I don't think the Inquisitor scene is a retcon at all, after all it's relatively new inquisitors all becoming inquisitors and we clearly see the grand Inquisitor and another long since established one in the trailer as well I'd predict it's Vader meeting a new batch of Inquisitors at the emperor's suggestion I also think the slight head raise after barris was bowing was immediately in some recognition of who Vader actually is

Barriss doesn't survive. After seeing the promo video the first time, my first thought was that the writers will use this to end the fandome speculation and just kill her off. I think the Anakin side of Vader will rage and kill her b/c he blames her for the loss of Ahsoka and the life he knew for falling apart.

There are plenty of people, especially in the imperial officer core, whom Vader absolutely wanted to murder but kept alive until he had an articulable reason to dispose of them.

She was able to bomb the temple, sneak into Asokas prison and take out all the guards, not set off any alarms and leave the key at her cell door, sneak attack Ventress and fight Asoka all while concealing her identity.

Then you're wrong. Very wrong. #1. Filoni already said she isn't years ago. #2. While they are the same race, they have very different facial markings. Barriss' markings are horizontal while 7th Sis' markings are vertical with some dots near the side of her eyes and her chin, while also they have different shapes. Barriss' shapes are diamonds. 7th Sis' are lines and dots. Pay attention.

Compared to Sidious, Vader doesn’t really savor torture as far as I know. Exceptions are there like with Obi-Wan where he wanted to inflict as much pain as he can, but that’s not really torture. If he’s going to kill you, he does it quick. If it’s a fight, it’s still quick. Sidious would drag it out.

I hope that doesn't happen. I didn't wait for Barriss's return for years just to see her brutally humiliated and killed. This character has immense potential to tell another interesting story. If they kill her off, I won't forgive it, especially since they broke canon/sense of book by bringing Ventress back to life.

That's my biggest concern, don't get me wrong, her dying at Vader makes the most sense and I might even argue it's the logical thing to happen. But like.. we waited 11 years for this? Filoni kept her in the fridge for more than a decade not giving us any answer just to kill her off? That's as dissapointing as Shaak ti's death being a deleted scene. If all Barriss can deliver is a predictable end at Vader's hand they could've told us that in a One-shot Vader comic YEARS AGO and call it a day. Or just kill her off with the bombing back in season 5 like they originally planned

When I first saw it I thought, oh boy Barris is gon die. But then I thought, what if Vader sees Barriss in a different light now? She did see past the corruption of the jedi, so maybe he wouldn't outright kill her for that reason alone. At the same time, seeing as this is very close to ROTS, Vader still has the same fighting style as Anakin and hasn't developed the more cool and collected form Vader has, so something tells me she will figure out Vader is Anakin seeing as she did fight Anakin and probably knows his style. If she does find out Vader is Anakin, then she will die seeing as Vader doesn't want anyone knowing that. Either way I think it will be really interesting.

Hear me out? Anakin after death takes place of the Father in Mortis. Ahsoka, Anakin's Padawan, takes place as the daughter when she dies. Barriss, who COULD be Vader's apprentice in this canon, takes the place of the Brother as she could represent a darker grey in contrast to Ahsoka lighter grey. Anakin, Ahsoka the White and Barris the Black? Idk just spitballin'

When it comes to specific people that Vader hates personally, then he reverts to his old fighting style. Of course, he doesn't do flips or move as fast as he did in his old body.

He did as a whole. But Vader's and Anakin's fighting style is pretty similar when Anakin starts to use the dark side. Watch the last fight with Barris in the CW show, his swings are heavy. He swings for a kill every time and he uses his physical strength to overpower his opponent. What I suspect is she will feel a similar presence around Vader because she felt that presence when she was fighting Anakin last time. I think she will put the pieces together.

And if he does allow her to live, even for a little while, without being directly commanded to do so by Palps, it’s gonna bother me a lot. In a way, Bariss bares significant responsibility for Anakin’s fall, there’s no way Vader lets that go.

I don’t think Vader will kill her since one she is an Inquisitor (and she seemingly to not has Deserted Yet from the Inquisitorius) and Two he denies his other Half Anakin Skywalker and Calls him Weak that Said countless times he has destroyed/eliminated him soo why should he Kill about a Person whose Former Half has Defeated and Caged the only thing he hat could Happen that Barriss could Learn the Sith Lord Ex identity (which I think is More Plausible) through the Force.

Vader rarely had to use the Force when fighting the inquisitors, but the last time he fought Barriss just blade against blade, she gained the high ground and lade him flat (and that was when he still had three of his original limbs). If Barriss beats Vader in the saber potion, even though she is no match for him with Force, the emperor may decide to keep this one, making her something akin to the emperor's hand...someone who could oversee a certain project near to the emperor's hart.

You're reaching LOL. Anakin whooped Barriss in blade vs blade and he was even going easy on her. No sweat was broken. He was giving her every opportunity to surrender. Vader is now this being full of hate and anger, not the merciless man that Anakin once was. The moment he sees Barriss, recognizes her, remembers what she did to his snips during the war. He's not gonna be happy and will straight up snap her neck on the spot or something. He's definitely going to kill her in some way just casually, and no one is going to ask questions, except maybe Sidious but not a big deal. These new episodes aren't to give Barriss new development/story. It's to show us the reason why she never appeared in later events that you'd think she would as an Inquisitor such as the Cal Kestis games or Rebels. We were right about 1 thing, she does become an Inquisitor, for probably just 2 minutes until her would-be master likely walks in and recognizes her and just goes ".... You." _Force neck snap_ or something

As much of a Barriss fan I am, context is important, Anakin wasn't trying to kill her, he was angry and dissapointed at her, sure, but he needed her alive, he couldn't fight her to death and go for the kill, he needed her confession, otherwise Ahsoka would've been executed, so to claim she was at his level in the battle is a HUGE stretch

@@xxhaxonxx8345 You make a very fair point, however, Anakin's goal may not have been to kill her, but it certainly was not to end up laying flat on his face, in a situation where she could have easily escaped along the portico (possibly becoming the third person in history to utilize Force speed) if escape had been her plan. Fortunately her plane was to swap places with Ahsoka (that is why she kept the sabers) and that is why she chose to jump into a crowd of people (the one course of action guaranteed to lead to her capture regardless of what Anakin did) so it is possible Barriss was holding back a bit as well.
