Obi wan still believed that anakin still lives somewhere within vader, and the only thing anakin loved more than power was his loved ones Thus knowing that luke is his son and with luke's influence could eventually bring him to light

One thing that bothers me about the comic is that Luke is skilled enough with the lightsaber to deflect Boba Fett's blaster shots. We're talking about the most fearsome bounty hunter in the galaxy vs someone who had just started his Jedi training. I don't think that Luke would be proficient enough to do that yet.
