The photo: three buttons on a suit's sleeve refers back to medieval times when sleeves used to be broad (kinda like modern day flared trousers / bell-bottomed jeans) and the buttons gave you the option to let the material out or keep it tight to the forearm. Fabi's suit sleeve also has slashed red lining, again a medievel feature, suggesting that what Fabi has up his sleeve is fire and blood; Fabi, then, is clearly a Targaryean, so expect to see a hyper-accelerated dragon in future games. Being able to alter the fit along the arm allows the possibility to wear bangles , bracelets, or other arm jewellery, or maybe Fabi needs to loosen his arm-wear as at some point he expects his forearms to swell with power, like Popeye after eating his spinach. There is also a 3 Button Rule when it comes to suits ("Sometimes, always, never," i.e. sometimes fasten the top button, always fasten the 2nd, never fasten the 3rd) but i think it refers to the buttons along the front, not the sleeves. Referring back to medieval fashion is clearly Fabi's way of refuting his reputation as just an engine-line memorizer; his clothing choice suggests he wants to go back to old-fashioned, human-style chess, the sort Fischer championed.

Nijat stopped playing simple chess, looks like he was expecting more than just a draw from this game on his part. Should've just taken back his pawn the first time and not give Fabi play on both sides. Secondly, he shouldn't have taken the Knight and, again, given Fabi's pieces play from both sides. The Queen moved from the Kingside to the Queenside and still kept attacking the Kingside where his King was naked. Yes, I know, I'd never make it as far as him against Fabi, but I can still play chess and criticize what I see as elementary mistakes

That would be the world cup performance, easiest route. you only have to be the best in your country, and compete cup-style against over 200 players with similar or better qualifications and be among the top 3 finishers. He beat Gujrathi, Giri and Svidler there, so he's not a bad player. But in this tournament he may well be the one who decides the winner. By playing extremely well against some of the favorites he might upset the order of the final table.
