Any insight on why newer fridges don’t seem to last as long as older fridges?

Why dont they also test actually food? Are groceries THAT expensive? Do they test to see if refrigerator leak refrigerant over long periods time? as a consumer of fridges I'm worried abt health risks 20 years from now not just 48 hours
