the mutation. He paces himself.
@amandag.61862 жыл бұрын
This is probably the best theory, there is a reason why Archaon is the Everchosen, it wasn't just his skill in battle and leadership, but also his strength and will to take what he needed to become more powerful, he went through the Realm of Chaos just to go to the other side of the world to get another one of the artifacts, he went toe to toe with a bloodthirster by himself. He battled his father-in-shadow, Be'lakor and died a couple times (at the time, Be'lakor prevented his true death, probably doesn't anymore) but still fought against him. He fought through the pain of the Crown of Domination piercing his skull
@j.bat.82352 жыл бұрын
Ok so, random disclaimer: wildly personal interpretations here but then again, let's give it a try. First things first: Archaon is "the everchosen", which is not just *any* title. During WH Fantasy you basically had to earn that monicker by gathering a bunch of artifacts (which were not aligned with any specific chaos god, if I recall correctly) and being """crowned""" by Bela'kor, which marked you out as possibly the *only* guy/gal/whatever which could theoretically command chaos as a whole (meaning you don't just have a khornate, slaaneshi, tzeenchian and nuglite commander each ordering around a particular horde, you basically work *as* those four character in your own right). Now, each "everchosen" before Archaon basically died and, in broad strokes, "failed"; only Archaon managed to accomplish his mandate by destroying the Old World (now "World-that-was", quite fittingly). Archaon is, technically, *still* the everchosen (which is likely why Bela'kor made a fuss of cracking realmgates during Broken Realms: he wished to see Archaon diminuished while growing its own power base in order to snatch the title). Second point would be the how chaos boons/mutations can be made to work: I think it all boils down to "willpower" and how much you trust in your ultimate destiny, basically. The idea is that boons and mutations are made to both reward you and test you; they can't just be wholly "safe" because you may """risk""" being satisfied and stop working, so the chaos gods hook you up (so to speak) with something that looks *very* good on paper but then they start mixing in something else. Let's say they give you superior strength, which is almost universally "good" for a chaos warrior, but they don't give you superior control on your strength so you basically risk breaking things/people even while you are not in combat. Now, "normal" people would be discouraged by something like this and their resolve would be chipped away somewhat: you have to come to terms with the fact that there's a wrench in your """perfect""" path to glory. Now, finally (?), my theory: Archaon is basically capable to "rationalize" the negatives and have them fit into a greater scheme: he believes in his own manifest destiny so wholeheartedly and with so much convintion that he can basically take *anything* in his stride, every wrench and every side effect and just tank it into submission because there's always a greater purpouse right around the corner and an angle he can work at to turn the negative into a positive. This whole thing may also be how you "win" (and win *big* ) in your path to glory: most people only wish to please one chaos god, so they align their goals to its own and that's it: Khorne? Go around making war, not love; Slaanesh? Wander around making love, not war; Tzeentch? Scheme the absolute hell out of everything, Illuminati-style; Nurgle? Just revel in entropy and chem-warfare, while being wholesome and body-positive (?). Archaon has basically "cracked" the code and hacked the Matrix: he has enough ambition to basically never stop "wishing" for more power and more chances, which may also explain why the chaos gods keep investing in him: he's *literally* the perfect customer while also being the perfect "seller"; he's hooked while being the one who hooked them all (and managing to keep them hooked).

I always assumed that he was rejecting most gifts, and instead relying on the various magical artifacts he had obtained. I also like the idea of him using his gifts to nullify one another in the event that one might mutate him. My understanding is that Abaddon is basically 40k Archaon, so there's probably 600 40k books that explain how the process of balancing chaos gifts works.

He hates skaven since during the final fight in fantasy the Verminking killed his opponent during the duel by stabbing him in the back. In his rage he swore to basically throttle any rats he could get his hands on since the person he was fighting was pretty significant to him emotionally. That and I'm sure the fact that the horned rat taking Slaaneshs place is to add to that disdain of the rat.
