The Pyramid of Khufu is the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World which can still be seen in its original state. 146 metres high, 230 metres wide, and made from almost 2.5 million blocks, including 63-tonne granite slabs, the Pyramid of Khufu breaks all the records. It took at least 25 years to complete this colossal structure. How did its builders manage this incredible technical achievement?
Today, Egyptologists and archaeologists have a new tool at their disposal: archaeology 2.0, which will help them unravel the mysteries of this gargantuan site by providing aerial and satellite images that help decipher anomalies in land shape and characteristics, and by allowing them to view zones that they can't usually see.

Actually, it took 22 years and around 40,000 permanent workers the rest came when the Nile flooded, but to manage 100,000 ppl in such a small space wouldn't have been workable so only around 60,000 ppl worked on it at its maximum

Can see you only believe what you've been told. Personally I believe that the pyramids were built by a lost, more advanced civilization. Hard to believe in a lot of History that we've all been told.

Raising a heavy block with a lever balance is not difficult. No one uses a ramp. When moving a 500 pound machine I tipped it until it balanced on its bottom edge and asked my helper to hold it in position, who began grunting as if exerting enormous effort. I showed him that I could hold that machine balanced on its edge and prevent it from tipping over with one finger on each side.

@wildbill6675 Thank god the Egyptians had men of great skill and vision, instead of people moaning that it can’t be done.

No it would take around 2 years to build a pyramid today. That is with 8 hour work shifts.

Eight teams worked simultaneously. They employed lever balances with a pivot point to raise blocks to each successive layer with minimal effort.

Yes, I also don't understand why there is no beautiful paintings on the wall and no sculptures? If I were the King( Haha) the Pyramid I would have the best artists adorn it with paintings and sculptures throughout the amazing Pyramid!😎☀🏜✌

Because that came later, and only lasted for around 3 dynasties. The paintings, treasures etc only happened during 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties. From the beginning to the end of the pyramid era, things changed with pyramids, the process did not remain the same. Then they stopped using pyramids and switched to going underground in hidden tombs.. When they started using tombs the process also changed over time. The 18th, 19th and 20th dynasties were the richest periods of ancient Egypt, and it was all about showing off, so they started doing elaborate paintings, writings, statues carved in mountains etc. All the big things like the huge temples, huge tombs, huge mountain carvings etc came from that short window from the 18th and 20th dynasties. Before that it was the pyramids. So it basically went from 20 big pyramids to everything being big from the tombs to buildings to the art.

@zxcvbzxcvb6328 3 days ago Really? Are you still trying to make people think the Egyptians built the Great Pyramid four thousand years ago? The Pharaoh that the Egyptians claim built it did not have any drawings or paintings on the walls of his burial tomb. Those pharaohs ALWAYS paint on their walls in their burial tombs the greatest things they accomplished to keep impressing future generations. Now hurry up and delete my comment so no one can get smarter today!

You’re not very smart, huh? What an incredibly ignorant statement. Yeah. Bronze Age technology did build the pyramids bc we know for a fact exactly when they were built. And many stone workers in Egypt still use the same techniques. The tools have been rebuilt in modern times and have shown how the large stones were cut. There’s video of experimental archaeologists doing just that. So, not only do we know what tools and techniques the ancients used in the Bronze Age, we’ve recreated and rebuilt even the largest tools and some of the techniques and tools are still used today. So, nice try. Maybe next time. Amazing how dumb people can be. Bronze Age people were every bit as intelligent as we are today. If you took an Egyptian baby from 5,000 years ago and raised them today they’d be a regular normal person and you’d never know… bc ancient humans weren’t simple. Unlike you apparently. 😘

Common sense says since the pyramids exist, that is proof that the ancients had the technology to build them. Saying that the ancient Egyptians couldn’t have done it because you just feel like they couldn’t have done it, and ignoring the evidence that they did in fact build them is the lazy way out. There is currently zero evidence of a more ancient advanced civilization that had advanced technology. Even if that were true, they would have had to independently develop the technology. So if the hypothetical ancient advanced civilization for which there is no evidence for could develop the technology to build the pyramids why couldn’t the ancient Egyptians do the same. Check out scientists against myths channel for some videos on modern people replicating some of the ancient stone working techniques with Bronze Age technology.

Yes they did, and we know exactly when they were built. The one thing you nuts leave out, which you probably do not even know, is one of the first pyramids, which is the step pyramid, used wood, and that wood has been dated. That is how we know when the pyramids were built.

@kenoriel, I think your assessment of Zawi Hawass isn't quite fair! I don't like him, but he is definitely an expert with extensive knowledge. The problem is, that he doesn't place good science above ideologies and politics. However, his postion isn't exactly comfortable. He has to deal with various national and international factions which have their own agenda, and the worst of them are the raging islamists who don't care at all about the ancient Egyptians and and the country's cultural heritage, since their ancient forfathers weren't ultraorthodox muslims. Zahi Hawass has also been accused of being corrupt. I have no idea if that is true or false. But even if it is true, it doesn't mean that he isn't an expert in his field.
