Just like you say, If I were to wait for a riding partner to go riding with, I'd never go riding. I don't have one, but I've been thinking that a Garmin InReach would be a good thing to have along. I bring a basic GPS, a trail tool kit and of course always carry lots of water. Bike maintenance goes without saying, but I'm always amazed by how many people ignore it. I put a large capacity fuel tank on pretty much every trail bike I ride. Even with that I've ran out of gas a few times before making it all the way back to the truck.

I will be installing a bigger tank this weekend. I’m looking forward to a little more range!

I enjoy my solo rides immensely. You're the hero of your own life in a time when we are making constant comparisons in social media. When it's just you, there are no comparisons.

Yup it’s good to get out there by yourself sometimes.

Great info in this video. As a solo rider 95% of the time, I have found my anxiety to be my biggest hurdle. Alot of times being in remote areas here in CO alone triggers strong anxiety/panic at moments. The negative thoughts tend to momentarily race and it can really throw me off. Im working through it each time I find myself in these situations. Id have to imagine others can feel similar in certain lonely situations. As you covered, being prepared for all but the worst of scenarios is huge in all regards.

Being prepared sure helps. But you still need to be smart about the trail and obstacles you are riding. Little bit of anxiety keeps you on your toes!

I share my plans with family and friends when I go alone. My cell phone and bike can be gps tracked separately with an optimus tracker installed on the bike. And finally i have an ACR PLB-400 for a last resort. one push of a button and someone will find me. I might not like the bill but they will get me. I use the same stuff out on the ocean plus 2 marine radios with gps built in. Keep it as safe as you can.

GPS is probably the most important piece of equipment you can take.

About 50% of my riding is by myself. It’s either that or sit at home.

Too bad we don’t have a big platform to say we’re gonna be riding here this day and anybody can join.

Yup Facebook groups work really good to organize rides!

That is part of a street lighting kit from True North Moto.
