My police trainer had 35 years in the RCMP. He kept bright red or orange bean bags in the passenger seat. About fist size. Anytime he said he seen something fly out if their window he would toss a red bad out his window. Was a good tip and he said it's eaiser to find at night

Diversion offences can be a concern for security too, sometimes in a more active way. When I did concert security we'd sometimes have guys start fights in order to attempt to get a guard watching the backstage door or emergency exit to get distracted so an accomplice could slip backstage or open an exit to slip someone/something in. Was a not uncommon tactic in order to get drugs into the venue for dealing. We heavily emphasized to door guards to never leave their position and call in any issues like that, even if it was happening right in front of them.

Bought a car from a police impound auction about 15 years ago. Ended up taking out the carpet to clean it and under the seat areas I found two guns and $6500 in cash. I called the department I purchased it from and they took the guns because they had no serial numbers but they said the cash was mine to keep. They slipped on that search.
