When he became GM I really did not like the idea, but with luck and moves he has made and is sticking with the rebuild and being patient with the process. I trust him completely. If someone else thinks that he isn’t capable of the job that’s fine but I want a team who can compete for a very long time and keep us out of cap trouble. Rebuild is a pain in the ass to watch on the ice but this has to be done correctly. We can’t just get players that are elite from free Agency or trades. It has to go through the draft and are pool of prospects are more better than the dynasty era. KD knows what he is doing. 3 to 4 years we could see this team compete for the playoffs for a long period of time and maybe a cup. Trust the process, we will be a dangerous team in our conference one day.

Same here. He was near the bottom of the list as far as who I wanted them to hire. Glad he is proving me wrong. Looking back, I can't complain much about anything he's done, whether drafting, trading, or picking up free agents. There were things I didn't like at the time, such as the DeBrincat trade, but now I see why he did what he did. He has done a great job of acquiring "change of scenery" cap dump guys who have done well with their change of scenery, like Dickinson and Mrazek. Hoping Mikheyev turns out to be another of those. I'll give him a Mulligan on the whole depth thing last season. The number of injuries they had were unprecedented, especially given that the IceHogs were going through it, as well.. It's hard to plan for something like that. But, he's shown that he's capable of learning from his mistakes--and from Stan Bowman's mistakes, for that matter. That, alone, garners a lot of my trust in him.

@@Yo_Adrienne yeah he made trades and picks that some fans don’t like but we have to stick it though. We are most likely missing the playoffs but all we are looking for is improvement from the young players that were here last season and for the players that didn’t want to put the work in last year well if they don’t play hard someone else will take there spot. This is a rebuild but I will not accept poor effort on the ice. We need to have a winning culture and it’s not going to happen if players don’t want to be here. They all have to buy in to this rebuild from players and management. This is why I trust KD because he can make a change quickly if someone doesn’t get the standard of what it means to be a Blackhawk. We need a winning culture.

Davidson and Poles are both outstanding. They replaced several idiots in Pace & Bowman. We're blessed to have Poles and Davidson. Love Davidson's trades and draft picks. Same with Poles.

My problem with Davidson absolutely has to do with Kane and Toews, that’s where it starts at least. They absolutely WERE done wrong, no matter how rosy these guys want to paint it, they said as much themselves. They said they “didn’t feel the love” on the way out. KD publicly said Toews wouldn’t be offered a contract. Regardless if his health at the time, he deserved better than that. The door should’ve always been open publicly, even if it wasn’t privately. Kane was told “they didn’t see a role for him moving forward.” So yes, Kane asked to be traded to NY, but that’s bc he was having hip surgery in the offseason and didn’t know what he would look like on the other end. He wanted one more shot before he was maybe forced to retire bc like Toews, Kyle was not gonna offer him a contract. But make no mistake, Kane would’ve absolutely stayed and gone down with the ship had he been offered a deal, he said so himself… Toews wasn’t gonna go somewhere else and play a year or 2 and he was no longer welcome on the Hawks. While his health was not great, his retirement was not on his terms and him refusing to go to CCs jersey retirement and Kaner’s return says a lot… Kane is a little different bc he’s still a very productive player. The initial trade was tough but it’s the refusal to bring him back despite it making a ton of sense, the fans wanting it and Kane himself openly wanting a return. These guys mean way too much to this organization and I feel like this new regime has treated them disrespectfully. I’m so sick of the “but look! Connor bedard!” Mentality. Yes, he’s gonna be great…but he’d be a lot better if those 2 guys were around. I disagree with some other stuff Kyle has done, Lebshunov over Demidov for sure…but nothing on a fundamental level like the Kane and Toews situation. Until he makes that right, idk how he could atp, I’ll always look at him sideways. It was maybe a good time to move one when they did initially, but things have changed and they could’ve been brought back into the fold…Kyle refuses and I think it’s ego driven. It sucks

This isn’t about if Toews or Kane being treated we needed to move forward. We all know they’re getting jerseys retired and Statues. KD knows what they meant to the city of Chicago but we have to move into the next generation. Would like them back but we have to move forward and focus on the future. I was thinking that too when he was GM but with the luck of drafting Bedard and making our AHL full of prospects. We are set for a longer successful future that can avoid the salary cap. With the Levshunov and Demidov debate people can choose between who’s better but I trust KD with the draft choice. We can’t go back to the Kane and Toews era. Even if people think they were treated badly. We have to trust the process. It sucks but it has to be done.

@@user-wd4zc3py4wI’m not suggesting going back to the Kane and Toews era…but now that we’ve got Bedard and bunch of prospects developing, bring a guy like Kane back. We can move on to the next era while Kane mentors them and puts his stamp on the next generation. It’s not a salary cap thing, it made perfect sense, we were looking for basically everything Kane offers as a veteran FA. He wanted to come back, the fans wanted him back…Kyle just took a stance and his ego won’t allow him to go back on it- no matter how much sense it makes

@@domcagney2352 Toews legit isnt even still playing lol, hes still recovering from his illness so it doesnt even matter, and Kane legit did not want to stay. He did not want to be apart of a rebuild he said so himself basically. He wanted to go to NY, and went. He had an opportunity to come back this season and chose Detroit because he wants to win not be apart of a rebuild.

@@MrCubs0717 you’re absolutely correct. I would love to have them back but this team is in a rebuild. I understand some fans may think that Kane would be a good mentor for bedard, but KD signed players to be mentoring the young players. Kane is on a team has to make the playoffs this year so he’s going to play on a team that is competitive and Toews is happy taking a break from Hockey. They’re already going to get there jerseys retired and statues. They have done everything that we wanted.

They don’t hate Kane and Toews. They keep saying people to stop bringing up them returning is because it’s not a smart thing to do for the organization. Toews is happy with his break and Kane is happy to be on a team that can win more games than losing. I don’t like how they ignore the chat about them but some fans really think that players should return and everything is going to be okay but realistically this is Bedards team. He’s the future captain and face of the franchise. We have to move out of the past and focus on now and the future of this team. You can hate KD all you want but he’s sticking with the rebuild and I’m agreeing with him 100%.

⁠@@user-wd4zc3py4wthey don’t hate Toews, they 100% do not like Patrick Kane. They’re very progressive and hold a lot of Kane’s past behavior from 15 years ago against him… It WILL BE Bedard’s team. He’s 19 and that athletic poll Jay and Mario were referencing showed that a lot of fans agree that he’s nowhere near ready to be a captain. I would prefer Patrick Kane was here leading the team, rather than relying on the vets they brought in to provide championship experience…and when he retires in a year or 2, Bedard will be 20-21 and READY to be a captain. It’s not all just forced on him bc he’s the best player. I think it would’ve done Bedard good to play behind a legend…but like you said, it didn’t happen and we have to accept it. But every time it comes up I get pissed off all over again

We all know there idiots during the offseason because it’s pointless topics every week until the season starts. I get that they push fans away from talking about Kane but nobody is going to care if you watch this or not. I Don’t want Kane or Toews back until this team is contenders. There already Hall of farmers and Bedard will be the next captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. He’s already been the best player on the team but also very mature for his age and we seen that with Toews being captain at an early age. I don’t want a veteran to wear the C because they’re not going to be here for the future. Also Bedard has veterans he can talk to instead of Kane. That’s literally why KD made the free agent move with Nick and Martinez, maroon to be here not just to play but there here to be leaders for the young players. You can say what’s you want about this team and direction all you want but this is Going to happen so we can have long success future.
