I love Joanne videos! I wish there were more! Too bad this is a rerun from another video where there was both episodes in one long video! Seems like most of her videos are like this. There’s one like 4 hour one but then they put out each separately as well!! Just make more videos with her and some with the team. Those are great too but there’s too few!

I wonder if the constant connections of Merit to motherhood might be a suggestion that she was some kind of midwife or somehow assisted local women in the birthing process. Regardless, it touches me to see how absolutely devoted to her that he was, and how much he loved her and honored her when she passed.

That's an interesting thought. She was the wife of an intelligent and learned man, so it would stand to reason that she was educated herself and assisted with things like childbirth. It could also be that as the most high status woman in the village, everyone looked up to her and came to her for advice. Therefore seeing her as a motherly figure of wisdom.

@@patriciahamel5674 I very much agree. The documentaries about Kah and Meryt are by far my favourites because they were more like us than the kings and queens of egypt. They were at the end of the day working class people. And to get a look into their lives feels very real and its very touching to hear how much effort Kah put into Meryts funeral.

I might be putting too much into it, but I... I think it's very sweet, actually, that Meryt was laid to rest in a coffin meant for her husband. Larger than she needed, perhaps, but... In a way, it's as if she was laid to rest in her beloved husband's embrace, isn't it? Her smaller body held by his larger one - Kah keeping his beloved Meryt safe, nestled within himself. I loved this documentary, and Dr. Fletcher!

This is fascinating, but the old photographs taken at the time of the tomb opening along with the description later that all of their possessions that they wanted for later reminds me of the modern custom of putting stuff in storage locations for later. The only thing that has changed is what we mean by "later."

I absolutely love Joanne Fletcher. However, the way the story is narrated seems to differentiaten ethically between the two Italians who looted the sites, and I don’t understand the distinction; was what Schiaparelli did OK because he was an archaeologist by trade?

Halfway in would I think could be a possibility, when they say it was a unexpected death.. Egyptians back then were obsessed with death and the afterlife there had to be so many suicides people just wanting to get to the afterlife because life was so hard for them.. wasn't hard for Merit, but you never know It could have been suicide.. And I'll going further I feel they both committed suicide

think that 'tombs' were also bunkers & vaults where u kept ur valuables when SHTF if u died in it, ur tomb too. You would bring ur priceless ancient artifacts like we prize today and your mummified relatives wrapped with priceless artifacts who u Dont Want to stink. What if the 'afterlife' they wanted to bring their valuables to wasnt actually death but life after the catastrophies? Maybe people copied it later but I think that's what happened. Religion started by people praying to the sky to stop the space weather in their artificial caves/bunker/vault.

I think this is SO INTERESTING... but really weird too. I don't think I would want to live my entire life prepping for my death! I don't care how magical and strange and ancient it sounds and looks, its almost like they were wanting to die in some videogame type of world... and then they ALL KNOW that even if they LIVED to DIE and spent all their life savings on the book to teach you how to get out of the underworld or whatever it is and into the sea of reeds (I think thats the correct name) to be alive again with their loved ones (maybe? what if they didn't say the right things to that prick of a God that wanted your heart to weight less than a feather? Sorry bro, your wife didn't make it she got killed mauled and eaten by a monster, oh well! lol) and be immortal forever... I don't know it seems like there was just a huge industry for this stuff and it was just a cash grab, those damn mummifiers hey? Bunch of hacks. This should only be for the Rulers of Egypt, I don't think the public should of been basically made to spend their life thinking and planning for their death... BLAHH

Dr. Fletcher... Why did you make such a big deal out of the wrong name & wrong gender inscribed on the mummy case of Bakht en Hor, yet you make absolutely no comment about exactly the same thing on the mummy case that Meryt was buried in? It's the same. Her husband's name (Kha) is on her mummy case. Yes, I know that she died unexpectedly & the husband's mummy case was used because it was completed & readily available... Wouldn't that still make it impossible fir her to achieve immortality, just as with Bakht en Hor? Just sayin'...

This information was mentioned in the Quran over 1400 years ago, indicating that the Quran is the word of Allah the unique God who knows everything.
