Completely agree with Ben! It’s all about timing! My fiancé and I have known each other for years. He’s my cousins best friend so we hung out a bunch in high school and what not. I always thought he was super attractive and very smart and funny but something didn’t click. He started dating someone and I started dating someone and we lost touch. Fast forward 5 years of casual “happy birthdays” on Facebook. He became an architect and got a job with the company that my parents hired to remodel their house. It was merely a coincidence that my parents hired that specific company and that his boss sent him to my parents house on a day that I just happen to be there. And now it’s been 4 years since we’ve been together and honestly we laugh about how much we wanted to be with each other when we were growing up but it just never happened. We joke about what would have happened if we had gotten together that early but we both had a lot of growing up to do and I really don’t think we would be together now if we had gotten together back then.

Me and my boyfriend met in the last year of high school... i thought he was cute, volunteer on red cross, sea rescuer (quite the curriculum!). I wasn't looking for a relationship, to focus on entering nursing school... Apparently he was really into me, was asking to all my friends how to talk to me, and what i liked... I like that you don't really remember the exact date....because me and my spouse don't remember when we exactly got together. We also don't remember the exact date he proposed, but he did that out of some weird thought of "this is what I'm supposed to do" that was roughly 10 years ago. I personally don't want to get married and he doesn't want to if I wont change my name, which I wouldn't do. Been together roughly 12 years and we only know that because we know it was about 2 years in when I got pregnant and that's when he felt he needed to propose. But no "anniversary" and i think it is great. No pressure to "celebrate" or measure our affection to each other.
