An excellent vehicle! Zeekr deserves all the kudos that they can get for making this vehicle. Unique design, ultra-fast charging, *great* interior, and super solid turning radius. Can’t wait to be able to buy a Zeekr in the US. I know it will happen. It will just take some time.
@mr2cqql3 ай бұрын
No , It will not period. Because most of the major Chinese brands don't want to do or deal business with USA.
@waynelewis91103 ай бұрын
@@mr2cqql It’s a lie to say that Chinese car companies “don’t want to do or deal business with USA.” They absolutely want to. There’s a big car market here, and Zeekr has visited the US several times with their cars, most recently for their NYSE listing where they had their whole lineup in New York City for everyone to see. Chinese car companies like Zeekr will enter the US market, eventually. There was tons of resistance against Japanese automakers entering the US market in the 70s, but that did not stop the inevitable. The fittest Chinese car companies like BYD and Geely (including Zeekr) are coming. The political shenanigans are just speed bumps. Also, now isn’t necessarily the time for them to enter the US anyway. The car market in China has *way* too many players on the field, and there needs to be a lot of consolidation. That goes for both unprofitable Chinese startups like NIO, and struggling legacy automakers like Nissan. Once the dust settles, I see things moving a lot faster in terms of entering the US market

@@jahangirfds It *will* happen. The fittest Chinese EV makers will enter the US market. It is an inevitability. Politicians come and go. Things change. Also, there will be open space considering the eventual bankruptcy of some legacy automakers like Nissan, Stellantis (at least some of their brands like Chrysler), and possibly even Honda.

@@waynelewis9110 It wasn't the Chinese EV makers who doesn't want to go into the US market but the white house constantly putting sanctions and heavy tariffs on those vehicles which makes them unable to compete to local brands in pricing that stops us from the US; While the trade war still seems to have a long way to go as how the world is today, and the white house won't give up these measures until the very last moment of this zero-sum "game" that US thinks it's in w/ CN while CN on the other hand doesn't like to see.

Ideally those pillars would be narrower, the loading lip for the boot would be about 20cm lower and the rear seat should fold fully flat. Plus about 400kg less kerb weight. Looks good though.

If they had an alternate configuration to use that space, a flexible 7 seater (for heavens sake, it its that wide you could even try get 3 rows of 3, 9 seater!) that you could fold 2 passenger rows to turn it into a _van_ , or drop last row and have massive boot for ikea/bike trips, that would be killer practical. I wonder if they will make a right hand drive version? The UK has made the decision NOT to impose any tariffs on Chinese made EVs and has become a very tough place for EU and US car makers, with heavy price discounting. For example, the MG4 is available at 20% or more discount. A big market, where the Chinese makers have relatively free access, and excellent import facilities for sea shipped cars (because we previously imported so many cars from Japan, Europe and Korea). SUV's are very popular in the UK. Priced and specified correctly, it would sell very well. VERY well. Most importers have made the mistake of pricing too high, and then discounting. That might appeal to the business fleet and lease market, but the market for this car is the private buyer, and they prefer honest prices where no haggling and wheeler dealing is needed. Kia did this when they came to the UK, and it served them very well. A lesson the Chinese makers need to learn.

Not my market segment, but the very minimal exterior design aesthetic without too much ornament looks nice. Unfortunately, the curb weight of EVs appears to be getting out of hand. Even with zero tariffs, there is also zero chance this car would cost 33k € in the EU, like literally every other Chinese-brand car available in the European market not having a one-for-one converted price tag.
@jwickerszh3 ай бұрын
You'd never have a 1 to 1 price conversion, the base tarrif was 10% already, there're also added taxes IIRC. This would cost closer or above to the current Zeekr X top trim which is 50k euros, so around 55k maybe.

@@jwickerszh I. Know. You also have to factor in the differences in economic indicators like median income, disposable household income, GDP per capita etc. between the different markets/economies. Yet for some reason, prices are always stated as one-for-one conversions from Renminbi.

@@gummibando in Europe you have countries with much lower everything (income, GDP,etc) like Portugal vs Luxembourg and yet prices for cars are virtually the same... probably in Portugal are even higher due to specific taxes (on ice vehicles) and 23% vat... don't see auto manufacturers having lower prices, by the contrary

UK doesn’t have tariffs, yet all the Chinese EV’s launched here are double their Chinese prices. Not sure whats going on. Do the Chinese gov remove their subsidies for exports? I read the Chinese manufacturers have wafer thin margins on their Chinese sales and they want fatter ones for their export sales, otherwise they won’t survive. Overheads are definitely higher in the UK (transportation, storage, dealer salaries etc.). I haven’t seen a single compelling Chinese EV launched in the UK so far. Once you factor in their price, the ones that are decent quality fly very close in price to Tesla which has a supercharger network. European incumbents are also improving leaps and bounds. Renaults new EV’s for example are starting to get very good indeed, and I’d prefer one over cheaper Chinese cars like the Omoda 5, which gets terrible reviews.

It was quite a disappointment to see a van-shaped EV that was supposed to do space magic but achieved neither three rows nor a trunk to fit the entire family's bikes and stuffs (they didn't even show us the trunk! That tells how unimpressive it is). This car is undoubtedly designed specificly for premium taxi services. The ultimate Alphard-killer. The in-law hauler, maybe
@davidfarrell10623 ай бұрын
100% the car that no one wants. In Europe every family had a 5+2 or 7 seater with foldable seats for bigger trunk when required. All they need is space, trays, usb chargers and cup holders. The rest is just adding cost. Practicality gone mad. Like american cars in the 50s and 60s. Lots of stuff no one wanted. All its doing is adding weight which eats battery or takes day to charge at home.
