You see I don't put photos on my wall. That's because when people break into my house they won't know what I look like. After they steal my motorcycle, computers, TVs, guns, waffle maker, and collection of basketweave beltness they won't see me coming with a quater inch piece of rebar and needle nose pliers seeking retribution.

Very informative video as usual. If your PD has the resources then at least one dog + a chopper with FLIR are also great force multipliers for building searches.

When I was a rookie we were called to a house alarm call, door was open. This house was HUGE! Indoor and outdoor pools, 2 kitchens, I forgot how many bedrooms, 3 independent staircases, private theatre room with leather lazyboys, 8 car garage. We only had 4 officers on duty and 3 of us were clearing the house. It wasn’t enough. A bad guy could have been circling around us for the whole time

Great stuff! I've done the mirror "blindness" a couple times running medicals and fire alarms, takes you out of the game for a few seconds. Not so bad on the fire service side but for LEO's could be the difference between life and death.

Work armed in a high end HOA near Beverly hills for going on 6 months. Not a long time at all, but if I had a dollar for ever time I heard a client tell me that there were a ton of burglaries before I came to the post....I could buy a sentry gun every home and quit my job. Surprisingly the seemingly hundreds of alarms I respond to are all false alarms. "That house down the street got robbed last month I heard, apparently they cuffed and gagged the resident." Really Steve? Every nanny who used the wrong gate code is not a robber.

Good video as always brother! I hope everyone is having a safe weekend. Well, some LEO trivia for you all. DID JA KNOW....Burglary calls represented 9% of the fatal calls for services that were analyzed during (2010 - 2014). A research team examined eight cases that involved a response to a reported burglary. These cases were for the most part forced entry cases or witnesses reporting a suspect entering a building. Five of the responding officers were alone when they were assaulted and killed. Lessons learned: 1. Officers responding to a burglary/alarm calls should not be dispatched alone and should wait for backup. 2. Officers must avoid the false alarm monotony that leads to complacency when assigned burglar alarms and burglary reports. 3. None of the cases analyzed reported deploying K-9 or K-9 teams to search for suspects (K-9 teams are the best way to search for a secreted suspect and to clear a location or track a suspect.) Of course, not all agencies have K-9s, however most have the ability to access them through a mutual aid, Memorandum of understanding and shared jurisdiction authority with adjoining agencies. **NOTE: The above information was pulled from an analysis of U.S law enforcement line of duty deaths when officers respond to dispatched calls for service and conducted enforcement (2010 - 2014) The report can be downloaded from the following link if desired. Holds more information on this type of call an many others that I feel officers should review. www.hsdl.org/?abstract&did=794863 **NOTE: "In 2015, the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) entered into a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice COPS office to study officer line-of duty deaths. This report is a five-year study analyzing line-of-duty deaths in which a total of 684 cases were reviewed. Specifically, the analysis focused on cases that involved a dispatched call for service which required a police response and what information was made available to responding officers in the deadliest calls for service. "

When I listen to the scanner, I often hear police number the outside walls of the building. Like, “You cover walls 3 and 4.” How do they number the walls? Is it front is 1 and it rotates around the house clockwise and ends on like 4 being the left side of the house? Or maybe like according to North, South, East, and West?

Do you have one on clearing a home for homeowners? I see the practical value of applying the above lesson to working my way from the Master Bedroom to my toddler’s bedroom, in the case where we suspect a break in while at home, say in the middle of the night. Any further advice?

How about you put your flashlight to see why don’t they use Night vision because if the person can’t see you then you can’t see him do you think doing a search with night vision batter then a flashlight.

But...isn't it natural that the bad guys are going to shoot toward the light which is in front of your neck? I was taught to hold the light away from your body a bit. Does that no longer apply? Charles Manson hid in kitchen cabinets. Also when I was on a ride a long, this guy was hiding in a dryer. When I used to BE MADE to clear abandoned houses, (I'm Michelle the Security Guard), I always put my gun down by my thigh and made my way through the house. I do ATM technician escorts now. *sigh*

From my experiences of going to public ranges and searching buildings I have made three observations on this issue. 1) with the state of marksmanship most people exhibit a 2' or even 3' difference in point of aim is unlikely to have a significant effect on where bullets go under stress at any distance, even point blank. 2) holding a light way out from yourself while shooting one handed is awkward an ineffective. 3) holding the light far out from the body in the weak side hand either puts it far to the left, right, or above you. The first two make it difficult to negotiate doors on the opposite side and the last puts the light at a height that isn't fooling anyone and for tall people knocks into door frames. I suggest just holding the light normally. It is more effective for searching, makes shooting easier, and the tactical disadvantages of a light are far outweighed by the advantages. As far as I can tell that method and that fear were invented by people who advocated against putting lights on guns 20 or so years ago.

I mean it all depends for example back in 2017 when me and two buddies went out to one of hit my buddy's hunting cabin we found the door unlocked and we knew nobody had been out there to unlock it here's where it gets different from what most people deal with we understood the majority of what he's talking about in this video one of the three of us was in the Marines and the other two I've been trying to fight shoot and think in ways for situations like such we went got a few pistols from our trucks and started clearing the house cuz it was going to be hours before a cop could show up and we found a guy who had been living there for almost a month And know this was a hunting cabin there were guns there they were in locked safes but we weren't sure so we were very careful to the point it took us 20 minutes going through very slowly and carefully to find the guy passed out on the couch then we spent another hour clearing the rest of the cabin and then we waited about 2 more hours and Cops finally arrived to pick the guy up That situation was very dangerous for number of reasons if even one of us had slightly less training we probably would have waited for the cops because we weren't a hundred percent sure if anyone was there but we did know that there were technically guns inside but we all had equivalent to if not in the case of my Marine friend better training for Clearing Houses comparing to the majority of cops
