How Deep Creek Lake "filled in"

When you talk to someone who has a place at Deep Creek Lake, one of the first things you'll likely here is "We've had a house here since . . . " People are proud - and rightfully so - of how long they have had property at Deep Creek Lake. In this virtual tour, I look at how the lake "filled in" by classifying the homes by the year they were built. You'll see the history of the lake, from the original enclaves of cabins built in the 1920's and 30's right after the lake formed, to today's familiar developments and rental hotspots.

It was created in 1925 as a hydroelectric project by building a dam across Deep Creek.

Nice review of the history of the lake. My era was in the 60's and 70's, when I was in my adolescent to early 20's. My parent's place was built in 1955 on Skipper's Point and was unfortunately torn down in the late 80's - early 90's. Our neighbor's place was built in 1957 and is still there and owned by the family.
